Would you recommend this or the 7'6" SFWW custom marbled LBSF rod? The higher rating (up to 250 lbs) of the PCH rod and the roller guides would take off a lot of the stress on the rod when fighting big fish. What are your thoughts? Thinking about going fishing with you boys when I go out to Pensacola! Thanks for the incredible videos. Best fishing channel on RU-vid
I found this on CharkBait, who sells this rod: "The first guide is an oversized wind-on roller to make sure your larger 50’s, 80’s and 130’s work without any issues." I have bought from them and they are great. Planning on potentially getting this for my Mak130 SEa II.
Set the drag like all other lever drags! Only adjust the preset knob in freespool. Turn forward to increase strike setting- turn backward to decrease. Push lever out of freespool to strike to check drag with a scale. If you want to adjust further rinse and repeat 🤘
Yes sir! That’s what we used it for! We did recently move up to the mak 16 size which is a little bit wider but with the right angler tuna 20-120 pounds wouldn’t be an issue
If you do your research well before giving accurate information to the community, the Difference is the drag system and the body. Saltiga has ATD drag system and all metal body while certate doesn’t have the ATD drag and Zaion body construction. That’s about it. Internals are same.
All of what you said is wrong. Certate sw does have the exact same atd drag as the saltiga. And the exact same aluminium body as the saltiga. The certate has a Zion rotor only. Some differences in magseal bearings and the saltiga has spool support bearings whereas the certate has a brass washer. And the differences in the handle/knob.
Personally, I would use the Alijo 12n 2 speed for deep drop slow pitch jigging. It would hold about 670 yard PE 3 (30 pound braid) and it would be perfect for fishing around 1000ft of water. It is light enough and powerful enough for most bottom fish. Or, fill it up with PE 6 (65 pound test) and jig for tuna. The Alijo feels like a good quality reel like the Daiwa Saltiga 35 2 speed (which is what I use) for about half the price
Absolutely, yes. The certate SW is extremely close to the saltiga, whereas the saltist is far from the certate. In terms of value, I believe the saltist is overpriced and is nothing more than a magsealed BG MQ, which itself is overpriced IMO. The certate on the other hand, is a slightly watered down saltiga. Looking at Daiwa's entire spinning reel lineup, the certate SW is possibly the best value for an absolute beast of a reel.
Getting one of these for the big boy hammerheads and tigers that I hook into during the spring and summer. I have a decent shark setup with a Senator 4/0 sized but it just doesn’t do enough with the drag to slow down the sharks on the first run when I hit the 8 foot mark in shark world
"XH" is the speed of the reel. Not extra heavy. "Extra high" if I am not mistaken. Monocoque is the body of the reel it's one piece with only the left side that screws out with a special tool to unscrew it. The certate should be protected by mag-seal. So less likely to have water intrusion.
Love these reels , but am waiting till Daiwa lets us buy the Magseal oil, as i cant send for service where i live. beautiful reels , but the magseal issue made me buy the Stella SW14k. but i really wanted the Daiwa
@SaltwaterGearReviews Not sure about that I have caught a ton of tuna, dorado and wahoo on wide reels and never had a problem. I kinda think just like lures they have to come up with something new to keep selling merchandise. The old stuff works just as good. Spectra Braid fishing line I have to say is definitely better, that is why you can get away with a little reel.
