Music matters . . . . at least great music does. REFINERSFIRE is committed to the idea that great music is one of the highest achievements of civilization and that its continued cultivation is essential to civilization’s health. By performing, recording, and distributing both great new music and educational materials about great music, we at REFINERSFIRE - if but momentarily and fragilely - seek to “push back the darkness” that can overtake a people if they succumb to the ultimately self-destructive culture that is the product of rapacious consumerism. The “refiner’s fire” both purifies and enlightens.
Exquisite singing & piano accompaniment. And also... what a perfect pitch Crossley-Mercer must have 💎❕ His handling of the text is so amazingly poetic (I even found it & paste below) As oftentimes the too resplendent sun Hurries the pallid and reluctant moon Back to her sombre cave, ere she hath won A single ballad from the nightingale, So doth thy Beauty make my lips to fail, And all my sweetest singing out of tune. And as at dawn across the level mead On wings impetuous some wind will come, And with its too harsh kisses break the reed Which was its only instrument of song, So my too stormy passions work me wrong, And for excess of Love my Love is dumb. But surely unto Thee mine eyes did show Why I am silent, and my lute unstrung; Else it were better we should part, and go, Thou to some lips of sweeter melody, And I to nurse the barren memory Of unkissed kisses, and songs never sung.
We have to thank the composer Mr. Michael Linton from Nashville, Mr Jason Peterson, the exceptionally gifted concert pianist and Edwin the recitalist and constant searcher of colors to express the emotions in the lyrics and music with his singular talent.
Gentlemen! We wish you, the musicians and the composer a resounding success. The Bernkastel recital in Mosel was met with great enthusiasm, so now we await the reaction at the Petit Palais on the 31st of August.
Christmas, Children's Addresses and Sunday School in a small village quite a few years ago. A very fine arrangement, a piano accompaniment and singing by virtuoso musicians. This will be a very, very long-lasting memory; and can he whistle!
