Vera was so unlikeable, twisted, weird, who also searched for the truth he wanted to (more so than anyone else around Elliot). I don’t like the character, but this is a credit to excellent masterful writing AND acting - if it were poorly done, I would not engage so much emotionally with a minor character. What a show!!!
I always liked vera, something about his presence was like a subversion of the typical drug dealer trope. He was almost cerebral in a way, and crazy af just like a methhead would be
For the first half of the episode, I just want to see Mr. Robot/Elliot hard roasting Vera, because the way he thinks and does things is just so small and insignificant compared to all the "true greater evil" we have seen in this show, and I want to see the pissed look in his eyes when he learns how little of a vermint he is; yet this "small evil" managed to succeed where the "greater evil" failed: fully tearing down Elliot's mental world and reveal his hidden truth to him.
Holy Christ on a cracker! Rami’s acting is just fucking haunting. If you really pay attention to his face right as he learns what his dad had been doing is god damned masterclass on facial emoting. You can see him go through the entire human gambit of emotion and it is so powerful
This was the equivalent of breaking bad’s ozymadeus(unsure if the spelling). Everything about this was perfect. I loved how they shot it like a play, but most importantly, the acting. I absolutely LOVED Vera’s role this episode. Showing just how much he cares for and respects Elliot. The tension of this episode was so palpable, and it is insane how much Vera actually helps Eliot break through
Mannnn it’s crazy when they hit us with what his dad was really doing. Just to drop another bomb . I ain’t never for so bad for person. Honestly don’t know how he can move on from all that man .
5 mins into this and I can tell the reason I might not be able to finish this is because the levels are as off as they always tend to be with these videos. Normalize your audio please, swapping volume levels every two minutes is no way to digest this information/ your voice also starts to clip a lot throughout the video, along with a lot of plosives. This can be fixed if you just cut some of the low-end in your voice and turning your gain down. I'm not trying to be a nerd emoji or a dick, I just don't want to see a good video essayist with unfortunate audio mixing.
They could've been a good duo man fuck , everything about this episode was just amazing , the cinematography , the acting , the music everything. best episode i've ever watched
Saw it last night, then stumbled on this video and all I could do last night was think of how the director's use of Hitchcock's format was incredible and so alluring.
**"I see you..."** - Ironically (in light of the revelations of the very last episode of the series) Vera actually glimpses the real Elliot ahead of everyone else... just before Vera is murdered that is... which is also ironic because the "bat" (Christa) mortally struck the 'lil bitch in the end after all.
Vera is just a greatly written villain. He's not some big CEO. Not a world dominant group. He caused more truth to Elliot than most in all seasons. In a few final moments this overall low level villain becomes a power. Evil still, he did something giant. Actor who plays him is great.
IMO this is exactly at the same level of absolute perfection as Felina from Breaking Bad. Arguably even better since it still works with little to no context... it's still amazingly intriguing and entertaining regardless if you even know the characters or not.
This is a master class in acting, story, character, and composition. And it stands out even among the whole series which is filled with banger episodes, it still manages to elevate above.
