I kayaked this entire river when I was 16,I'm 38 now! Boy..the first time you fall into these rapid's will traumatize you forever! Watching your video I remember it like yesterday lol
Hello, I watched a lot of ypur videos...wanting to do our own trip in 2025. Any information you can provide for a newbie to rafting? Have several trips / hours in a canoe with class 3s /4s (eastern) so not new to the river. Wanting to rent a raft and self guide. Thanks for all your amazing videos. Love watching you row!
Its the same as learning to ride a bike, Youll get the feel for it in no time. You might eat a $#!t sandwich occasionally but youll get the hang of it.
I was fortunate to drive down to Leslie Gulch and then kayak up & down river over a couple days in May of 2023. What I saw then is wonderfully multiplied by this video. Perhaps the most beautiful place in Oregon!
really appreciated the tour and the pains you took to keep turning the raft so we would have a full appreciation of the beauty of the river. I have roots back to Starvation Point but have never seen the river so thank you.
These are clearly runs by an experienced guide with probably multiple Grand Canyon trips in their resume. I would also guess a guide with commercial experience somewhere. Why? No gloves, an awareness of where the oar is at all times (that is, taking shallow strokes in House Rock for example), knowing where the boat is in the rapid at all times, the entry to Hance, where he caught the Duck Pond like it was simple, because it is at these levels -- lots of reasons. The only very minor faults I saw was Dubendorff, where I would have been farther right, and Lava where I would have been farther left. But hey, minor quibbles. These runs were uniformly spot-on! Congratulations!
Spring is about the only time you can catch it running good enough to raft. Dont be surprised by huge crowds at the put in. A late fall trip in a tandem IK might be great.
Great video, I am paddling it next Jan/Feb for the first time. Your lines and command of the raft are way better than some other videos I have seen. I can tell you know what you are doing. Would have loved to see the names of each rapid for my reference. Thanks for sharing!
Great trip. What was the rapid/hole that nearly had you at 10:51. The low water level makes everything look a bit different. You say to the river, "do I know you?"
WOW! So cool and exciting white water rapids ride. The Grand Canyon is an amazing natural sculpture. Thank you for this incredible video. New friend here. Stay safe and connected.
