What was once a little channel sharing POV videos from truck driving and farm equipment operation has now began its transition to a Montana snow removal channel. Welcome to Montana Metal!
Seat height where you can actually see in front of the truck, stock sun visor, and what sounds like a stock exhaust system on a 379?!? I was told this was only a myth! 😂 Seriously though, good driver and tough truck. Climbed right up without a hiccup and you never missed a beat.
This is maintenence plowing, while mainly spreading sand, on top of rough late season ice pack, with lighting as such that you can't actually see what's being moved. But nice job being snarky, would you like to make any more assumptions?
Well all those other videos I guess they are all doing it wrong because they are actually removing the snow from the ground!!! You can see the road every time they back up! Everyone else is doing it wrong??.? I want to see dirt in the snow then I know you are touching the ground!!! Go to Les Schwab and get some lower profile front tires so that the plow actually touches the ground!!! The first 5 minutes of your video you drive for miles with your blade up??? If there snow on the road plow it off! Go watch the other videos and see what your supposed to do @@MontanaMetalYT
Yet again... this is late season ICE PACK, with new snow being dumped on top, which I'm working on, and adding sand to ICE PACK. Big Sky Resort literally will not have visible asphalt or dirt, unless it's within a day or two of a STRIP DAY, where we strip off the ICE PACK, that you arrogantly assume is snow.... or it's above the freeze point for a whole day, with sun shining, and it hasn't been too many days since we've stripped. Montana, bud.. we don't salt our roads, and know how to drive on ice. The main highway had an ice layer that day too... gonna send a note to MDOT about their need for new plows and operators?
Honestly, the strangest thing to get used to for me, being an Arizona native, was the gear you wear in these conditions... and how you would often only run heat for the purposes of defrosting windows, and have windows and vents cracked to have a cool breeze coming in, otherwise you'd get sweaty, THEN you would get cold and can't do anything about it until you're dry. With the right gear, you spend more time trying to not get too hot, versus being cold. Cabs were definitely a good place to be though!
I came across your POV's 6 years ago and thought to myself that you were living my wish. Now I'm 25, a civil engineer and still think the same thing to myself. I wish you a safe journey! Greetings from Germany
Glad to hear it! I do love driving, but driving for a living isn't what I tend to do anymore. I'm in the process of revamping this channel though, and it will be making a transition into some Montana snow removal POVs... another job that I no longer do, but have a backlog of footage from the Winter I did. Thanks for sticking around, I appreciate it!
If you notice how I started the pickup and feedroll, it was using John Deere's smooth feedroll engagement function, which engages the clutches, gets everything moving, then ramps up to full throttle on it's own accord.
Watched this video 5 years ago and now I’m back and man can I say how this has impacted my life so much I wanted to be a truck driver so bad after this video and now I’m on my way to getting my license and a CDL to drive dump trucks😂
That's rad! I haven't been able to keep up with running this channel over the years, but I'm always so surprised by how many people have made actual life decisions based on some of these videos. That's something I never would have expected. I'm glad to hear you've found a path though, that's good stuff! Thanks for being here!
Still working toward adding more! I'm running out of what I have though, so you'll be seeing a transition to snow removal POV's before long. Thanks for sticking around!
Thanks! It's been an interesting trajectory! Finally in a spot to focus on this channel more. Thanks for sticking around. I'll be releasing a bunch of this old archive footage, and the channel will be changing around here soon, with some different types of new content coming in.
In most ag situations, the trucks have farm plates, so don't require a CDL. If you have a standard Class-D license, then you just need a current medical card to legally drive the farm plated trucks.
I haven't seen that checkpoint in the Foothills open the entire time I was working the lettuce season in 2021/2022 in Yuma. I'm reminded of the loads I would pick up from the fields in Wellton and Tacna, Az like on 51st and 1st by a small Mtn. just before the open desert that felt so isolated in the middle of the night me and some buddies in the lettuce fields would sometimes talk about other crazy stories that we would hear from other ag workers we work closely with. Also the day before I left Yuma to go back to Salinas, Ca Taylor caught on fire so I stayed a few more weeks working lettuce and cabbage there.
I like that truck and the camera view! I was wondering if you use a go pro to record your videos because I’ve been wanting to buy one to record for myself and was wondering if their worth buying?
Well, that's actually on the way, in one form or another. Lol. I live in an entirely different state, doing quite a few different things, but still often behind the wheel... Montana, plowing snow. Also, video production, just not about anything wheeled, usually. So, I'm beginning to pick away at some of the old backlog... like these first updates, from 2016. But, just today, I began mounting cameras on the equipment I'm running now. Loader, 5500 plow/spreader, dump truck, roll-off...
So I've been cruising around some old comments.... the channel changeover happened, and a video is posted about what I do besides driving truck. In case you're still curious. 😄
Hey! Thanks! Apologies for the lack of videos... I've learned I get too much in driver mode, and just do the job.. instead of just adding the management of cameras consistently. I also live an ever changing life, I replied to the latest comment with some details. I appreciate that you stuck around..
Yessir! Things are different, but I still have some of the old stuff like this in the hard drives... and started recording some new things today! Thanks for sticking around, man!
I became OTR truck driver while waiting for a new video from you! Still a newbie, and, today, hauling potatoes from ID to FL, I remembered your channel.
Thank you for share the video. ❤️🚛 Bendiciones y buen retorno a casa para todas y todos los camioneros del mundo, saludos de un futuro camionero de la CDMX. 🇲🇽❤️
