My understanding at the sign in was that if you brought short fish, it was not the FISH that got disqualified, it was the TEAM that got disqualified. I thought that was why Pete said if you had a questionable fish, don’t bring it to the scale, let somebody come to your boat and look at it before you bring it to the scale and get yourself disqualified. I am also willing to say I may have misunderstood that, but that’s how I took it to mean
@@TheReelFishermen right, I think you and I are in agreement, the only thing for me that was maybe a little iffy was that what I knew that Pete had shared I only knew from watching one of your live streams a few days before- but what I don’t remember for sure though was if what Pete said conflicted with the actual written list of rules at the sign in. It probably was on there in black-and-white. All I know is I was standing there when he tried to weigh those two fish, and one of them was wayyyy short - like it wasn’t even questionable, I didn’t think I was kind of shocked when they did not disqualify his whole team I didn’t raise a fuss, though, I didn’t even weigh a fish, so I didn’t feel like I had a dog in that fight 😂
I feel most people agreed with Dieter on his video cause he never clarified that the illegal fish was not weighted. Glad you did clarify that. Also the fact he implies they purposely cheated is distasteful.
First, I agree that I could have reinforced the point that the fish weights were not counted, even though that was shown in the video when the scale was shown and the weight was recorded. Second, I never implied they purposely cheated, only they know for sure if that was their intention by bringing undersized fish to the scales. We can all have our opinions on that. Regardless, the point of my video remains, they should have been DQ’d based on the tournament rules.
My basic question was this, and hundreds of people responded to my video with their opinion; if you bring undersized / illegally possessed fish to the scales, should you be disqualified since it is written into the rules that all state and federal laws must be followed? My contention is, if breaking state and federal laws is not grounds for disqualification, then remove the rule. Arbitrarily enforcing it sheds a bad light on the tournament and tournament fishing. Nobody knows for sure whether or not they did this on purpose or not, we all have our opinions on that. I believe everyone agrees that fish less than the legal length limit were attempted to be weighed, and that is where I like to hear other folks take. Good job JR….you and I should do a podcast on this topic of tournament rules, on what you should govern and what you should ignore. 😉
If the game warden pulls up on some young guys with a short fish they would probably cut them some slack.But somebody that gets paid to fish ticket every time that way if they don't know they will know for sure next time.

Yeah...dunno. If one of the fish was 3/4 of an inch short...that's not a "mistake." That's trying to skate one in under the radar. Meanwhile...wasn't there a qualifier on the tournament rules that you had to abide by all state regulations? If they brought short fish into the weigh in, that's a violation of state law. And it seems like the angler should have been DQ'd from the weigh in because of that. I don't who the angler is, but bringing in two shorts in a money tournament should have major consequences. But kudos to the angler for returning the money after the fact.
Some tournaments if a small fish is brought to scales the fishermen are disqualified or docked a certain weight amount on the fish that do qualify. Guess one would have to see the written rules of that specific tournament. Think both of you guys could be right good video
I have kept quite as long as I can! I am retired now but was a Game Warden in NC and worked Lake Norman for lots of years in late 90s and early 20s. Knew Bushwhacker from Midway .. That being said if I checked Bushwhacker on the lake and he had those two fish and he made a good argument he measured the fish and got 20 inches… I would have said “get your tape out and measure the fish and show me the 20 inches” … if he did I would take my rule and show him how to measure the fish the way I did… and say turn em back ! Problem solved sportsman educated … not saying he was wrong but that he knows how to measure the fish the way the “State” says they have to be measured. Then Bushwhacker can educate every client he has in his boat and now he doing my job for me! There is a difference in trying to take these fish illegally and measuring wrong and overlooking details! Common sense people !
I’m no fisherman like you guys but I agree with wes on the drag, have fought some on penn battle 2 4000 spinners while trolling eels and it’s a 10-15 min fight and not even on max drag which i believe is only 15lbs. We use same reels on 48 inch range drum and similar length cobia but then again i’m guessing some old fellurs probably could use the extra help with more drag haha
I've fish with both that dacron braided and mono line ,I've had luck with both and tie my own hooks, mono just easier and more readily available than dacron
I do not know any of you. I clicked on the wrong video. Human concentrations of rods and cones (colors and depths) are very mid-range--for average local viewing in day or evening. Start the boat trip over with an onboard long-distance camera already focused on said tower, and drive toward it. THAT would prove the earth is flat--here. Or: Prove that the "speck" your Pilot guy sees on the horizon is only the very top of the tower, but not the entire tower. THAT would prove the earth is curved--here. Who was promoting this 90 second boat trip; Globers or Flatheads? I get 2023 You Tube ads sometimes for a new Tactical Monocular that just zooms flat right up to miles away. That sounds really flat. Globers need to prove that we can only ever see the exact radius point where the globe would drop, and then we see blurry sky above it; but first they should look through one of these tactical monoculars.
Piscifun Chaos XS 50 has a floating spool and no not all Ambassadeurs have a floating spool. I fish for catfish and don't care how far it can cast. I fish from a boat. I have 5 old Ambassadeurs and until I bought the Chaos XS 50 I had never seen a floating spool. I pick the Chaos XS 50 over Ambassadeurs any day.
