How-To videos on a variety of topics, My background is Computing and related discipline. I have over 30 years experience with many types of computers and technologies.
I also have Automotive, Welding, Electrical and other trade background through many work ventures in my lifetime. Many old timers call it a "Jack of all Trades"
My goal is to share my knowledge with everyone from beginner to advanced users, with no loud music or swearing as many videos have on this platform. Many of my videos are one-take, no editing to give you the full experience of the video topic, that can include errors, crashes and perhaps brain pauses as I get through the videos, I believe this gives you the viewer a better experience with the topic being discussed as many times your experience has different results.
Hope you are doing well @compuguy. Have been following your tutorials for a POC. When I login as domain user with administration group in the file server, File and storage service section says this: Online - Data retrieval failures occurred, where it should say: Performance counters not started. Similary, while trying to bring an attached disk online, it throws error: Failed to bring disk online. Access to a CIM resource was not available to the client.
I would create an SQL cluster on shared volumes yes. I have a video in which I create an SQL cluster on the volumes in the cluster as well. I will be making a newer one soon.
My commitment to my channel is to share my knowledge, this video I was a little sleep deprived. I will be reposting this again soon. Setting up my environment for better content coming soon!.
You said roaming profile we don't use anymore, what do you mean by that, it saves on the server and loads back to the user logged on from, so as folder redirection???
HI, what I mean by this is is many organizations have adopted folder redirection instead, All users who login to a WIndows computer will have a local profile established on the PC, if you use roaming profiles that profile is copied upto the server, this means DESKTOP as well, many users like to keep lots of data on thier desktop, this causes the push/pull of data to take time when uploading the profile to the server and downloading the profile to the PC on every login, this creates poor performance. You can eliminate this by using folder redirection instead, and user training too but many companies never budget for that. I will expand on this with my new series for profiles coming shortly
I will be re uploading new videos soon, when I recorded these the sound is good on the recording however when uploaded the volume somehow went lower. I have since adjusted controls of the video recordings and have tested uploads with improved volume, most of the issue is me binge a quiet talker. I’m hopeful to replace these videos before mid 2023.
There are several ways to do this, one method is to put a group permission on the policy, place users in the group where policy will be applied and exclude users from the group in which you wish not to have the policy apply to them
Hello after setting up the redirect folder and setting up the Group Policy, everything is redirecting except for the documents folder.. Do I need to do something else to assure the document folder redirects as well.
@@Compuguy Good to know. I've heard that this model has been discontinued, but it's sturdier and keeps the ice longer than the newer models. However, the drain plug is a concern to me, because a seller said it may not be replaceable anymore (the walls in this models are thicker.) Any opinions?
So if i login to another pc with the same domain, with one of the roaming profile then i don't lost all my data right? Just like desktop or etc...!? :)
Amazing that people buy huge coolors and expect to hit spec with a filling of 20% of the internal volume? I mean why don't you put a single ice cube in there and expect it to last 5 days? Is it really too hard to understand how.manufacturers spec their cooler? Fully loaded to the top with pre cooled drinks.....of course. And then magic, they work.
Hi. I am a cross one dilema. Can i roaming the user picture/foto taken on local machine on the roaming profile? I'm trying to figure out but seems impossible! Thanks
Generally you would point user data to a mapped drive (users personal folder) created when you create the user in AD I will be creating a while series of videos on this topic shortly
