Wondering if there's anything you can do to avoid this. Even if done subtly it causes a whole defense disruption around the ruck in a play that's just on orange/red ground. It reminds me of that 2022 try from Australia vs South Africa tugging the player to not be able to drift and playing an inside ball through that channel. Although the worse of this match was the referee calling throws not straight from the Scrum twice to Fiji to Kuruvoli, and then when the All Blacks scrum half did the same Kuruvoli was asking the referee why did he allow the AB player to play it that way but decided to penalize him...

What worries me is it seems like the only way to truly create space is if a player is out of position or if you do things like this at the ruck (which everyone does) or legalised obstruction like Ireland does. If oppurtunities can only be created at the margins of the law then maybe the laws aren't fit for purpose

Thank you for providing the not so obvious tactics of the sly side of rugby, to those who are interested to keep learning. For someone who has been out of the game for 50 years, it can get confusing, as to what is and isn’t happening. Something that never changes is that the AB’s will always know how to extend the rules just beyond the limits, without getting penalised. Obviously they used to have Richie to drag even more of that into the game. It’s not that the AB’s always play better rugby, it’s just that they are very sly, and that allows them to capitalise on that, along with their allotted portion of 3 forward passes per match. Fortunately it only rugby.🤪 I’m aware as to how many Kiwis tend to loose their sense of humour about such things, but please be assured, I am only taking the piss, with my fingers crossed.

@@boswellwhanau Pardon me for daring to comment on your wonder boys who must not be commented on. It trust you will all continue to live up you’re own little goldfish bowl. 🤣 In my English sense of irony, I am aware of the way the game is played on the edge of the rules, it’s just that everyone knew as to how Richie was always in the ref’s face, and that obviously effected the game. He wasn’t silly. If I was the ref, I’d have given him a Yellow at the toss of the coin.😂

In strict interpretation, Perofeta did not bind onto Barrett but hit Steward in front of Barrett, therefore coming in from the side, so should be a penalty to England for offside. The All Blacks rucking technique was superior to England in this instance as Barrett was in a lower straighter body position than Itoje, whose waist was bent more.

The "on the limit" block on 12 saves it, I feel like without it 12 would still have managed to cover the space and therefore 13 drift to cover the "pop" pass that breaks the line. The play is good thought and the only reason they had to block the 12 is because the initial blocker play by england 12 was slightly early letting Russel partially slide on Care instead of letting 12 deal with it entirely on his own. But a great use of the dynamism of Earl with this play as he's quicker than most back rowers he can manage to interest Russel where with a slower 8 he wouldn't manage to run past scotland's back row

@ContactCoach

A lot of debate. As soon as the ref say's 'no try' then the protocols dictate it must be 100% conclusive. I think all watching probably know the ball was grounded but the protocols in this instance dictate that the try cannot be given. Rough one for Scotland in my opinion but I can see why it was not given.
