Shaykh Dr al-Haddad has studied under the tutelage of various senior scholars such as the late Grand Mufti of Saudi Arabia Shaikh Abd al-Aziz ibn Abd Allah ibn Baaz, Shaikh Abdullah Ibn Jibreen, the former chief judge of Riyadh and the retired Head of the Kingdom’s Higher Judiciary Council Shaikh Abdullah ibn Aqil, Shaikh Muhammad ibn al Uthaymeen (for a short period) as well as various other senior scholars.

Okay Shaykh when Hamza asked you regarding the word allaqah that the Prophet صَلَّى اللّٰهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ didn’t need to explain it because the sahabah رضي الله عنهم knew its meaning according to what it meant in the classical Arabic language. So what about when that sahabah read the word dhulum in surah luqman and were worried as they said we’ve all done injustice upon ourselves but the Prophet صَلَّى اللّٰهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ explained that here dhulum meant shirk. So my question is how then do we know for certain either one or few of sahabah رضي الله عنهم didn’t misinterpret (معاز اللہ) anything else and were unable to get clarification from the Prophet صَلَّى اللّٰهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ please explain. جزاك اللهُ خير
I believe that the example this sheikh is giving, is how something which has a known and obvious meaning gets twisted into things which are irrelevant. In the worst case, take a meaning which is never there. So a text which (using his example) says 'please open the door' is an instruction. The purpose (meaning) of that instruction is to create an opening. Why that opening needs to be made, is based on the context behind that statement. But , the way muslims and scholars behave today and interpret text you will get muslims arguing about 1. Who gave the instruction 2. What kind of door is it 3. Depends on the door size 4. What time was this instruction given 5. Door can only be opened if permissible (to allow guests, or fresh air). 6. What if there is no door 7. Statement is no longer applicable as there is always an opening or self opening door. Etc This is the problem facing the ummah. Create issues and meanings when the statement is clear cut. Just as we do with Quranic verses. 'Please open the door' is an obvious statement. Just understand why that statement was made. Understand why Quranic verses were revealed and how the Prophet and Sahabah understood these. Inshallah, looking forward to doing group umrah with this sheikh in Sept 2024.
