Very valid information on transferring money into another currency. You likely have to track what the value of the dollar is and strategically send the money when the value of the US Dollar might be down? Aren't there bank accounts you can open that lessens the impact of money exchange issues? I've been watching the 'cruise ship' employees & Below Deck; and that was one of the money saving items they had mentioned.
You can certainly choose to track the won to dollar rate and try to time it to get the best price. At EPIK orientation we were instructed to open an Remittance Bank account that lessend the cost of transfer fees but you'll still have to deal with the overall exchange rate at the time. Some fellow EPIK teachers I know use 'Sentbe' and say it's super cheap to transfer money back home which could even be less than a remittance bank account, maybe that's worth looking into!
Good vlog, it reminds me of Myeongdong in Seoul , we can see faces of K-pop on stationeries, and also we can see traces of Winter Sonata, Autumn in My Heart, or My Sassy Girl on displays. I tried to make a vlog about this in ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-PtPqXrBrARg.html hope you also like it.
EPIK provides your apartment for you! They'll hook you up with a place for free that would usually run for about 400,000korean won per month and still pay you the full salary too.
thank you so much for this video! i was wondering tho, is daejeon, daegu, chungcheongnamdo or chungcheongbukdo rural as well? trying to find the best province to live in.
Thank you so much for making this video! I'm a senior in university and I've been doing my research on EPIK and I haven't seen anyone else talk about the reality of paying student loans off while in Korea. This was so helpful and reassuring that it is possible.
I’m so happy I found this video. I’m also SE Asian and I’m from America as well. I wanted to know what are some things I could face whenever I go. Thank you for sharing!
I NEVER knew about student loan in Singapore. i was sponsor by military for studies. My sister borrow my mom retirement funds run by govt. of coz after she grads she got to pay it back within few years . probably just 2 to 3 hundred a mth. if i had to borrow so much money from banks to study college. it aint worth it.
Greetings from Australia. I wrote this song, called 'the cost of living free': ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-d9qXckqA-Dg.html I hope you will listen and Enjoy!
Hiii thank you so much for this informative awesome video. I heard that if you work for EPIK they pay for your apartment but utilities the people would have to pay is that true?
OMGGGG I cannot believe you are located so close to me! I'm about 1-2 hours away from Houston. I am so glad I found your channel because I hope to one day go to South Korea!
Proud and excited!! If you wanna send some mangoes this way too I'll be happy to accept- I'm not trying to pay 8000 W for one lmao. P.S the Haikyuu stickers :D
Thank you for this video! I have no teaching experience and just recently got my BA and want to apply through EPIK to teach in the spring at sk. I’ve always wanted to teach but I’m a little nervous when it comes to ideas for lesson planning. Like how you execute the lessons in a fun, interactive, educational way. & can the same lesson plan be used for other classes you have or when does it need to change. I also saw your other video of “don’t come to teach in Korea if” & I like to believe I have what it takes to teach there and I can adapt to last minute things, but I just want to know a little bit more on what exactly last minute surprises are, like does impact lesson planning? Sorry for so many questions. 🥺
You have done so much to make it your own, I admire your determination and creativity! I also love the way you optimized the space in here, very impressive with your designs.
