It came with the components to charge the phone. It uses a thermal electric generator to generate power and some circuits and a Li-ion battery to hold the power generated.
Hello, good sir! This looks pretty good as a biolite alternative, but at 100€ I wanna be sure before buying. Do you mind helping out a bit by answering some questions? Is it still going? How many times have you used it? How fast is a boil of 500ml? If you have any other wood/twig/gasifier stoves, is this one your favorite? Why/whynot? Thank you ever so much!
It is still going but I have only used it a few times. It takes about 5 - 8 minutes to boil 500ml of water. I haven't timed it exactly. I have no other wood/twig stoves. I got this because it is an interesting stove but I tend to use my various Trangia stoves more.
The Biolite is easier to set up & use. These look like cheap knock offs. I got my Biolite 5yrs ago & it’s my favorite stove. I seen that Flame Cube has a newer stove on their RU-vid that was posted 3 months ago that I’m interested in. It’s more like the Biolite but more compact. The video shows it using gas also & that’s one up on Biolite. I like how big the grill is for one hamburger & the grill on the Biolite is too big for backpacking. I found this video looking for that newer Flame Cube but only seen the one video of it so far. I’ve seen other videos like this & they have a water cooler hooked up to it which is too complicated & more things to go wrong with it. I would still stick with the Biolite but I’m still interested in that newer Flame Cube.
I've had this since 2016 and it works as it did when new and with no noticeable deterioration in appearance. It's so quiet that I sometimes have to stoop down and look to see if it's lit. I would advise keeping the pot habitually locked onto the burner to avoid accidentally damaging the piezo igniter wire. I use it in the Scottish wilderness and for picnics. I got it for 50 quid and look forward to many more happy excursions with it.
Hello, Thanks for your video. Can you tell us the weight of each item ? inner tent ? outer tent? pegs? tail pôle? ropes ? Can the outer tent be set up without the inner tent ? Thanks a lot. Guillaume Guillaume
I've had a change to get the tent out and weigh it. My scale is a vintage mechanical one and only has graduations in 50g increments. I have also replaced the pegs: the majority with titanium nails and the balance a mix of v and shepherd hook ones. My pegs and the small end pole weigh approx 100gm. The inner tent weighs approximately 400gm. The Fly with the guylines attached weighs approximately 400gm. I am not sure if the outer tent can be set up without the inner tent. It may be possible but given in the conditions I am likely to use this tent in, in New Zealand, there will always be small biting insects around I will not be trying without the inner mesh.
Tks for this vidéo - I see You are as tall as I am 168 - so the tent is rather small - and not seeled,. So I will go for a Lanshan 1 (pro or not) a little more expensif but bigger and lighter. Thanks a lot, you saved me for a "missed buy" (achat manqué)
The tent is seam sealed on the main seams on the fly. It is just not sealed on the hem of the fly. It is a quite small tent however and doesn't have a large vestibule.
I haven't had this tent in a heavy downpour yet. I've been dry in light rain. If there was heavy rain forcast for where I was planning to go I'd either take one of my larger and heavier tents for more room inside or because tramping in the South Island often involves lot of unbridged river crossings I'd possibly postpone my trip.
I'm curious about the waterhead too. The shape of the tent means rain falls at an angle so it doesn't have to be as waterproof as other models. My Hexpeak was 'only' 2000mm. Which I lost last week!!! Fell off my bike ( recumbent trike). I know where. Heard it. Didn't stop. Thought is was something else. Damn. Luckily I used it with the Lanshan inner and carried that fly also. I love my Lanshan 1 BTW. The old one. Not the Pro. So now I'm looking to buy a cheap tent as a backup. Maybe the 160cm high Aricxi so the Hexpeak inner will fit? Or another Chinese teepee with 2000mm or so waterhead? Doesn't seem much. But like I said, a tent with that shape will never have pools of water on it like a tunnel tent.
I found it interesting to see how you pack, but, this is just for an overnight trip, correct? So what, 30 hours tops? I feel you've over packed. If you are walking with your bag, every gram counts. Yes, if you split things up in one day (or 2 day) rations, it might take a little longer to pack but I feel I may just pack less weight in my bag. Ah, I just read your description (the part that was cut off by youtube). You mention the same thing there.
My usual packing for an overnight trip takes longer. I do make my food smaller. Enough for two days, plus a day's worth of emergency food. I take about 200ml of alcohol for the stove. I do take a lighter pot and alcohol stove. As i replace gear I tend to get lighter stuff but it comes down to a price/ weight compromise.
Again no offence to the poster of this video. Mummabearist you are right in your comments, but not everyone knows about horses and the owner of these ponies plays on that. I thought the boy on the black pony was going to come off.
No offence to the person who posted this video. But the comments below are right. These poor ponies are not well looked after at all. It's sad that the owner of these ponies gets away with it, but he plays on the general public just not knowing what is right and wrong when it comes to horses. And I wish he'd stop setting up in the middle of the playground!!!
