I'm just a Hack having fun, and this channel is focused on my modeling distractions. Unboxings, build vlogs, simple tutorials, and various other things that I feel like sharing through video. Feel free to watch..or not. : )

Brilliant!! I thought I'd start mine (1 of 2 - both good price) before I start an assembly line for the squadron of Eagles I have accumulated. Just opened one of them and was disappointed to see it won't display 'nicely' with the Eagles as it is on the stand. Searching builds to see if any hiccups etc (RU-vid is great for that and thanks to all who take/have the time to post videos) and found your video about Landing Gear!!!! Just what I need - an Idea and inspiration on how it could be done. Love the perfect placement for a 'tricycle' configuration. I guess I'm off designing and then see how I go with a 3d print effort. (no spare parts or the like) Great job and MANY thanks for taking the time to video, edit and post the build.
Thank you for the feedback, I appreciate it! that was exactly the same reason I went down that road, I wanted to display next to my Eagles and I don't have the "airspace" in my house. All I have is shelf-space. Good luck on yours!!!
'A hack having fun'. The way it should be! There's plenty of insanely detailed and skilful builds of this kit on modelling forums being documented, then just stop mid build. I think too many modellers fall into the trap of chasing perfection at the cost of enjoyment.
Hey Mal, as you were thinking about adding smoke. Found this: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-8oNMnFIC4Ys.htmlsi=BhOxuUeCQOCS3RvM I like it :) but with smoke you have to keep in mind that the smoke will drop down somewhere. So by doing this too often the smoke can / will create a layer of the Smoking liquid on the model
Thank you! I did a "Ghost Rider" cosplay where the skull threw smoke, and the way I lit it, it looked like flames. This is kinda what I was thinking of doing here as well. You're right.. definitely need to be aware of the residue and how that will build up. It's entirely probable that, while it'd be cool to have, it'd only ever be turned on for like 3 minutes over the rest of the life of the model, so... is it really worth it? : ) Thanks!
It would be REALLY amazing! But I am with you, would it be worth the effort.... i honestly do not know...as it is not only the Smoking machine itself, but also the preparation of the kit.... and as you mention, how often will it be used.... :-/
Nice kit, and if I remember correctly Space is one of your favourites :) looking forward to this project of yours with hopefully plenty of videos :) :)
Very cool find! Yet another epic project for us to delight in as you build it up. I've never seen this before, but I haven't watched Space: 1999 in its entirety yet. Doing an image search brings up some good pics of the filming model with its big spindly legs, I'm gonna say this is the granddaddy to Red Dwarf's Star Bug shuttle! Happy modeling!
The swift and the superswift just had that 'coolness' factor for me when I was a kid. I loved it. It's going to be fun to do, just the dry fits are showing good engineering and fit. I just need to get time on the bench! :) thanks and take care!
@randallcooper3559 as the comments in your videos are deactivated, I have to take this chance here: WOW your kits are amazing! This is such a great work of yours!😊😊😊
The details are just, like you said: wow! Thanks for adding the link to him. His other kits look also amazing. Really looking forward to you working on it :)
I'm waiting for mine in the mail. I got the pe set from microscale, made in Russia, it's coming from Kazakhstan, won't be here for awhile. Thank you for this video
Just caught up with this; always great to see a Monogram 'Classic'(?) getting a shake! Regarding the grey colour, it may not be 36440 but it makes the VF-84 markings pop like they never did before! Great job. 👍
That is another point i love with your channel: you are not only focusing on one specific "topic" like others do. And it seems you are having your joy in doing so ;)
Man you did a fantastic job here.. Looks beautiful. I'd love to have some completed models like this, but I don't have the patience to complete them. I have a Meng T-90 tank model that I started but did not finish. The tracks give me so much trouble.. anyway, I really enjoyed this series, thanks!
Thank you so much for the feedback, glad you enjoyed the series. I will admit this one was a bit of an exercise in getting over frustration to be sure. :) LOL
I say jump in. The good thing about models is they realistically don't go bad, meaning they are plastic and not like it will rot away like a hamburger. If you can't find the time to finish it when you're half way through just put everything either back in the box or in a plastic bin and store it until you can finish. I've done that several times. Happened to me with my Warhammer 40k Vindicator Laser destroyer model. Lost steam about 30% through it and stored it for about five months and then came back and knocked it out and it's on my shelf.
Sure thing. I tend to pretty much use it only for clear masking. For the most part, I apply it with the tip of a cocktail stick, and use the point to trace around the canopy edges, then get big drops to fill in the big open spots. Sometimes, if it's possible, I'll mask with tape first and just use the micro-mask for the edge. I could also do a vid of just how I make it work. I'll see if I can make one in the near future. Thanks!
Just found your channel. I'm back tomodelling after a 35 year break. Have you done any Eduard models? Great detail for reasonable prices. All the best.
Great video on a subject near and dear to me! Speaking of large Battlemech kits, did you see Max Factory has a 1/35 Dougram (Shadow Hawk) scheduled to release in May?
Mech!!! :)😊 Customization!!!😊😊 Nice unboxing Video. Now I cannot wait to get mine ;) postponed my shipment in order to combine it with the SRM carrier ;)
I love all the modern Japanese kits and I have plenty of them. But it's hard to beat those old Monogram kits. The finished model looks great, even if you do have the wrong grey. With those enamel washes you need a gloss finish to get them off easily.
Nice to meet you. I am Japanese. I completed the COAST GUARD version of the same model the day before yesterday (February 26th). All of Italeri's kits are a lot of fun to build. In Japan, there are fewer and fewer toy stores and model stores in towns. I think this is due to the fact that children today no longer make models and the declining birthrate. Since I have reached the retirement age (65 years old), I am living on a pension and can no longer spend money on hobbies like I used to. I hope that this channel will continue to convey the joy of modeling to many people. Please give my regards to the dog as well. Thank you very much.
Haha.. thank you my friend. I can see that I'll probably have a "hangar display" to make for this and the companion Eagle at some point, but for now, it was a fun ride. :) Take care!
Nice, still have to finish mine. I got the interior cockpit from shapeways. Plan on one led for main engine, one for the cockpit and one for the lazer.. How long did it take to do ALL the decals?!?!?!?
It took about 3 hours overall - I did spread it out over 2 night's work. In the end, I had to fiddle with them for a while though. These were just terrible to work with. I've done one of the big Eagles, the small Hawk and small Eagle - those transfers were nice. These, bleah, even with MarkFit strong. That's what took most of the time.
Nice to some one like me who hates tracks, your method is great, so will buy some of those MiniArt. Mine are one part pad with pins that don't fit the linking part, !
I'll admit.. I scarfed the idea from another armor modeler - I cannae remember who it was. Good luck!! hope it works out well for you!! and thanks for the feedback.
