I bought a pair of these golf shoes ... along with the extra 8 yards they promised to give me, they included a deed to the Brooklyn Bridge. Not a bad deal.
If you taught someone to just swing like you did at the beginning and just turned, swing, with no rotation through, they would be the best ballstriker ever. Humans can create more speed with their shoulders and a bent left arm ( another lever) than they realize. Turning causes inconsistency. ( pros hit 60%of fairways) golf creates back injuries. ASK TIGER. We are meant to swing like the smartest man on earth teaches. I WILL SHARE HIS NAME AFTER I WIN A FEW EVENTS. HIS IQ IS LEGITIMATELY IN THE TOP .01% of the population.
Hi John, I played in the Gap matches with one of your AB students. Very big guy with a very wide stance, it was an absolute circus out there. He his it soo far. Very straight, and he gave you all the credit for Goldilocks work with him!
@@JohnDunigan I’m in Italy living now but will get back to the States again. Would love to work with you one day. I first caught on to your instruction way back when you did your in defense of stack and tilt years ago. Being a big O’Grady fan on all things swing technique I loved how you explained their system.
Hi Pro, Fantastic info! Is there a chance that you can talk a bit about the ball position, swing ark/circle and pushing the divot on the other side of the ball?
I looked for an explanation of this. I just played 3 of the worst rounds and range sessions ever, after I bought “FootJoy Premier” Golf shoes. They have the heel lift. I wondered if it would be an issue. Well……. Totally ruined my swing for a bit !! I have No Clue how the pros are using those shoes. I’m throwing them in the garbage! !!!!!
The truth comes out. I’ve played the last couple days after watching your video about club head awareness and I already am more confident. Then I watched this video and my eyes opened even wider. I saw a short video by Bryson the other day and he said exactly the same thing. Pull your right arm down before you turn. The one area I need to work on is right arm “awareness” as I’m a lefty who plays right handed.
As usual a great video, liked how you used the club shaft on the clock to dial in the distance. I always used my left arm as a guide and it has never been accurate. Thx Steve F.
I am finally starting to release the club by letting go, now I need to start paying attention on direction and you’ve given me a great mental picture of swinging the grip down and up; I’ll report back…
Great drill and great principal. Question though.. why did Ben Hogan want 3 right arms if the right arm is not dominant, even a part of the swing? I guess there are all kinds of ways to play this game because many great ball strikers emphasize crushing it with the right arm once club is back down to near parallel. Mike Austin hit his drive over 500 yds (favorable conditions of course) and he emphasized striking with the right side.
This might seem like a weird question but how do you determine the radius of the curve on your device attached to the club? Is it measured from the shoulders or from the armpits to the club face? Is it measured at the height of the club with full extension of the arms or at address? Or is it simply the length of your arms? Just curious if I was to make one myself.
JD, at about the 14 minute mark, I noticed that your right shoulder doesn’t dip during the swing. If you look at the bottom of the picture frame behind you, that shoulder stays very level and it’s the left side of your body that generates momentum by coming up and behind. I like it, thanks!
I definitely do not have a lot of right side bend. But there is enough. If the right shoulder is too high, you may have to flip the club just to reach the ball.
There are so few videos demonstrating the left arm swing which is a pity because I have found that it helps me to swing through instead of hitting at. I also find that it encourages me to lead into the swing with my body and prevents me hitting from the top. It's never too late to learn - I am 80 yrs old!
Have you ever had a scenario where this drill helps with irons? I recorded this drill with an iron because it was the only club near me to see what it looks like. I havent been able to cure my steep and over swing in 15 years of trying. Through impact i have some, lets just call them fascinating ways to shallow the club late to save it. With this drill, that dang club actually got under the plane. Obviously its an extreme example and id need to dial it back, but has me thinking i should at least consider the need to "feel" hitting slightly more up on irons. Willing to bet its still a downward AoA, just more shallow. Not getting my hopes up yet as I've found the solution about 1000 different times, but this seems promising!

I am left hand dominate and play golf right handed. This video confirms what has taken me years to figure out on my own. I wasted a lot of years trying to apply instructions from right handed instructors that don't work for me. When I trust my left side I play better golf. Us lefties thank you.
I'm also left handed and swing right. My problem is coming over the top and casting because my trail arm takes over. I think it's a mental thing so I don't overtake my swing with my left side but I'm figuring out that's exactly what I need to do lol

@@canceracarIt’s basically a strong backhanded shot with the trail hand lightly riding along. I don’t think golf instructors realize how many of us there are. Maybe they just don’t know what advice to give us.
John, nice. Been using the clock-face to dial-in wedge distances for some time. What are your thoughts on letting the club face fall into the ball from various “times”? Better for chipping only or can that work for distance wedges as well?
The D Plane, D is for descriptive, is a simple description of the plane formed by the club path and the face. It was a very important understanding for sure. The ball climbs up the D plane then will curve right of left depending upon the face relative to the path.
I started golf 7-8 months ago. Yes I have learned the basics but the biggest thing that really has helped is weight of golf club. I think hips arms etc came about because I could feel the weight of club head. It’s the best feeling when it hit me. Made so much sense.
Excellent lesson, John! Every time my golf swing starts going south, I come back and watch this video. I am constantly bringing tension into the arms or wrists and losing the feel of the weight of the club head. This video always gets me back on track! Thanks so much!!
Really love your videos, they're very helpful! Have a question here: the transition (or downshift) is starting with the right foot pushing or the left foot stepping? or combine them together? Thanks!
John, This is one of the finest videos I’ve seen on swinging the golf club! Thanks for all the work you do in helping the every man play better golf. Very few of us, if any of us will play college golf or professional golf. Most of us would be content to play in the 80’s. Thanks so much!
