Hello! I'm a former teacher, an introvert and a Minnesotan. I live right in Minneapolis, MN with my husband and 2 dogs, but we plan to relocate somewhere warmer when we retire. I made the leap and started making videos hoping that my experiences with planners (and the ga-zillions of things I've accumulated over the years to use with them) might be of help or inspiration to others. I enjoy watercoloring & fountain pens. I'm not fancy and I acknowledge my quirkiness and selectiveness when it comes to all things around me. I live for a good quest. :)
Hi. Found your video really helpful. I’m considering moving from Roterfaden to Plotter. Loved your find at Amazon-Japan. What color is that plotter? I’m trying to decide between the dark and light brown in the Pueblo leather.
Have just started my own ink journal, so am watching videos again to remind myself what others did that I liked. I love your Ink Art which I've also seen done before and think I'll try for myself. In your Ink Journal 2 with your ink/pen pairings, may I ask where you got your dashboards (dividers) from? They are perfect for an ink journal!
I’m doing this too and my plotter is on its way. May I ask though why you didn’t just cut from the center so you don’t cut off any of the space on the days/dates side?
I think my thoughts were that I couldn’t rely on that edge being chopped off straight w/the exacto knife from hand cutting; that hand cut side might not be exactly the same or exactly straight on every page. Probably doesn’t matter if you are super careful & precise with your hand cutting. Hope that makes sense!
@@doris1998 I’m sure it could work either way! I just prefer to trim off the edge I hand cut, I guess! Still drinking coffee…maybe I’m not understanding! lol! I just prefer to keep the factory cut side in tact whenever possible
i had the thought to do this exact experiment today and i am so glad i was able to find your video to see how i could do it! thank you for sharing, such a brilliant idea!
Thank you for sharing your thoughts and tips. I just bought a bible size plotter at a Pen Show. Feeling more confident how to use. I'm in a new chapter of my life, looking for simplicity, flexibility, and a qood quality leather. 😊
I feel the same way about a bound notebook -once you have 5 or 6 pages from something else, it's tough to try and use it for something else. I love systems like this with removable pages. And I can't resist a good leather cover too. So, I like Plotter - I have a mini 6, but I think my favorite is William Hannah. Similar price range, but I like the paper better and the color options because they have an inner suede lining too. I just made an unboxing and review video on those because I feel like they are less well known. Great video, I like that you have dedicated notebooks for different things, makes so much sense.
When I was watching your video and you started comparing leathers and then hole sizes?! **swoon** I loved the video. Thank you so much for such detailed info on your Plotters! 🙏🏼 ❤ 😊
Hi Robyn, I’ve been a Gillio tragic for years (as I think you have). I’m just learning about Plotter, their slim profile and portability. Your video’s been so helpful. Thanks so much for sharing.
I am looking at purchasing my first plotter mini 5. I was hoping you could point me in a direction to help with finding accessories for it. Like dividers. If most things are homemade what do you use as a hole punch? (Assuming it isn’t a standard size hole) I am also trying to decide being the Pueblo and Bridle leather. I cannot seem to find a video detailing their differences. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Hey! This video has my thoughts about the leather choices as well as a smaller hole diameter punch I found on Amazon. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-uoqojtIAkVI.htmlsi=O-otdULspRD3YwHV I *think* it’s the same video you commented on…maybe I’m not understanding your question??? Finally got a stretch of days off…I’ll try to film & upload something!
Thanks for the inspiration. I love my Weeks but needed the rings of a Plotter. I do have a question with the punch you mentioned (& I have): The Narrow size is the Personal on the punch, correct? Did you just use one side and flip them?
Yes, I do punch then flip. That punch is tricky!!! I STRONGLY recommend practicing on some scratch paper cut to the narrow/personal height. If I use the guidelines on the punch, it is off. I also found the silver dots on my punch DO make the punches line up correctly! I’ll try to make a video…. Do you have personal/narrow pre-punched pages of any kind?
@@rc17268 Yes, I did practice & finally found the right little mark (between the Personal & A6 ) and made a tick with a marker. That seemed to work perfectly.
I have a Kaweco Sport <B> with a gold nib (not an actual gold nib, just color-wise). I have to say, I prefer my silver-nibbed Kawecos much more. It doesn't seem as smooth and the feed seems weird. The cartridges don't fit in it as well, it never feels fully pushed in. Shimmering inks do not work what-so-ever. My other two Kaweco Sports are Medium nibs and they perform outstandingly well. Maybe I just got a bad one. Would love to hear what others have to say as well.
thanks for the overview. I use mine the same. simplistic, minimalistic. hate overstuffed planners. will you be cutting hobo weekly for 2024 as well or will you be getting Plotters weekly for 2024? curious how will you be doing these in 2024.subbed for more. ony hope plotter will be selling their puncher. great find of the 4mm puncher. excellent
Thanks for sharing all this. I have the Mini and a Mini 5 I use as a daily wallet. I love them both. I ise a Kaweco brass liliput pen in my mini 5 and a kaweco supra brass for my mini. They both have a clip and I found if you just tighten the ring up a bit before sliping it on the pens it has been great with the plotter pen loops. Video is a great help for all the options plotter has. I found the Repesco punch works hreat for both plotters.
@@rc17268 I admit I have a brass in every type of Kaweco and use them as my daily driver go everywhere pens. They patina so awesome and are indestructible. All my other pens ride around in a case. The brass kaweco are out in the wild. Love them worth every penny.
Couldn't use my Hocoro until I got the feeds for them. It's a completely different experience. Also I smoothed them a bit by writing on a brown paper. They were pretty scratchy right out of the box.
If you want to save a little bulk I purchased some self-adhesive pen holder with elastic from Amazon and stuck it to the band lifter. It also means I don't have to worry if my pen is skinny enough to fit in the Plotter holder.
I feel you on the Plotter craze. Last year I slowly acquired one of each size (Pueblo leather is my fave). Then they came out with the limited blue ones with silver hardware so now I also have an A5, Bible and Mini 6 to match my blue/ silver Mini 5. Mini 5 is a great pocket/wallet EDC but I’m loving the Mini 6 the most. Just the right size for me. The interior roughness started to soften up for me. Feels more “finished” now.
I’m absolutely loving my two! (I’ve now got a pre-loved limited blue Bible size on the way…). I’m keeping my eye out for pre-loved A5s…they’re hard to come by.
I love how you referenced the ebbs and flows and how the hobby is pick-upable. I totally agree! Thank you for sharing your journal. I love your green page with all of the colours on one page...even though green isn't my favourite colour, it is wonderful to see them all there.
very cool colors. when i have problems with ink flow, i run the pen under cold water. warm water can make the metal nib expand too fast and crack the section plastic. very cool video!
I use a mini (6 ring) as a daily carry commonplace book and the mini 5 as a wallet planner. This is working so well for the last six months now. You will be happy in your decision I think.
@@rc17268 I use the 5mm dot grid setup an index in the front and use it as the questions, quotes, verse, and thoughts I have and read during the day. I name them with the year and the volume number ex. 23-5. Then use an A5 dot grid to sit and write in depth about those items. I reference the mini using a decimal page number in my A5 index ex. 23-5.43 (year 2023 5th 5mm book of the year page 43). Has been working great for me.
I've fallen deeply into the Plotter rabbit hole. I won't reveal the obscene degree of my Plotter spending, but I will say this: the mini 5 is literally the best wallet setup I've ever had, and it's the most functional of my (copious) binders. Enjoy! (P.S. I get what you mean about the zipper insert... it's quite bulky and so far mine has remained empy. 😂)
The plastic pocket is designed to go past the pages so that you do not have to lean on the Zipper that is why it is designed the way it is. Would be curious if you repunched it will be smaller and then the Zipper will hit the pages
I tried adding it…didn’t like it. I’m thinking that the zip pocket insert/accessory might be better suited for the larger planner sizes, or for someone using the smaller sizes as a wallet… the mini 5 has so little real estate…I’m not willing to give up a millimeter! :)
I agree I am waiting on my Bible Plotter to arrive I’m in Australia and had to send it to my Son who lives in Pittsburgh and then he had to send it on to me because no one will ship to Australia which is frustrating I also go the Wuzhi to see how it holds up I thing the Zipper will be better in the Bible or larger styles too because the smaller ones are like you say small and you loose too much writing space as it is.
I started there!!! They don’t sell narrow or mini5 anything. BUT…I’d love to try Bible & A5 sizes! ;) does your code work for Plotter items? Dromgool’s now has some, too! I think Plotter did a pop-up there…not sure if they’re selling off what they have, or if Plotter will be a regular item with them. (I’m surprised Yoseka doesn’t carry this brand!!!)
@@rc17268 bummer! I hoped it was a solution! Oh I don’t know for sure. 😬 I’ll have to check. Works on a lot of brands i didn’t expect but maybe not plotter. It would be great if dromgooles added them. Yoseka would be a dream too!!
I deconstructed my weeks one year and punched it and put it in a personal rings planner. The paper held up well and I loved the ability to add additional pages.
