There's no other redition better than this one. Intoxicating to the point that every time someone plays it, I expect what only Lonquich can convey and doesn't come of course.
I wonder how he does not have carpal tunnel sindrome sitting so high and with such low wrist....But otherwise gorgeous playing from musical point of view.
Same here, I have never heard of Lonquich or heard him play. I learned and performed these pieces years ago during a time of incredible grief and turmoil and at times I am hesitant to listen to them, they are so deeply personal. The interpretation is incredible and I would consider the Romanze a revelation. Many bravos!
op.118 Sechs Klavierstücke (1893) no.1 Intermezzo (Allegro non assai, ma molto appassionato) no.2 Intermezzo (Andante teneramente) no.3 Ballade (Allegro energico) no.4 Intermezzo (Allegretto un poco agitato) no.5 Romanze (Andante) no.6 Intermazzo (Andante, largo e mesto)
Ive trawled through youtube versions of this piece, which is one of my very favourites, a really powerful and deep piece. I think Alexander does a fantastic rendition of it, really beautiful. There are so many emotions conveyed in the piece, from mournful and melancholic to fanciful and dreamy. Thanks for sharing, i really enjoyed the performance.
Luke Smith It is truly one of my favorites of the more intimate pieces of Brahms. This pianist does a great job on it Thanks for sharing................... I have been wanting to learn it but I am too lazy Brahms is so much work.... worse than Beethoven in many ways.
Thanks for posting this. I think he does a really beautiful rendition, one of the best Ive heard. Ive not heard of him before. He gives it the grace and power it needs. Radu Lupu is my favourite, it takes my breath away - but this is really close.
