What's with the melody here? They're messing with it--leaving out notes and playing way staccato for the style. Yeah, Les is on electric piano, but not happening.
Oh. My. FREAKIN'!!! Guutness... Lawrence Welk could've played this song on his accordion, & I'd still be nuts about it!!! Not to dis Mr. Welk, but... Just 🎶WOOOOOooooowww.🤩
That amazing tenor sax solo was played by German Sax player Libor Sima. Man, I could listen to that every day mainly because I know I've never ever gotten close to that level of brilliance. This tune is so fucking HIP it's totally amazing.
He was born September 23, 1935. He turned down an offer to play with Cannonball so he could form hos own trio. First paid job 1959. Never played with Parker. Born on same day as Coltrane.
LMAO...this would never pass the old DownBeat "Blindfold Test"......you know who's playing right away, I was away and said to myself wtf! but I hey its diverse.
@Greg Normal Sure , I'm from the southern part of New Jersey ( Vineland )the garden state of vegetable farming . Get a chance try compared to what with Ed Harris ,....another excellent number. Back at you bro !
That sax solo was fire. The trumpet solo was okay. And the trombone solo was great, except it didn't really fit the kind of music this is. He plays a mixture of Jazz and Funk... It's called junk
ha! cheers for all the info buddy! same, if i come across the full video ever i will give u a shout :) and il send u some more stuff i find find anything astonishing i think ul like. cheers dave
@daverblack In the spirint of giving something back, here is some good music on the net I discovered recently. Cream, Royal Albert Hall - 2005. 22 tunes. Looks like links aren't allowed here. search box will bring it right up tho. And check out some Joe Robinson. search on his name and lethal injection L8r
@daverblack I'd Love to buy a CD but it's just not available in any incarnation. All the tunes are as fantastic as this one. From watching them, I remember that by tune # 3 or so the audience started applauding wildly as soon as the sax player put the instrument to his lips. The Bass player does a solo in Sunny that is Very special. Well, If I come across it, I'll post it and drop another comment. Thanks for the reply :)... Come ON Les! Sell me the DVD or post this concert !
@daverblack Regards your comment - Sounds like my Own experience trying to find these tunes again ! :) I was able to find the track list as follows: Track List: 1. Cold Duck Time 2. What’s going on 3. Little Blue Volkswagen Car 4. A Little 3/4 for God & Co 5. Sunny 6. Ignominy 7. Someday we’ll Meet Again (con't)
hey!! sadly i dont have the rest. i saw this versio of cold duck time years ago on youtube and was disappointed when it got taken down. so i spent a long time trying to find this clip on another website, finally found it, then had to download it to my own PC to then re-upload it to youtube for everyones enjoyment :) hehe. im not a massive jazz fan, but i absolutely love this song, its brilliant! thanks for getting in touch!
This concert was Fantastic ! Do you have any of the other sets ? They used to all be on here, 6 or 7 of them but were taken off. I'd love to see the other again. I'd buy the DVD, but there is none available that I can find.
