The height difference is due to the heat sink on the diamond. Larry Frederick was the guy who designed these. He was the owner of Cicada. He was the MAN! He designed some of the best amplifiers EVER made at Phoenix Gold when they were USA made and had gold plated circuit boards. RIP Larry. Car audio won’t be the same without you!
What Techno Research Flash do you recommend (2020 Road Glide, factory radio, Hertz amp/speakers)? It seems two articles you show mention the Rockford Fosgate flash. Is that a good generic flash for most any amp/speaker combo?
The one thing that I learned from this video is that it sure sounds like you are harboring some kind of hateful grudge against CICADA. What up with that. However I agree that the DSP is not necessary 👍🏻
The mp series is 150rms per driver not per set. And the mp 692/652 is 250rms just like the cicada. That would be a better comparison as they are like drivers.
Those RMS numbers mean very little, distortion blows speakers, not clean voltage. I had the MP69.4's and MP65.4's on a 2ohm 2400.4 on the mids and 400.2 on the horns for almost a yr and a half and never had a problem before buying the NEO's. The NEO's I have on the same amp but now the amp is bridged so I'm at 600watts each speaker vs 250each or whatever it was previously. Both the MP 2ohm and 4ohm version have the same 1.5" voice coil.
I nvr thought id see the day come where you compare Diamond Audio and Cicada side by side fairly. I had a pair of DA MP654 in my RG fairing and MP69.4's in the lids powered by a SD 1200.4 (4ohm) and it sounded good and was happy with it. My buddy then bought a SG Ultra and wanted to do something on his bike but he decided to go with Cicada. Since i did car audio 25yrs ago and did my bike he asked me to help him with his. After putting the Cicada 65.2 in the fairing and CM 69.2 in the lids. I was impressed. We did a SD 1200.4 (4 ohm) on the speakers so each speaker was getting 300 watts and a SD 400.4 on the horns. I saw a video someone else did with 600 watts to each speaker and wanted to try that but my buddy wasn't trying to be that loud so i might try that on my bike this winter. Are you going to now start carrying Cicada?
As much as it may seem that I am not honest - that would be the farthest from the truth - I always provide my opinion honestly even if it works against me as in this case - We will not be carrying Cicada
I currently have rockford Fosgate 6x9. In my bags. I used there template to cut my lids. My question is will the cicadas line up with the fosgate insert
I have installed custom audio systems in cars and I was asked to install 3 Amps and a DSP on a Harley, I am glad I ran into this video. It’s not as crucial on cars I am thinking it has to do something with an Alternator vs a bikes charging system which uses a stator instead.

Great video! I’ve got a precision power system with 8 speakers and their amp using the GTS head unit. Loud and clear but lacks midrange bass. Would adding the Soundstream radio with the 13band equalizer improve the sound?
What’s the difference between cerwin vega and Diamond (same company different branded amp). The price difference is nearly 400 dollars for the micro vs b54?

I’m getting ready to upgrade the audio on my 2007 street glide and I’ve finally settled on a sound digital 1200.4 evox2 amplifier, cicada CH6.5” 4ohm faring speakers and cicada CH6x9” 4ohm lid speakers. I already have the new soundstream reserve HDHU-9813SG radio and it’s absolutely amazing!! I’ve never done a motorcycle system where the horn tweeter in the speakers are a 8ohm load and come with a crossover to protect them… so my question is. Would a DSP be beneficial to me or would I be perfectly fine without one?! I know I don’t “need” one but with the tweeters being a different load I figured I’d ask a pro cause I’ve never even heard of a DSP till I started doing motorcycle audio! Sorry for the long comment I just wanted to be thorough with what I already have and what I’m upgrading to. Thanks in advance brother.
Thanks Paul for all of your patience and attention to detail that you put into this build..Other sub will be in Tuesday and I will be back in the winter to let you install it and retune the bike..
I just emailed you guys. I am looking to upgrade the system in my 2008 Harley Electra GLide. This is my 1st harley and in my opinion, the system in it sounds like donkey poop. I have watched a couple of your videos and I appreciate all the info you are giving out. I cant wait to see what you guys suggest for my bike.
