Where the rideau river falls into the ottawa river is where the monster cats sit. You need a boat. Dusk and night is best. I've caught 25lbers and I've seen some bigger cats caught there. Cut bait works best.
I've got the 11-87 chambered up to 3 inch shells, been flawless I have a fibre optic green sight tube on mine and regarding loading I put on the safety, flip it over and hold the switch down with my left thumb and load with my right hand, much quicker.
That's why you have to know your long gun before you take it to the Field to hunt with it guy because I've hunted with Rem. Shotguns all four with the Auto loaders 1100 & 1187 both plus both Pumps 870 Express & 870 Wing Master but put the box good guns ,& fit most Folks! Yes I don't know why they never went with a Larger Rejector knob on the action .
There’s a wooden dowel inside the magazine tube(I believe it’s for duck hunting purposes) if you remove the barrel you can hold the lower half upside and get it to shake out, it will hold x5 2-3/4” shells there’s also some videos demonstrating it 🫡 enjoy
@@itswilliee REALLY!?!, I thought i needed that thing🤣🤣🤣 im definately removing it when i get home🤦🏽. I took it apart one day and lost one of the little black rings that sit on top of ,it and i paniced and havent shot it since then
@@PewdiePew92 🤣🤣 I would’ve done the exact same thing honestly lol but yea that little rod is just for duck hunters who can only have a max of 3 shells loaded at a time so the 28” comes as a 2+1 but remove that rod and it’s a 5+1. Fun fact it’s a 12+1 if you run mini shells 😁
I got mine a few years ago. It was a combo, and came with a 28" and 18.5" barrel. I use it mostly as a home defense and back-up SG, but I have taken it to the clay range. It's OK, but only as a novelty. I upgraded the trigger to the MCarbo trigger, but to be honest, I don't notice a whole lot of difference. So if this is what you can afford, it will do whatever you want of it, and for a long time.
Awesome hunt man duck hunting has been my favourite pass time I’m pumped to hit the Rideau river this year. Surprised you didn’t scare off the ducks with all that yelling lol i’m the same when i get excited.
The Roughness in cycling gun is definitely due to very POOR QUALITY CONTROL. For the expensive price it definitely will be the last Mossberg bought due to quality.
I can’t even remember the day I use a safety switch on a shotgun. It’s there but never use it. About the loading port- 1187 is not meant for competition shooting. Use mine for hunting, with a quick change of barrel I use for home protection. I like the way the loading port was done, it’s user safe. Unless you own one and read the manual, there’s no way anyone can reload that shotgun.
