Loved the comments and reflections from Helen on the ageism in the industry. It is probably an attempt to tease the younger group into industry, fair enough, but the as mentioned many people get their chance only later during working life. We all know it has cost implication to get work experiences, internships, setting up the business, and clients. It is not easy for most people, I guess. The popularity is helpful, but often serves only PR of the well known shows and programmes, not the real industry. Not everyone can do the big budget gardens, and hire well known show appearing designer. That does not mean that people in background can not do good quality work. I like the suggestions to bring forward schemes for all ages of designers or builders of gardens. Life is limited and we all are worth a shot. Many thanks for these interviews.

Great interview. A wonderful insight from Paul into designing and judging show gardens and also from Lewis about supplying plants for them. I really enjoyed it and learned a lot.
Excellent discussion. I think a lot of other industries may find this equally useful. It gives a good insight as to what stresses out workers confined at home and the anxiety that some workers may feel at going back to the office. Also some great advice from Angelina Sooren of Ground Control Ltd as to the potential health and safety issues as people return to normal activities

Great Video Post, thank you so much for taking the time to bring the Pro's together for this ongoing and growing debate. Really interesting insights into proven Laying techniques, removal and re-usage in an Eco Impact sense. When will Lightweight Steel Framing (LSF) exterior floor systems, manufactured and ready to accommodate outdoor porcelain tiles, push their way into the big debate?
Another great discussion. The issues about porcelain paving being seen as being "stain proof" (which it isn't) reminds me of the "waterproof watch" which is really water-resistant at a specific static depth or the "shatter-proof" plastic rulers which had to be re-branded as "shatter-resistant". As Jake Catling points out porcelain paving still needs cleaning and maintenance especially since it will show up tannin stains from fallen leaves.
I knew this would be a very entertaining and informative episode and I certainly wasn't disappointed. Very interesting to hear how David starting up his businesses.
I did enjoy the TV program btw. It's a shame that they mixed it up with very low budget project as well but seeing realistic costings has to be a help. Always an admirer of Helens work.
Excellent interview. Very well put points about the bias towards the 'young' in the industry which certainly does not make sense in the context of how many career changers enter the industry. I have to say that the 'people who lunch' do exist in the industry and some of them are men, some are women. A specific example, I won't name, was designer I spoke to at show, who was not interested in doing real gardens - they just wanted to do show gardens. I have also spoken to others who clearly where not in garden design to make a living, just as swanky hobby. That's really good for the industry of course.
Mark is a real professional , who sets the scene as well as the lead in the Horticultural Landscape Industry . His company not only leads in Landscaping but is Mr RHS with the plant world. A really nice person to know. Thank you for this video for these dark times, we all need someone to follow and lead out of COVID19.
