My name is Karolina Bąkowska and I am a textile artist. It means that my works are made of fabrics. I live and work in Szczecin (Poland). Colors are my greatest passion, in general, because I can be inspired by a green cucumber, a colorful sunset or a red car. I love colors, without them the world would be so gray. That’s why I express myself through colorful fabrics and threads. While creating, I rely entirely on my intuition to make my works one hundred percent authentic.
Art quilts are my favorite things to sew and my favorite technique is the raw edge applique. From several years, my works have also been created in the form of postcards. I really like this format.
With my work, I try to encourage people to try sewing, both manually and machine. I discovered the love of sewing quite unexpectedly, and I would like others to experience it too - because sometimes it is enough to pick up a needle to cheer up yourself.
How do you set up the machine? Do the feed dogs get out of the way with stitch length 0?
8 месяцев назад
With the stitch length 0 the feed dogs don't move forward and back. If you want to lower the feed dogs you need to loosen the screw under them, lower them by hand to the level of the needle plate and tighten the screw back so that they stay in this position 😊
@ thanks so much for your prompt answer! Is this what you do, or does it work well also if the feed dogs go over the stitch plate? It might create too much friction?

If you leave the feed dogs over the level of stitch plate it may disturb your quilting. I know people who simply cover the feed dogs with something while quilting, but I prefer to lower them, then nothing bothers me when quilting. I've been doing this for years and I'm happy with it.
Thankyou- I have been thinking of buying one for a while I thought I would be able to quilt with it. Can you tell me is the machine noisy?

It is not noisy, I use it at home and no one has complained. I don't know if all models are like this, mine is Juki DDL 8700 with an energy-saving motor.
🕰 How long from start to finish? Your quilting is mesmerizing!

Thank you ❤️I really don't remember exactly, it was so long ago. The quilting itself did not take me more than an hour and a half, not counting the preparation. I would probably do it faster today 😊
Where do you get your inspiration from? Do you take photos and from those create your postcards?

From world around me, nature is my biggest inspiration. I take pictures, sketches - what I create is usually a composition of everything that I have seen myself.
This is beautiful! I love the brown fabric that you are using! When your fray it, the orange thread gives your piece so much added interest! You are so talented!
Hi, what is this foot called? I would like to buy one like this but I can't find it anywhere. All I can find is the one for the domestic machine. Please suggest where it van be purchased from.
