As I learn through trial and error I bring anyone interested along on my adventure of rasing cattle in Oklahoma! I have alot to learn and the work never ends. My goal is mostly to document my journey like a sort of online journal and maybe help someone out who goes through the same problems I will encounter over the next few years, I have learned alot from other content creators and hope to provide some useful information and experience, as I gain it, to the platform.

My ford 4500 kill switch broke so I replaced it with a choke cable also. Way cheaper to just go to autozone and by a choke cable than to go to ford and buy the actual part. Just got a 580b last weekend so I am here to learn a thing or two.

Did you hone the bushes after reaming?
@GRTRanchadventures
@GRTRanchadventures Месяц назад
@@jonkutsch6171 no in this case the reamer left a really nice finish and in my opinion cross hatching is not necessary on oil injected bushings/bearings, but that's just my opinion I could be wrong. That said the dozer runs great now with no signs of excessive wear or trouble after the 20 hour oil change.
@jonkutsch6171
@jonkutsch6171 Месяц назад
yes. I use a 340 grit 14mm hone. The hone actually makes the bore more true too. I found it almost impossible to make an exact hole using a hand reamer especially if you did it by hand and that's why a drill works best but make sure the reamer spins straight in the chuck of the drill.Take your time on the first one and use it to adjust the reamer with it and if a little tight on the shaft use the hone to get your clearance. FYI the OEM shaft I got was .002 smaller in diameter than the original so the new Genuine rocker was too loose.
@jonkutsch6171
@jonkutsch6171 Месяц назад
@@GRTRanchadventures I found the hand reamer is impossible to leave to true round hole and that's why I use a drill but still it's a little off so honing will true the hole and knock down the high spots.
@GRTRanchadventures
@GRTRanchadventures Месяц назад
@@jonkutsch6171 be careful, you cannot hone a hole straight, just because it measures good all the way through the hole could be banana shaped. A reamer will produce a straighter hole but not perfect, the best result would be from boring the holee in a lathe or milling machine. Moral is, don't rely on inaccurate tools for precision surfaces. I know the adjustable reamer is not perfect but it is still orders of magnitude more accurate than a hone.
@jonkutsch6171

I fast forwarded to this video to the end hoping to see you actually lift these on and off with forklift. Didn't get to see that, lol, but I did get to see why I didn't think it was such a cool method. The point of the project, at least as I see it is for one person to be able to drive up and lift them off. But with this setup, you need a second person to hold the wire rope up while you drive the forklift in. Which basically eliminates the benefit of the project in the first place. My version would be too weld a piece piece of steel to the E Trac clip that could extend above the side board. Then I would set it up so that I could easily attach either a chain or cable snuggly between the two fabricated pieces of steel. At that point there would be space between the top of the sideboard and the chain or cable. Then with just one person, I could drive up and lift it off.

My guess is when you got done rebuilding your injection pump it was air bound. I had the same problem and I hooked up an electric fuel pump to the injection pump and hook my drill to the driveshaft turned the fuel pump on and spun it with the drill. It took about a minute and the injection pump was pumping just fine.

I know this video is older ,but at roughly 12 min in ,when u pulled the pump body off out came the bottom of the old weight cage with it still attached to the rotor with the snap ring than out came the new weight cage .Did you just stack the new weight cage assy on top of the old cage bottom plate and reassemble the last round. Something doesn’t look right . The new cage should be in place on top of the rotor with the timing mark transferred from the old plate and that old bottom plate should not be anywhere in that pump anymore.

Hey. Good video! I have a problem with mine. Hope you can help :) When i put it en gear, and move the lever on the steeringcolumn to forward. It is very weak and can not push it self if there is just a slight incline or a hole or anything. But in when i put it in reverse it has a lot more power and can easily get it self unstuck from af hole or something like that. Do you have any idea what i have to look at. I topped off the fluid on the transmission ( the big nut in the cabin closest to the windshield) But some say i should just use hydraulic oil in there and transmission fluid?? Hope you understand :)

Bummer I thought I was going to see the MS660 in action. Anyway nice job cutting up that mess. Need to look into that file, I like that. Not sure if it helps but I had same problem with a Stihl not revving. Checked all the obvious, and knew it wasn't the spark arrestor because I had punched out the screen years ago. After further inspection I found the muffler full of Dirt Dober mud Removed muffler cleaned it out all good now. TGP
@GRTRanchadventures
@GRTRanchadventures 6 месяцев назад
That's one of the first things I checked the muffler is clear I have some parts coming that I think will fix it, I'll post the video when they get here. The 660 would have been the saw for the job but it was still a box of parts when I cut those trees, looking back I should have waited until it was ready but I'm still waiting on the bar oil tank vent valve to make the saw usable. I had a timeline on putting them on the ground because I chipped up the smaller limbs for my sister as mulch for her birthday present, so I had to get it done but I'll have some 660 content coming as soon as I get the valve!

In my part of Oklahoma 38" trunks are huge most of our trees are in the 12-20" size. So it may not be impressive if you're used to redwoods or big firs but those are the biggest sticks I've ever felled.
