35mm (and occasionally 16mm) scans of random and occasionally interesting things from the past when cinemas ran actual film.
We have invested a LOT of time and money into this project and are posting the files WITHOUT a burned-in watermark for those who want to download the videos for their own home private use. All we ask in return is for everyone to please show professional respect by LINKING to the video on our youtube page instead of re-uploading our videos to your channel or elsewhere on the internet (or selling them on physical media).
PLEASE UNDERSTAND IF OUR WORK IS RE-UPLOADED BY OTHERS OR SOLD ON PHYSICAL MEDIA TO PASS IT OFF AS THEIR OWN, WE WILL HAVE NO OPTION BUT TO WATERMARK OUR FUTURE VIDEOS OR TAKE OTHER ACTION.
100% of the content on this channel was scanned and restored by us from original film elements. If you are in need of professional film scanning services, please email us at the business inquiries email below.
Peter Jackson cigarette advertisements are very hard to find anywhere on the internet (except for the print ads, they can be easily found online with a quick and simple Google search). This commercial played on the cinema screens just 2 years before cinemas (along with all billboard and print media involved) were included in the mandated cigarette commercial ban, starting at the very end of 1990 and the beginning of 1991, in which ciggie ads were already banned on TV and radio beginning 1 September 1976, essentially the final day of broadcast for TV and radio ads involving ciggies (legally) was on 31st August 1976, after that day, the ban kicked straight into effect. And starting from 1973 onwards would see the long beginning of the end for branded ciggies, starting out as a simple small “WARNING - SMOKING IS A HEALTH HAZARD” tagline before gradually making the warnings bigger and more graphic overtime as people didn’t seem to take notice of the dangers of smoking cigarettes through taglines, to the point that Australia now has (possibly) the scariest Graphic Health Warnings on today’s ciggie packs. Fast forward to today, and chances are, the only Peter Jackson advertisements you’ll ever see on TV and hear on radio will be for their clothing line of products. Their ads only seem to air when they have a massive Half-Yearly Sale, or a Black Friday/Boxing Day sale or something like that, simply all of which have nothing to do with the Peter Jackson cigarettes of yesteryear.
Back in a time when Six Flags was awesome!!! I remember it well. The smell of creosote in the hot sun combined with the chlorine in the water rides and the aroma of fresh funnel cakes gave it a unique experience. I miss it so much!
What's crazy is that this video makes me realize that I must be getting old (47), as I remember this show, the boxy cars, etc., yet it feels so distant, almost like another lifetime. Surreal, really.
The Chevy Show ran for many years. I worked at Six Flags over Georgia in the early to mid 90s, and the Chevy Show was still there. The Show closed shortly after, however, but the building still remained up into the 2000s, first as an indoor scrambler. It has since been destroyed and part of Daredevil Dive roller coaster sits where it once was located.
