My favorite fish~ I've been eating this fish since I was a child, that bones are not even a problem. Fry, steam, grill, bake, paksiw, kinilaw, sushi, and relyeno. So many ways to cook this fish and I always love them all.
in Indonesia its known as Bandeng, 7 out of 10 food selller usually have it on their menu . for the milkfish that cooked using pressure cooking we called it "Bandeng Presto"
I swallow the small bones every time, except for the ones located near the tail(they’re sharp). The small bones in its body can’t hurt you if you swallow them as they are as thin as a hair. Just avoid the ones near the fin, the tail and the head. If you haven’t taste the milkfish belly, I encourage you to do so. One of the tastiest. Even better than salmon belly.
Hi Norhidayah...would be great to meet up with you and talk about fish. I am an importer and distributor of seafood particularly sustainable. Check us out on FB Seafood Merchant or SouthEast Trading. Take care.
I’m a Bengali living in Indonesia for the last 3 years. Me and my wife love having Milkfish, or Bandeng as it’s commonly known here, due to its similarity in taste and texture with our very own Hilsa. Hilsa tends to be a little bit more pungent than Milkfish but overall we’ve found a a very tasty substitute for Hilsa here in Indonesia.
Try out "Bandeng Asap Cabut Duri" Deboned, butterflied milkfish, and it is smoked for 6 hours. It is highly available in Sidoarjo, Indonesia. You can even buy it in online stores to send it to your city. They are deliciously killer ❤👍👍👍
I am from Bangladesh. In my country we have a saying :Life of a Climbing Perch'. This is related to anything that simply refuses to die. This fish even when processed and without their vital oragans can still escape or move for hours.
