Congrats on making a video that not only failed to give any useful information, but also said some straight up false info. Dark age is a term we don’t use anymore because its a made up term from 18th century. Can you really tell me that world marvels like Hagia Sophia, San Vitale and the tombs in Ravenna could be constructed in dark ages? Not to mention all architecture of romanesque and gothic period. Also, renaissance wasn’t revolutionary for using classical elements; no one ever forgot about romans and many elements like triumphal arch were used even back then - look at Saint Gilles du Gard, its design of the front is literally based on the mentioned arches.
I appreciate the making of this video. However, it is honestly so slanted into painting an enlightenment-era caricature of the renaissance. By no means were the middle ages "dark". In fact, this concept of middle ages = dark ages is largely abandoned by historians today. Nor was the renaissance somehow an "awakening" from religion towards secular humanism and science. In fact, the renaissance artists were very pious - just look at the paintings they painted (most of the time they were things from the Bible). Also, scientific inquiry was historically done mostly by religious people, so this idea of science and religion being at odds with one another is simply outdated. Overall, it seems to me that this video is imposing an aggresive atheist’s view of religion into this historical period, which is just very misleading.
