I'm Chris. I'm just an average guy. I definitely haven't learned all the secrets about making money. But I have learned a few things that have helped me generate a good income to provide for my family.
I’m not a millionaire, and I’m not even making six figures (yet), but I’ve always been pretty good with money. And I’ve never been afraid of taking calculated risks with money. Some of them have worked, and some haven’t. So this channel is all about what works and doesn’t work for average people like you and me.
This isn't about how to get rich quick. And it's not about taking a financial shortcut. All of the things I share will be about putting in the work necessary to make money.
It's about working smarter AND harder.
So if you're interested in learning how to make a good, sustainable income, and you're willing to put in the work to make that happen, you're in the right place.

I hear you, just started up 2 months ago, got some views on my videos and was doing better than I thought with just 10 subscribers. And then the last 3 videos, nothing...... Ah well, I'll keep on trying ;)
Just keep at it! Try to make every video a little better than the last one, so that over time, your videos get so awesome that people love to watch them and come back for more.
som of my vids on another channel hav some videos getting like really low impressions like about <50 so im waiting for youtube to notice those a little more and give them an impressions bump they need cuz otherwise they have a rly good watchtime and ctr either way. its all about waiting. plus one of my vids did go viral as well.
@@quinnard9750 Trust RU-vid to promote your videos for you. Their goal is to give the right video to the right person at the right time. Focus on making great videos 👍
I've thought the same thing at times for my bigger channel. But when it comes down to it, RU-vid wants us to get views because that means more money for them also. Make videos people want to watch, and they will.
Impressions are not guaranteed. If a video is not performing well, impressions will slow down. Look at your videos that did better and ask yourself why your audience may have liked them more.
If youre reading this! You are here for a reason, and you have something unique to share with the world, you can do it if you are willing to put in the work...stay focused!
That’s great that you are a pastor. We are also Christians. We are currently working on getting watch hours, so we can be monetized. We are trying to improve our videos and will continue to learn. Be well. - Colin
One thing I've never understood is why someone would care if their channel is monitzed? For me, I like to make content and share it with others. I never plan to make a dime from my content, but instead see it as a fun hobby. Why try to ruin the thing I do for fun, by making money its focus?
Great perspective! That's definitely one way to keep it from turning into a chore. For others, whether they are seeking for RU-vid to become a career or just another side source of income, part of the excitement is the fun of seeing all the numbers grow, including revenue. I enjoy seeing it as a big game 😁
Thanks for including my channel in your intro! Was funny to see myself there 😅 Good video btw, just one thing to add: there are some channels out there who have over 1k subs and over 4k watch hours and are not monetized. That's because they don't want to. They use YT as a marketing platform and don't want to make ad money. Also, I don't quite understand why 4k watch hours is so hard if you're serious about long form content. I achieved that way earlier than the 1k subs. Just make longer videos and do live streams if needed (this is not directed at you, just in general).
You're welcome! All of the channels I included are channels with under 1,000 subs who have commented on my channel in the past. 😁 That's very true, some channels do get the hours first, but it's not the norm. Most channels struggle to keep people watching. Regarding channels that don't monetize because it's not their goal, I would encourage them to go ahead and monetize. After all, RU-vid still shows ads on their videos as they see fit, and keeps all the revenue for themselves.
@@AverageGuyMakingMoney Thankfully, I'm over 1k subscribers by now. It took me 9 months to get to 1k and then 12 days to get to 1.5k You're right about those channels. YT still shows ads, and the creators don't get a penny. But there is definitely one such channel in my niche (in fact, it's the biggest channel in my niche).
I have the opposite problem to watch time, I basically have it together, over 3000 watch time hours this year, but only 450 subs or so, just won't get impressions
Hi. I had a quick look at your channel as I am always watching channel reviews to better myself. As a viewer, I noticed some disconnect between the videos you make which will effect subscribers. They may watch something they like but another video doesn't relate to the same subject. I also noticed your latest video with you talking is very quiet even with my phone in max volume so I couldn't focus on you speaking. It is worth watching Nick Nimmin and especially his live on a Saturday and make notes even if he isn't reviewing your channel because the advise is universal. Good luck for the future 👍🏻
@@DustyFingersRC Thanks for the tips! Yeah, I was completely surprised that my reviews channel was able to get that many subs...I never expected that since the videos are so random. Which video has low audio? They all sound loud and clear to me. 🤷♂️
@@DustyFingersRC thanks for the awesome advice, I've been trying to pivot my channel ever since my sobriety video got picked up from the algorythm, but this was never intended from me, meaning I want to do different videos ... will definitely look the audio setting over though.
That's what worked for me, but you could always do just 1 a day if you're concerned about losing subs. And I just repurposed some of my older/popular videos that most of my subs probably didn't even see yet, so it looked like new content to most of them.
It IS a mindset but for only one actual reason -- you spend too much on macros and are too proud to find roommates and external help to cut down on them. Solution? grab roommates and people who will help you cut down your macros. Family, close friends. Ignore these finance gurus and popup shop losers who tell you to "work hard". hard work does not solve money problems. Getting higher wage jobs or better salaries will. If you can't do that (wrong place wrong time, shit hiring market, just poor luck), you have to find roommates. It's the only way. I guarantee your highest single payment is to your rent. Cut that in half. Next? Probably insurance or medical bill or, if you're lucky enough that your body isnt trying to kill you, a credit card. Most people aren't gonna help you pay down a CC unless it's like an S/O or something. DON'T fall into some refi or loan shark scam for this -- it's money IN and less money OUT that will save you from debt (meaning, higher payments to cut down on principle so interest doesn't F you in the A and you DON'T turn around and use that card ).
Prior to 2008 I invested some side money in Prosper and when the economy imploded just about every loan went bad. We seem to be nearing a similar period so best to be conservative these days...
a couple things to consider though, if a person defaults, you most likely will never see that money again. the investments are not very liquid, the loans will last for usually 3+ years, and the returns dont end up being much in the long term. maybe fun to do on the side, but its basically gambling. CDs are much safer and guaranteed.
we have this in my country, its a very terrible idea unless you can chase people for your money if they default and take them to court. just stick to stressfree stock investing. i mean think about it, if someone can't eve afford $25 or $100 what makes you think they pay u back?
The $25 loans are only part of a larger loan that the people get. No one is just borrowing $25, but the loan can be broken up amongst many investors. But, yes, it's not without risk.
@@AverageGuyMakingMoney thats exactly how we have it here in my country. just a made up multiple tranches. its 50/50 here atleast because half people default or don't pay it back because each loan is so low they know the cost to chase the money it court is higher.
Essentially you make "Payday Loans" online. This is such a bad idea on so many levels. You've lost all credibility recommending this as a good long-term investment. You don't have an investment channel, more like a gambling/speculation channel.
Very Interesting! I feel like the risk it too high for me to feel comfortable investing but it's a really cool way alternative way to invest. Thanks for sharing
I have invested in prosper and its pretty cool especially when i couldn't get in Lending club because they don't allow us in NY to invest. I originally did almost 500 in prosper when i started
Sorry to hear you were demonetized. There are many ways to make money online, though, even on RU-vid. Affiliate marketing takes time to build up, but can be a great source of income. Check out the Amazon Influencer program also.
I buy some of them myself, but many companies also contact me and offer me products because I've been doing this a while. I started by just reviewing things around my house. 😁
Haha, you got me. I've written out scripts for many many videos, and have even recorded at least a couple, but none of them have felt right or turned out the way I wanted. I'm not abandoning this channel, I've just been focused on some of my other channels lately. Hoping to record a video for this one soon. Thanks for the reminder.
No problem bro. First few years gonna suck but the 2 steps for success is hardwork and consistency. They're the only 2 things you need, they're the only 2 things that made every millionaire and billionaire successful. Good luck bro@@AverageGuyMakingMoney
It’s really hard to find it’s blue tooth my phone connects to the neighbor’s laptop and not to this sign while next to it I tried everything why it’s hard like that?
Very cool video man, thanks for doing it! I wonder what strategy and platforms did you use to sell it? I've got no idea what kind of marketplace can be used to sell that.
It mostly sells itself. I made a free version that is hosted on WordPress.org, and then users who download it are offered a discount to download the PRO version from my website. It still sells, even years later.
