Heat and smoke rises. When you enter a potentially burning area the lower you are to the ground the safer you will be. I can't speak on him sweeping the area in front of him. Maybe it has to do with limited visibility in a fire?
Consider a fine detail change, life, layout, fire. Why? While it seems a small deal, consider the tool we should be using here, a TIC. As soon as you pop that door, scan. Scan low. The low scan will utilize the maximum amount of your pixels on the TIC. The victims are not often clearly seen on the tic. Due to head differences and shielding of victims they often are on grey scale not much different to furniture. This low scan will also be using the angle of view of the camera to show you furnishings, walls, hallways and doors, with often the lower portion of windows. Moving the camera to do a mid level scan then provides good contrast between the windows and doors and whatever elevated temps are at ceiling height. The elevated temps however can move you camera to low sensitivity mode where we will loose as much as 50 percent or more of our pixels. This makes for a poorer view to determine what we are seeing. While the scans only take a few seconds, choosing the right order to maximize precious pixels and solid shape recognition could make all the difference.
I find it amazing the amount of time people spend on this drill. This incident was a once in a lifetime occurrence. The issues that lead up too a burned out untenable floor below a crew who became separated and the result being trapped in a narrow confines with a small window. Far more valuable would be spending the time on first identifying tactics that will keep our people out of these situations and second, practice drills that happen over and over until they are perfect before practicing a drill that has never happened before or after in fire service history. Project mayday and NIOSH reports all demonstrate that the majority of maydays are accomplished by crews in the immediate area of the victims own crews. Spend our time ensuring that all interior crews are 3 people so two can help rescue the one. Practicing single person tactics normalizes the interior attack with in adequate personnel. Train the way we work. And normalize practices based in reality.
The Cleveland load need to be having the nozzle come from the top of the coils and it needs to be charged before moving forward with the nozzle otherwise you'll have lots of twists in the line
Looks like you’ve got some wasted movements in that deployment, why not just flip forward your nozzle and married couplings, and as you stretch back your “loops” maybe take the female coupling with you? Over all looks like a nice quick bundle to deploy

Well we simply don’t need large stone houses and solid wood for anything but framework. American architecture is meant to be mass produced. Really it was Levittown New York that pioneered cheap housing, every home in that city was a manufactured home, and after that everyone copied the idea and now we have many trailer parks in America that will literally blow away due to a hurricane, but we also have housing for everyone and it’s all brand new
@@pesfanbubuiala6068 ever put out a fire? No? Then shut the fuck up. They’ll take the doors from non burning areas and cordion off windows and holes in the roof that are giving burning rooms oxygen. It’s not that hard to simply just visualize, but I had it happen to my house a year back when it almost burned down.
In some situations doors will burn through and that will give a little bit of extra protection until either you get water on the fire or get out of the area
