We are Mariyah and Colby. We live on our 42ft sailboat Tigerlilly. We sold everything we owned in Seattle and set off for Mexico. Sailing the Sea of Cortez for a couple years and filming our adventures!

Use SD cards for storage not hard drives and on the boat your computer should have a SSD and not a magnetic disk drive. That environment is way to hard on mechanical data storage.
yesss! We started buying more SD cards after we started losing clips. I would have never thought about normal hard drives being different on a boat before. Always learning something lol!
Of all then things I learned working on and building boats I never learned sewing. That is a huge advantage for not just your boar but anywhere you go you will find people willing to pay for your work. Great channel, jut found you guys and I will be fallowing you.
When your a couple sailing, you may be the captain. But the wife still makes the decisions. It’s a mutiny that happened long ago before sailing and just never got fixed 😂
I know this is a complete newb question, specifically how is ocean sailing different from the conditions where you did your learning? What surprised you about the ocean? I've really enjoyed watching your journey 😊
I can’t speak for Colby, but for me it was the waves. Really the whole seastate. In Washington we had calm most of the time. No matter where you anchored it was always calm. Even sailing it was like lake sailing all the time really. We didn’t have big ocean rollers or confused waves like we experienced in open ocean. The wind being gone but the waves still being there and not knowing which way they’re going.
I wish someone would have told me when my weight was out of control. So my beautiful friend eat with awareness and exercise. I love your vids - no judgment ❤
Next season I hope we can actually film some. We couldn’t do much this season cause our chain plates are bad so we didn’t sail much this season since we weren’t confident in our rigging. That is our first boatyard project next season so hopefully we all get to see a lot more sailing in the future!!

We still do, but some of the anchorages down here have super soft sand and it makes using the wheels really hard. They kinda just dig into the sand and refuse to move 😂 So we anchor it when it’s like that!

We were going back and forth between San Carlos and Penasco and we decided on San Carlos this year just because of location. I think next season we’re planning for Penasco though we’ll see. Maybe we will see you in The Sea next season!
Awww, kitty... Done that route many , many times. During the fall/winter, tuck in as far NE as you're comfortable. Once the southerlies start to blow, May, June, etc., tuck south. Spend a few days next time. The reef along the north end of the bay is great snorkeling.
Happy to find your channel. Would love to see a video of actual sailing. Sailing maneuvers, trimming of sails. Would like to see these things and the communication as a couple. Nobody ever wants to show these things on their videos. Subscribed!
Yesss! We actually have a video coming soon about why we haven’t been sailing as much. We found a problem on one of our chain plates that have made us hesitant to sail this season. Unfortunately right now we’re a glorified motor boat 😅 We’re fixing these problems now so next season when we come down we can actually sail again. Trust us we both miss it. I personally hate hearing the motor when we’re under way!
With food Ida invested in fishing gear and a crab/shrimp pot. I never counted on it, but it was nice when they hit. Also thoroughly enjoying your prep and dock time. Thanks for doing this!
We did get some fishing gear and we also got a spear gun. Colby has thoroughly enjoyed using that down here in Mexico! The fish is amaaaazing!! I don’t know how I never liked fish before this trip 😅

Funny enough Sea Otter Jimmy was the guy we thought had a part but it ended up being a little different than the one we needed. He is a great rescourse in La Paz for sure! Thanks for watching our videos and glad to hear you’re enjoying them! 💕
