I found this scene a bit disappointing, the way Locke's father interacts with Sawyer is almost like a cartoon villain. No nuance or depth, they just wanted to make him as dislikable as possible for the payoff at the end of the scene.
At this point in the series, the Others were thought to be these cannibalistic predators. Tom, as we later learned his name was, was referred to as “Mr. Friendly” and, as a result of this scene, “Zeke.” He was also believed to be the leader of them. This was the version of the Others I missed in later seasons. There was so much mystery and intrigue about them. And they were pretty terrifying, too.
I was trying to sleep but my mind went to something that was obviously noticed by others back then. I connected Bell with the “tower” that his office was at, near the top. “Bell Tower.” Quasimodo, ringing a bell for celebration, fire, death. Usually the highest point in a town.
An evil man killed by another evil man. What I truly found disgusting about this episode is how so many cheered Sawyer's murder of Anthony Cooper. Because he was such a big favorite and Cooper was far from a nice guy, many saw nothing wrong in murdering another person for the sake of petty revenge. What I found even more disgusting than Sawyer's murder, was how Locke had manipulated the younger man into committing the act, because he didn't want to do the deed himself. And Locke didn't want Cooper dead in retaliation for the latter's attempt on his life three to four years ago. Locke simply wanted Cooper dead in order to show that he had passed Ben's test. I'm just . . . I don't know what I found more disgusting - Ben's test, Locke's manipulation, Sawyer's petty revenge or the fans' cheers over what happened. Ugh!
@@hockeyfan145 You mean . . . like so many did when Michael killed Ana-Lucia and Libby? Why is it a crime to react emotionally over a story? Are we all expected to behave like Vulcans?
Is it ever revealed how Dale the whale knew that were Warwick Tennyson The guy who made the bomb was involved? Which let him to New York, which led him to the six fingered man that planted the bomb
Here’s a theory, Tiberius likes all women but hates all men. Maybe it’s a jealous thing. Because he doesn’t have a problem with Megan (or obviously Mrs. Hayfer) but is vicious to everybody else
I believe he choose to kill himself because he knew the pain he caused but first he wanted to see the results of his actions. He wanted to create something worse than him but he created a hero.
Let me tell you, my jaw dropped when the gunshot happened. I honestly didn’t see it coming and that goes to show how well written this scene was!!! 😮😃 I’m still amazed at how much depth they gave to a seemingly minor character!!!
Kevin Tighe played such a good scoundrel in the show, and really let Sawyer bounce off him. It's always so cool to see great character actors do their thing in good shows.
The patience Sawyer/James had with this man was amazing. He'd waited so long to kill him, but I can't help but think that, if the dude had shown remorse, S/J would have just walked away.
Yeah, the moment that gets me is when he tears up the letter. Dude, if someone is that adamant that you finish a letter, and the first half you already read pretty much spells out that you f%^&ed the guy's mom and are responsible for both his parents' deaths, you probably should know that you literally looking death in the face. But true to form, 'Tom Sawyer' was a d%^k right to the end. I'm all for law and order, but yeah... I'm on board that James is the judge, jury, and executioner in this moment. This guy had every chance to repent, and instead, flaunts his crimes.
