Hi Ethan, I did already create the server and had it running but I used "java -Xms4G -Xmx6G" and wanted to increase the amount of memory from 6 to 8.. if I run the full command "java -Xms4G -Xmx8G -jar forge-1.18.2-40.2.21-installer.jar nogui" will that wipe the contents on the server I currently have? Is there a way to change this "-Xmx" parameter after you set it up?
Brother unintentionally finish the instance, and when I want to create another one it tells me that I will be charged 2 euros, do you know what I can do :(
Hi, I set up a server according to the tutorial, but for version 1.21 (I had to install a different Java version (21)) and I have this problem that when the virtual machine shuts down, the Minecraft files end up in lost+found and that’s the end of gaming. Has anyone else had a similar problem?
Sir, i upto the download server file i finish, but i download a modpack server file and unzip all the file but to start the server the file is start.ps1 not jar extention, how can i do this? in my normal pc i just start the server "start.ps1" using powershell, how will i run it on ssh? please if you see this comment Help
the command to run the server specifies how many gb of ram to use. just change the 3 to something higher like 8. Example: java -Xmx8G -jar fabric-server-mc.1.20.2-loader.0.14.23-launcher.0.11.2.jar nogui
hey man really interesting video, I want to make a server but I want version 1.7.10 Forge and i want to add mods, in the tutorial you show how to install fabric 1.20.2 but not forge...
i keep getting an error on the 2nd line, this is soooo frustrating I spent about 2 hours researching it and everytime I get a different error. It all began here, i paste this command "sudo mkfs.ext4 -F -E lazy_itable_init=0,lazy_journal_init=0,discard /dev/disk/by-id/google-minecraft-disk" and i get this error "The file /dev/disk/by-id/google-minecraft-disk does not exist and no size was specified."
Look up "[whatever version you want, or "latest"] server download" on Google, then right click on the download link and copy it. That's what you use when there's a line of code that has a mojang website url in it.

I have decided to do a forge server because yesturday my homies decided they wanted to play Modded minecraft and for the 3 times we played thru lan connect with hamachi application but i want the server to be on 24/7 and be a smoother gameplay for me so i made a forge server in desktop folder on my computer then added all the mods, added veinminer mod changed configs and now i zipped it then i struggled to remove the old world files in cd /home/Minecraft so i went and make a new directory cd /home/Forge and now im uploading my zip file there thx to this website i found out Linux cmds how long does it usually take? 3 hours? 30 minutes? overnight 8hours? i should be having a gaming session any minute and i would like to have the server by them... or else im have to redo the zip world file
friendly reminder your worth isnt views dependent make videos for yourself (enjoy the process) its a trap i myself need to remind myself every so often its hard trying no to work to impress for some reactions it can be addicting
im trying to make a free fast paper server thanks to this tutorial i figured out how to use paper instead of fabic but im REALLY limited to the commands i want to be able to add plugins easier (tho i think ill manage with just direct download link and send command) and ill need to configure the plugins too Im aiming to make a fun void server for free (cuz im broke with a lot of time) i used a freedns.afraid to have a remember able ip to share to players any chance u can help me list any other useful commands i could use to get around? or maybe there is a website i can refer to how and what to type? if you dont have the time thats fine i understand, a simple reply with im busy helps too, i understand im really limited with the options u showed so far i wrote down -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Google Cloud Server Commands List -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- cd /home/Minecraft (to start server go to folder first) sudo su (to start server go to folder first) java -Xmx8G -jar paper-1.20.4-496.jar (starts the server) screen -S mcs java -Xmx8G -jar paper-1.20.4-496.jar nogui (start server in seperate screen) stop (stops server) ctrl a+d (to detach from console ONCE ONLY) screen -r mcs (to go back to console) ls -1 (list your files) nano [file name] (opens file) ctrl x (opens exit screen) sudo su (go back or to main console?) press y = yes or n = no for saving changes then press enter -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- i understand you uploaded this exactly 8 months ago but if you help me out it would be a MAJOR help... thank you for your time
how do you upload direct files when moving world? to upload a zip u can do curl -OJ direct-link using like google drive but how would i unzip all the files what would be the cmd? execute nano? or is there a different proccess for uploading files?
@@EdvinNGU you should first do "ls" to see the files and enter that file name. That's how I made it running 1.21 and it requires java jdk 22, not 17 like in the video so..
@@RodKer42 thx but i already fixed the issue a while ago the java info is updated in the pastebin as stated in the video and it works for me ive already made 3 modded server for my and my friends
I was wondering if there's a way to get a pre existing server onto the google cloud? my friend is running one locally from their computer and we want to keep the some world but move it onto the cloud so we can play whenever for the 3 months we get.
u would need to zip the file and get the direct download link thru like google drive when u copy the downlaod button so upload world to google drive go to where download and right click on download button and copy address then i believe curl -OJ (download link) do this to the main files and unzip it somehow and delete extra files make sure your in cd /home/Minecraft this is all guess i lack knowledge/experience for a better answer
@@EthanLedig no unfortunately u cant get i direct download link using google drive i tried and went down a rabbit hole of info on this on reddit i ended up using the ssh browser upload feature and waiting for like a while where u cant see download progress
Thanks for the video! I have some tips if anyone ever restarted/changed their VM's settings (such as RAM or CPU) and it causes the /home/Minecraft directory to be empty: It is because the VM's is being reset. But, luckily, the disk we use to store our minecraft files aren't actually deleted. You just have to run the command to mount the disk again (4th line on the pastebin link), and your files should be recovered again
The heat is meh. It seemed to fix it fine enough for the fall, but it didn't really stand up to the -30C. Now unfortunately my suspension is toast, so I'm moving on from the s4. Good luck though. It's an easy enough procedure so it really couldn't hurt if you have heat issues. Otherwise, gloves and earmuffs.
everything perfect but its premium server :<<< i've had premium account on Microsoft, the same with my 2 friends but we havent seen message that we have to change our minecraft accounts to microsoft account so we lost it nooooo help
If you want to DELETE you PROJECT, you have to also release(delete) the static ip address and delete the persistent disk. If you don't do this, it will keep CHARGING YOU even if you have deleted the whole vm/compute instance. To delete static ip: Go to your minecraft project, Navigation menu(top left button next to google cloud logo) then VCP network, then IP addresses. Then you have to select the static ip address and click on release button To delete the disk: Go to Navigation menu, Compute engine, under STORAGE, click on Disks Then select your disk and click on delete. Hope this helps
Hey, hope you see this. Had some server issue and couldnt connect with ssh so I made the dumb decision of stopping the virtual machine. I successfully connected but now EVERYTHING IS GONE. Its just an empty Minecraft directory. What do I do? Can I retrieve my lost data? Would be much appreciated if you answered! TLDR; I stopped the vm instance. Everything gone.
This link might help. You may also need to redo the step where you mount the disk to your machine. I think the files still exist on the ssd that you create and format, but it may have disconnected from the VM. cloud.google.com/compute/docs/disks/local-ssd#data_persistence
@@EthanLedig Thanks! Got it working again. I have one final question; I often see "Can't keep up! Is the server overloaded? Running ....ms or .. ticks behind" in my screen. Could this be because of my mods? I have suspicions that the Valkyrien Skies + Eureka! Ships! mod could be causing this? Checking my Spark profiler it says that ServerWorld.tickEntity is at 41.66%, ServerChunkManager.tickChunks is at 24.05% and ThreadedAnvilChunkStorage.tick() is at 5.77%! After some time the server just "kills" itself (by not running the server in a screen i can see the output "Killed") What could be the cause of my server constantly having tick problems and the server killing itself? Do you recommend any optimization mods? I run the server with "screen -S mcs java -Xms1G -Xmx9G -jar fabric-server-mc.1.20.1-loader.0.15.9-launcher.1.0.0.jar nogui" TLDR: Sever tick/tps goes downhill after some time and kills itself, Why?
