I've struggled with Tana in the past. It's not an intuitive app. According to Cognitive load theory, we always aim to increase the germane load and decrease the intrinsic and extraneous load. So I'm giving it another go. I'm not married to any particular tool at the moment but I'm giving Tana another try.

How is this possible then? In ICOR® there are always multiple SSOTs depending on context. So even a single task can be considered a SSOT holding all relevant information related to this task.
Hello there, I also really enjoy the new vibe and the new look of the channel. It looks less "geeky" and more professional than it used to do. English Little by little, I'm beginning to understand how I should manage my thoughts, but I'm still having trouble with two specific things. First question I have in mind and I cannot figure out is where to put those pages I want to collect about, for instance, a specific item I would like to buy. And different URLs of different versions of distinct products I want to be able to compare later on. Let's say I want to buy a 1TB hard drive and I go from page to page and find 4 different hard drives from 4 different brands. I want to store these pages to be able to compare them later. The web clippers can do the job but that really never looks like what I would need in Evernote, for instance. And it's even worse if I use the new Heptabase web clipper which doesn't include pictures (If I decide to use Notion to store the info, I know it will simply disappear somewhere where I can never find it again in my entire life... 😅) Trello can be quite useful if I have a card named "hard drive" and I throw directly all the related pages to that one card. But as I don't use Trello much anymore, that means having another tool just for that purpose which is not really convenient. So for that part of the capturing beast, I'm not really sure how to do. The second thing I find quite difficult is the labelling part of my note-taking work. I never know what should be a tag, a folder, a topic. How should I tag the content? I don't know if I should use the tags meeting or conference, because that's what I am attending to, or sociology or disability, because those are the contents of these meetings. I just discovered SuperNotes today And I've got to say I quite like The idea behind the app and its ergonomics Have you ever had a try?

I d like to see expansion on the concept of shallow deep PROCESSING Why processing? Because we process the information as well as we process the tasks. The best way to learn anything is to DO SOMETHING WITH IT. Therefore the best way to do something with the small investments is a SHALLOW PROJECT/ TASK. What can i use for shallow project / task? How should i lay it out and execute. Which tools stack i can use?
You are absolutely right, information needs to be processed, otherwise it's useless to save it in the first place. Stay tuned, as in one of our upcoming video we'll dive into the Execution Beast, a concept of ICOR tackling Shallow vs Deep Work. ICOR is all about moving information to action.
I like the new background it creates effect of space and fresh air. Keep it. New style of videos also rocks. Please add more diagrams and charts and more concepts with arguments. I cant tell for everyone but clicking sound effects are irritating to me. You need to create a video where you compare icor to a different pkm workflows and styles. For example access or para or get things done etc. If you will compare contrast contextualise and provide arguments for your pov this video will blow up. With all these systems, I worry about the app vanishing or ceasing to be updated, like has happened to me in the past, thus destroying years of careful curation. This has made me give up on using such tools. What’s the solution?
That's the beauty of having solid, tool-agnostic productivity workflows. When you need or want to switch to a new app, it's seamless because your workflows remain consistent. We have transitioned to different tools many times over the years without disrupting our daily business. Of course, there's more to it than just flipping a switch from one app to another. For a set up like this, what is the advantages of using DropBox over something like Google Drive? Is DropBox have a better search feature? Thank you for the Video! You are so SPOT ON on the comment about Remarkable. I love the feel and the form factor but at the end of the day the notes are not connected. I keep also trying the IPAD (most connected for me) but really struggle on the size. I waffle back and forth between the 11 and 12.9. Was thinking of trying the 13”, very light but still large. Maybe back to the 11. If I could take notes edge to edge it would be perfect I think. I tried to. I for form factor but too small for me.Thank you!
Great video. All this talk about Tana on RU-vid, but nobody can get their hands on it. LOL It better be something great as it feels like they they are missing out on this explosion of notetaking apps. Seems the only people getting their hands on it are the youtubers who can promote it before it even releases. Been on the waitlist for some time, and while they hold on their release I am moving to other things. Just one person, but I am sure I am not alone.
It is actually pretty easy to get your hands on Tana. Just join their Slack channel and ask for an invite. Something we’ve recommended within our membership to our members who were looking for access and it worked each time instantly. This being said, they are entering the public beta phase now and start charging for it.

One brain with two parts still don’t resonates with me. For me it’s the same concept of Second Brain. Because Second Brain follow the steps of CODE. Capture is just the first step. Organize and Distill is the same thing of shallow and deep thinking. And Express is the really purpose of a Second Brain, not the capture thing. I’ve already interview Tiago Forte, and he doesn’t state Second Brain like a storage thing. So I would rethink about this concept of the brain with 2 parts. SSOT is brilliant, this concept changed my life, thank you!
Thanks for the great feedback! 💚 We refer to a Second Brain when talking about external storage. Although known from Tiago Forte the origin of this term goes way back. However, you are right with CODE, Tiago is covering more than just capturing information. But this was not the topic when Tom talked about the Second Brain in this video. To further explain this: ICOR® goes way beyond CODE, as the methodology is forcing information always towards action (especially in a business work and team context and not just knowledge work this is crucial). Hence, we believe in the metaphor of one brain to force us to think about our overall workflows in a productivity system end-to-end, running as frictionless as our own thought processes. From information to action. If the digital part is running like our analog part, things run on autopilot (even without technological automations in place). Furthermore, Second Brain implies to have one external storage to retrieve information (like Evernote helped to remember everything). But this is not the ultimate goal with ICOR® as we believe in a multi tool setup with various SSOTs depending on information and action types. If setup correctly, information can be stored and retrieved at the speed of thought, making taking action frictionless and achieving goals consistently. Does this help clarifying it a bit more?
@@paperlessmovement Thanks for explanation. I’m Action oriented too, I call this concept of Hybrid Mind (Digital + Biological). Our mind feeds the digital and the digital expand the biological with more angles to think and act. I use Capacities for Deep Thinking because he has task actions inside the note, so when I create a checkbox in my note… Boom… I can send my notes for what SSOT I want like Notion for mentorship information, Todoist for individual and team tasks. It’s faster and already send the link to come back to my note automatically. So I don’t need to think about brain, I just to select: Action or Reference. Boom! The Action Goes where it needs to be and vice versa. The another step that I don’t need to think about it’s shallow and deep, whatever! Capacities is the 2 things in one, because I capture everything via WhatsApp or e-mail without lose my context like Heptabase or Tana. The information is an object, that means in Capacities I have multiple SSOTs in One Place and I can Connect then when I want or need. One page with deep thinking can became lots of shallow insights and vice versa… Boom again! And the Capacities app has the perfect capture feature: I capture directly the object! Even in whatsapp I can put tags and transform in object directly in the prompt. So I don’t need a brain with 2 parts to enter in action, is already intuitive for me.

Day by day, we input numerous notes and spend more time organizing them, only to find them scattered, requiring time to locate or resort (hence the ubiquitous SEARCH function in many note-taking tools). Fortunately, your methodology points out how notes can be processed more effectively in terms of Projects, Key Elements, and Topics.
