I once did 8 return trips to the IOW in 1 day. That's more than the crew. The Red Funnel Company agreed to help the Coast Guard Agency, also in Southampton, in testing a new VHF Radio system, no cost to them and if the tests were sucessful the equipment would be gifted to them by the manufacturer. Probably cheaper than removing it anyway. The trials went well, all tests passed and Red Funnel Company ended up with a back up radio system for free. Every one a winner. I was the engineer that did the installation and conducted the trials.
Lovely video great quality footage. Hope you had a great holiday. Brings back smiles and sadness IoW was the last holiday I had with my dad in 2020 before passed away. We are going back this year hence watching the videos getting excited. Hope to do things we planned last time including the hovercraft
Travelled on all the ferry routes and hovercraft from the mainland to the island. My favourite is the one from Lymington Pier to Yarmouth, lots to see and it don’t take too long. The west side of the island is my always go too, so unspoilt.
Went with Red Funnel a couple of weeks ago. All on time price was ok for the Solent . However the ships are very tired both inside and out which is a shame. They need to undertake a large refurbishment programme otherwise they will lose out to Wightlink.
Just watched this video. Very well shot and interesting as considering break over on that lovely Island later in the year. Soton ideal departure point so thank you putting out this video.
