Awesome video bro. Can't wait to see the outcome but thought I'd mention, what I think is a massive point, one of which a lot of tracks fail at, and that's having enough cameras and putting them in the right positions. Something you're most likely well aware of. Thanks again for the awesome update 💯👍🇬🇧🤜🤛💪👌😜
really nice layout! Good luck with your progress! I have seen lots of videos on making your own scenics, including trees and such that really helps with costs... just takes more time!
Thanks! Yeah I've been watching a tonne of videos. The trees in particular cost a fortune in large volumes but I struggle to get the time with work and kids so I've opted for more expensive options to save time. Looking forward to introducing some colour to the track
Terrific update 👏 When you paint the different track sections to fit the decor, what sheen are you expecting to use? Painting plastic is one thing and having to consider that cars will race on the surface brings other aspects into the mix. You expressed concerns regarding cracks in the plaster. To me that would only enhance the random natural look especially in a proposed cliff face. Going with batting that is only half as thick should work a treat, easier to hang and manipulate let alone less painting to get the desired look. The "spare" camera placement you described seems good and I encourage you to shore up the coverage there just to take some pressure off yourself in that last section. Trees 🌳 don't get me going on those. That more hosts aren't opting for a desert motif astounds me; a few cacti here and there has to be better for the bank account 😅 Great filming platform, I'm happy that it solves so many issues!!
Thanks Chris. I haven't considered what I will use to paint the plastic yet. It's only for that small opening straight and turn, everything else was printed by Russ in the colours we needed. I will probably spray it and then use a fine wire wool to get it smooth. Regarding the plaster, I was more worried that the movement might crack it to the point it falls off as a lot of the cliff surfaces slope inwards rather than outwards (so gravity is not on my side). I am applying cloth tape over the card strips and will see what I think when it's done. Might give it a go as I really am dreading painting loads of batting again. And yes the painting was a nightmare on the 4oz batting - it took forever, used a lot of paint and kept sagging. Although I also didn't have the batting glued down, it was stapled which I won't be doing this time. Trees are incredibly expensive to buy pre-made, but I really want a bright track with a lot of green. I won't be able to fit another diorama filled track in this house, so I want to go all out on the diorama!
Wow!!! Now that's what I call a race track. Am so happy for you bro, and am really looking forward to seeing some great races taking place in the near future. Also can't wait for some awesome diorama to be added, n that's when it'll really start to take shape. Best of luck to ya bro, n thanks for sharing and keeping us updated 💯👍👍🇬🇧🇬🇧🤜🤛💪👌😜🥳
Trucks finishing bonnet-forward! Nice! The Spool Heads turns with the railing is working smoothly, are there any elevation changes through that section?
@@XRDiecastRacing I only ask because I have seen other hosts use similar sections and experience difficulties owing to entry speed or elevation. 3D's new design makes extensive use of the railing laned segments to great effect 🎯
@@Chris_Hoodgood to know. I've tested about 30 cars through and did have one that always slowed to a stop. I'll see if I can steal some of the decline from the first long open section to drop it a bit more in case! Definitely slows down more there although most cars fly through. Thanks
@@XRDiecastRacing one car failing out of 30 tested is a fabulous ratio 🤌 In your shoes, I would find similar castings and test those to refine the data. Not every car type will succeed on any given course that's part of the fun & challenge in racing. It is when stable and proven contenders fail often when I raise an eyebrow in concern
Just watched your 'Diecast XTRA talk show' with a great big smile 🙂 on my face. Such a great unique idea 💡, showcasing different channels, tracks, guests and news from the whole Diecast community. Awesome job bro and really looking forward to seeing more. Thanks 💯👍🇬🇧🤜🤛💪👌😜
Sneaky Bob said " I pulled the hand brake and nothing happened"........!!!!! I fell off my bar stool. Then, there was a conspiracy theory that it was cut!!!...???? I was rolling.
Thanks to Chris Hood for sending me this link. OH LOOK, It's the New Guy "Johnny Smoke", head to head with three of the best out there at GTR! How did that Happen? Wonderful video. Thanks very much.
What a pleasure to watch! Wasn't that cool to hear Sneaky Bob explain what he did to overcome his drifting issue and pull off the win in sudden death?!?! I enjoyed hearing news about the other two tracks. You gotta love that continuous track at LRL!
Great news episode well put together with some great guests. Good to hear you read our message about the GTR finals - still disappointed not to win ! Great slick entertainment!! Thanks for your time and efforts.
You represented the UK and Team Essex Boys in fine fashion! A tough competition with a casting not as available nor as widely raced as others; to get to the finals is a celebration-worthy feat in itself! I can't imagine how those aspects affected the intensity of wheel farming and testing compared to that of a more varied field
Thanks Chris. We were disappointed but pleased as well with our results. Nice of you to say. I see your comments a lot, always positive. We only have straight track to test on as well - so we get mixed results but we find it fun to build and enter tournaments all over the world. A great diecast community.
This is really cool how you brought other track hosts together. The diecast community is awesome. Almost all of my RU-vid subscriptions are to diecast racing channels. It's more than just a hobby to me.
This is great to hear as my vision for this show was to promote diecast racing as one community. Everyone has been really keen to get involved in this experiment. Really enjoyed putting it together.
Great show, very nicely done. Love hearing from other friends in the diecast community, behind the scenes, what's next and all that. Very cool. Great job XR. Cheers and Kudos! "Keep your roof to the Sun". Mahalo! 🤙🏽
Terrific debut of this series! Just as good as collaborating within an actual race event, I hope this interview show brings greater exposure to everyone involved, now and in upcoming episodes! It's all "little toy cars running down a track" BUT the real entertainment comes from the unique visions of hosts in how to tell the tale.
Absolutely. I will never forget a comment I read on someone else's channel saying something like the viewers would still watch the channel if the track was around some garbage cans because of how entertaining they were. It's all about the creativity, story telling and bringing it to life.
3 of my favorite tracks! Always love a good look into the back story of guys who take the time to build these tracks for others to race on! Much appreciated guys! And thanks XR Diecast for putting a great video together!
Man, that was very good.! Y’all put it all together better than I could imagine. Can’t wait to see some more interviews in the future. Honored to be apart of this show. 🙏 Again great job and hope to see y’all again! 👍
Ive bought a fair bit of 3d printed track from thingiverse ,cults 3d and a few crash racer sets. Putting it together in sections but just cant get it together in continuous run. Have a 3 year old and 8 year old so difficult all round.Good luck with it all looks great.maybe one day ill get mine on utube as well.
@@RalphsRacing1 I used all crash racers on my Corkscrew Laguna track. Getting the track support right is a lot of trial and error, and does take a lot of space. I built mine in the attic. You will get there though! Good luck with the build.
Those downhill slopes look too steep for any of those turns. I like to experiment with the turns by adjusting the slopes to give the cars the right amount of gravity energy to get around the turns without flying off the tracks. In the end I would want all four racing cars to have a higher chance of crossing the finish line.
Thanks for your suggestion and for watching Keith. I am testing everything as I go with a selection of modified cars from the last tournament, stock cars and test cars people have sent in. So far nothing is coming off, but when I have more of the track built I will be experimenting with the height of that slope. I don't have much height to work with in this room and have to get the track down to the lower ceiling height on the first corner (from the high point of the room - roof is sloped), so the plan is to have a steep drop at the start to pick up the speed and then lower drops than usual elsewhere where I don't have much height left if that makes sense. Will be easy to lower it later if needed.
Looks great can not wait to see more thanks for sharing your journey in track building. I myself have a limited space. That is why i keep my track the same not really room to make it any bigger or different. Especially with my knowledge of building supports ect. Beat of luck to you!!
@@ricksdiecastracing thanks Rick, looking forward to sharing more. You're track is great with a unique theme. We can only work with the space we have, it's about what we do with it and how we bring it to life with the production 👽👾
