David, What Drone are you flying in this? St. John is one of my favorite places period. Going back end of July. This time I'm bringing my Air 3. Had my Mavic 2 Zoom and Mini 3 Pro make the trip previously. Keep up the great work!
Todd, So sorry for the delayed response, and thank you! I used my Mini 3 Pro for the trip (even though I had recently acquired the Mavic 3 Pro. The Mini is just too freakin awesome/convenient especially for our short 4-day trip. (Using my MindShift Backlight 26L backpack) allowed me to pack all of the following as Carry-on including batteries, chargers, cables, card readers, etc, etc.... Mini3P, DJI Osmo Pocket 3, Nikon D750 w/lens: 24-70mm & 15-30mm, Sony ZV-1, GoPro Hero-10, HP-24" Laptop, Selfie-stick, and I tethered my Apple Airpods Max case. It was fairly heavy, but I had "all my stuff" at my fingertips....It was awesome! I'd love to go back again with about 7-10 days and take the Mavic 3 Pro. I could have gotten much better footage since I could have shot many scenes from a distance with the 70mm and 166mm cameras (with a much more cinematic look/feel). Still, It was just awesome to be there and to be doing what I love (even if I didn't have all my tools). I felt very fortunate! I'll watch for you results!
Thank you very much, and nice job on your LBJ video as well! My wife and I moved out here (from Austin) 8yrs ago and it was culture-shock at first. Now we couldn't imagine living anywhere else!
If you want to just walk from east to west or north to south down one street, maybe 20-30 min. If you want to explore every street, hours and hours lol.
Excellent video! You sure made the best use of the time spent here. I live & fly in Houston all the time and it's always interesting to see someone else's perspective of it.

Thank you so much! I really had limited time due to other commitments, but as I stated - it gives me an opportunity to do more in the future. I also agree with you regarding "individual perspective", as I watch EVERYONE'S work to see how I might constantly improve. Thanks again and have a great weekend!
Hi @davidmatney5033. I'm in Austin as well. Love these drone videos! Editing is spot on as well. How would you feel about me embedding this video on my website if I provide a link back to you? I know the youtube license already allows this using their native embed functionality, but I always like to ask anyway.
Thank you! I have no issue with you using the video (as long as it is not attached to anything controversial). It is intended (strictly) to show people the beauty of our City. No need to link....
Stunningly beautiful! Artfully captured & edited. New supporter here; I'm hoping to visit Austin in the near future. Just down the road in Houston, but time, commitments & health always seem to make for bad timing.
Thank you so much! I put a great amount of time/energy (and my soul) into my little productions, so your words mean a great deal! I understand about the lack of time, as it took me over a year for everything to fall in-place to do this filming. (We live 50-miles west of Austin in the Hill Country). We have a trip planned to the Houston area (early Feb) and I will try to film around downtown, though I cannot get near as close due to controlled airspace.........I'll get what I can get. Thank you again!
Nice footage. What drone are you flying for these. We are making another trip down in July an I had my Mavic 2 zoom and Mini 3 Pro in action in St. John so far. Taking my Air 3 next.
Thank you! I have the Mavic 3 Pro and Mini 3 Pro, and took the Mini for this trip. It's just too convenient for air travel, etc. Plus I had my Nikon D850 with additional lens, GoPro, DJI Osmo pocket 3, etc, etc! Always some new tech-toy "I have to have" for my creative nature! :)
Dude, this was insane! I have no idea how that drone responds so well to the low light with high intensity explosions while keeping focus, but wow…. The flying was excellent, but that image quality is just…. INSANE!! Blown away. No pun intended
Thank you so much Dude! My Drone (DJI Mini 3 Pro) has an Aperture of f/1.7 and focus range beginning at 1m, therefore a Hella depth-of field. I also used "Manual" exposure settings to offset the massive lighting changes. It handled the explosions decently but the negative was - it was incredibly dark maneuvering in an area with minimal city lighting.
Holy crap! What a stunning view of the Austin skyline! This edit was so beautiful. I cannot believe the colors you got off the buildings with the morning sun. Crazy how placid the lake was that morning as well. The reflecting pond effect was incredible. I really like the artsy closeups of the 360 bridge as well as the skyline and golf course view from 360. Now, that stadium section… 😮😮😮 I don’t think I’ve ever seen that perspective! Absolutely killed it dude!!!
I was near Burleson St and B4UFLY indicated green - Clear for takeoff - No active advisories - maintain situational awareness? Hopefully I didn't mess-up! :)
