Saint Cecilia Parish is a welcoming, diverse community of Roman Catholics in the heart of Boston's Back Bay. Visit our channel regularly for 9:30 Sunday Mass, our organ recital series, and more.
I was told about father John at my prayer group here in Maine. So now, every week I listen to his homily, and his words means so very much. Thank you to Saint Cecilia’s for having Mass on RU-vid , I watch it every week.
Great to hear/see Fr Coyne today. Such appreciation for our men in blue. Amazing to see all the animals gathered so peacefully. Once again, Fr Coyne delivered an inspiring homily. We should be all asking what can I do and more importantly , What have I done ?
The great Fulton J. Sheen, would have disagreed. Where is the reflection on marriage? The Church has lost its vision because it’s caved into the ways of secular society in order to be more relevant.
Our congregation’s role is to be open to the words of our ministers. Too many not listening because they arrogantly believe only they have the answers.
“We must not be surprised when we hear of murders, of killings, of wars, of hatred. If a mother can kill her own child, what is left but for us to kill each other.” Saint Mother Teresa
Wonderful, powerful, beautiful sermon with tremendous wisdom and Christ centered inspiration, so grateful for you and your words today Father Coyne and for St.Cecelia’s Church
It's worth listening for the churchmusic alone. But it is joy to watch all and listen to valuable words of the priest. In my protestant service this morning we also celebrated the Lord's Supper. We can feel united. Blessing from the Netherlands.
As a protestant in the Netherlands I like to watch your Sunday services. I am very impressed by your churchmusic. The choir sings beautiful. Praise the Lord my soul to you all.❤
Father Jay, Thank you for filling in this Sunday. The homily 'hit the spot' for me. Like so many of us, I deal with/ hypocrisy on a daily basis in my work as a healthcare services manager. Double standards, obvious bootlicking, & the usual backstabbing are standard fare. At times, n''' I am at odds with my let-it-ride stance (about 90% of the time) & today's clear calling a spade a spade. I feel uneasy & see myself as a hypocrite for not drawing attention to contradictions. I am a work in progress & always will be. But homilies like yours help me to keep on keeping on. Thank you!
The livestream was cut short at the end of the Mass, but it was a great Mass. I went to St. Cecilia Parish back in the 1950"s and 1960"s and did my Holy Communion. My sister Sheila Larkin goes to this Parish every Sunday, but unable to attend because she had a minor stroke and is still in the hospital.
Sorry we did not get to hear the choir finish the Meditation Hymn or see the end of the Mass. Also, I like how the accompanist broke in o Day by Day from the Musical Godspell during Communion. Took me back to Mass int he Parish Hall in the 1970s.
