Alex Lee. You're not talking about how far behind state legislators have PERMITTED HOUSING starts to languish for decades in the state of California. You don't educate the viewers to "why" the state is short of housing to begin with. You omit the tenants of the higher education than instead, use the capitalists' real estate hate mongering mantra to do you biding and distracting. If tenants could truly understand the way the housing economy has evolved over the decades; from government mismanagement and dereliction of duty in combination with poorly written laws and loopholes, then most would be angry with the government you represent, as well as YOU, for you have the political power to perpetuate the PARTIAL truth, but not the WHOLE truth.
I've rented for 19 years. I see both sides to scrutiny of landlord and tenant. NO ONE on either side is an angel. As much as an assembly bill may be needed to curb speculators, we need an assembly bill to begin investigating rent controlled tenant housing abusers and "means testing" them annually to make sure they are income qualified. I have acquaintances who brag about abusing a rent controlled building they occupy. They've lived there for eighteen years, where once they were a deserved lower income family, they are now making a combined income of $300,000 annually. They take up housing needed for low income folks.
How have the middle class been considered in this legislative initiative? What'a the incentive for a renter to pay rent? This is encouraging dishonesty and theft
A contract, maturity, hard work (like all of us put in) and common decency. Spoken from a truly lower class poor kid who grew up to make my way. There is no free lunch, only hand outs. Socialism is on the other continent. Not here.
