This was definitely the best era of the comeback versions of News At Ten. But by axing it in the late 90's, ITV handed their audience over to the BBC and Sky, who both pounced upon the opportunity to steal the 10pm news offering. ITV's current version is certainly the weakest among the competition. Sky have basically ripped-off the entire iconography of the old ITN show from its heyday, and it's probably the best News At Ten of today. ITV just handed it to them, by dithering on providing it themselves.
