WHO IS THE BROMPTON TRAVELER
Gianni was born in a small town in the Italian Alps. The desire to cycle along some of the most beautiful roads in the world is the inspiration behind his traveling videos. I discovered how a folding bicycle is the perfect tool to get to know this beautiful Earth we share. He is the author of "Unfolding Travels", a travel book that can be purchased via Amazon in ebook or paperback format, with original illustrations and maps that tells the stories behind these videos.
Hello Gianni, it's nice to hear from you again and see your trips. I was surprised by the mechanical failure of your new larger touring bike, after only 3 months of use. If you compare it with your trips on a Brompton in the past, as you point out, you miss the simplicity. Have you ever had such a major mechanical failure with a Brompton in the first few months of use?. I look forward to your next trip, all the best for you, take good care of yourself and may your new bike accompany you, may it not give you any more worries and failures, may it let you enjoy your trips without problems. Thanks for sharing.
Hi, enjoy your travel videos. But it says, Brompton traveller, but I can see from your camera you are riding a bike with dropped handle bars. Looks like a road bike and not a Brompton!
I hope you are feeling better, Gianni. I'm so pleased that you've got the rear wheel fixed - it's a great video on the realities of cycle touring. Something always goes wrong when you least want it to!! I love the initial clips of Tallinn - the old city is such a beautiful place but with a bit of a dark history! Bon voyage as you head south.
Hope you are feeling better? I am enjoying the view over your front bag, from that protected perch looking out at what you are recording, without my needing to cycle to see it. Thanks for making all the videos so full of beauty and serenity.
Hi, i just found your spot and am very much looking forward to watching more. Could you tell me if you feel you absolutely nailed the route you wanted or would you change anything and if it was perfect, would you be able to share the route as i may ride down to see my sister down near Vasto in spring? Thanks John. P.s. did you camp?
Nailing a route in Europe where there are many roads connecting countries and cities is very subjective. This was during Covid and for the most parts I followed the simplest route from England to Italy. It is part of a Eurovelo route along the Rhine river through Holland, Germany and Switzerland. Mostly flat up to Switzerland and goes through nice towns and sceneries. Thanks.
Indeed Alex, I knew some bad days were part of the deal! Only experience teaches you how to go through them. Touring strips lots of the distractions and comforts mechanisms that we use to deal with a bad day in our routine of lives. This makes it more difficult and challenging at times. Bike fixed! Thanks
I'm glad the weather has been kind to you. The calming music and narrative make's for an enjoyable experience, thanks for sharing Finland a place i must get to .
I see that you're headed south. Stay warm. Hope that you can stay at least one storm ahead of the snow. You're the best. I got into Bromptons because of you. Love my bike. Gave up my car (and truck). Will never go back. Just had my 76th birthday. Feel great. Love your amazing videos. The world you depict is too precious to throw away. See the world. Save the world. Going green is the new golden rule.
How kind of you! Wonderful to have inspired some of your choices. Even thoguh I am currently using a bigger bike on this tour at times I really miss the simplicity of a Brompton!
It’s an amazing route, and if I remember almost entirely on surfaced roads so no worries there. I don’t use Strava or Komoot but it is a very popular route and a quick search will give you many gpx fioes to use. Enjoy.
Super video. For a second I thought you were meeting Jussi Björling, the great Swedish tenor lol, but then the beautiful song by Melanie Bell played and I enjoyed that. It's heartwarming that there are so many wonderful and helpful people in the world that welcome you to their homes. Greetings from Oz.🙃
Beautiful video once again - thank you. Can't believe the lovely weather - how lucky. Finland's countryside reminds me a lot of down here in New Zealand - nature, wide open spaces, calm. It's now on my bucket list. Safe travels to Tallinn - looking forward to your next video.
Another great video, thank you Gianni. Finland looks a great at this time of the year. Back in 1987 my wife and I did the European Ironman championships in Joroinen (north of Helsinki) - it was beautiful - lots of rolling hills and pine forests. The swim, however, was particularly cold and not one I would want to repeat again!! Enjoy Estonia.
Don’t normally bother my wife with RU-vid videos, but when you post a new one, up it goes on the TV as she enjoys them too - a balance of good photography, music and often stunning scenery. I suppose you’re headed home now, but what do I see in the announcements online today that made me think of your channel? Brompton has released a model G - 20” gravel tires and a longer wheelbase that sounds like it was tailor-made for your travels. Keep up the good work, Gianni, it’s much appreciated. Victoria, BC, Canada
Next up for us are the islands of Haida Gwaii - the land of the totem poles, off the northwest coast. There are roads, but the best places are only available by boat, in the company of the Haida watchmen. Wish I had your skills as a videographer, as it will be the trip of a lifetime. Perhaps you could do a video on tricks and techniques for us all!
@@davidcottrell570 Sounds exciting! I had done a 2 parts video on filming and editing! A little outdated maybe by now but gives a few tips…Editing A Bike Movie ( Part 1 ) ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-NJSBoJSBMtM.html Otherwise like most things it takes practice. Have a great trip when the time comes!
Stunning scenery and what an achievement climbing those hairpin bends and taking drone footage too!! I'd have been too shattered to even think of filming, you really have some stamina, keep up the great trip and thanks for sharing.
Thanks 👍I don’t mind the uphills provided I get decemt weather! Once you get into the rhythm with a little patience you get there! Filming does take some extra time for sure, especially the drone…thanks for watching.
Another great video. A beautiful and scenic landscape, new features at every single turn. I guess the next step is to get to Stockholm and then to take ferry across to Finnish town of Turku. Is this the last vid from cycling in Norway?❤
That's the plan! I could not fit the footage of Norway into 2 which was the original plan, so I made an extra one. Next I took a ferry to Åland Island and cycled to Turku amd down to Helsinki. Will be out when I get the time! Thanks!
Great pitch of the tent under the shelter🙂. Very good point about video's not often showing rain, when things get bad the last thing you want to do is get a phone camera out to capture the downpour, you might end up with a broken wet phone into the bargain !!. Looking forward seeing your journey continuing in perfect weather 😂😂😂
Nice scenery and all that, but… no insights into anything but your own experiences? I am looking for more insights into the culture of the places that you’re riding through. Sorry, but I’m unsubscribing. Happy travels.
As much as possible I follow cycle routes and when these are not available choose smaller roads. Scandinavia is not overly crowded though, so even on larger roads traffic is not excessive.
Thank you for sharing another beautiful trip, I enjoy seeing each of these beautiful journeys and those landscapes are impressive, until the next video. A big hug👌💫👍🚴♀️💫✨😊
Glad to see you upbeat and optimistic despite the vagaries of the weather. Weather whether good or poor is all part of the adventure. Some of my most memorable adventures have been in bad weather. :)
Great video!! Thanks for posting. I love the opera house that you finished at - did you walk up onto its roof? There are some superb views across the harbour. Good luck with you travels - I'm looking forward to your next video!!
How do you compare the full size touring bike to the Brompton? I found your channel recently and loved all your expeditions on the Brompton. And a big thank you for taking the time to share all that you have done so far😊
Hi Gianni, it is Maryam here. Abu Maryam means Maryam's dad. That is how dad likes to be known on RU-vid account that co-own. It seemed you were sad and philosophical while cycling through the beautiful Kent countryside. While one could understand you're leaving England for good, dad and I really hope that is not the case. Even if it is the case that you had to leave the UK, you're always welcome back here. In fact, you are the true citizen of the world. I say this as you truly embrace the people, respect and love their cultures wherever you visit. You're an ambassador of goodwill of the humanity. Keep it up Gianni.🌎🚴❤
