Simply put, this is a channel for anyone who has those random urges to RU-vid a hike, run, ski resort, or anything else that includes Colorado. I'll be throwing in some stuff from all over the world but there is nothing more satisfying to me than to share some of my most memorable locations here in Colorado. If you have any recommendations for me to go and test out, I'm all ears! #AvantLink #1162277
I am getting more and more into editing videos. Making them seems to force me outdoors more and more, so I hope to keep them going. Some of the videos I make include... - Hiking - Trail Running - Travel - Gear Reviews - Skiing
Please consider subscribing to the channel and to also look at the links above for my Facebook and Strava accounts!!!!
Thank you again for checking out the channel! I hope to see you OOT and ABOOT!
This was the end of July 2022. It was the week of that massive heat wave throughout Europe, so it was very hot. Once we got to Switzerland, the weather cooled. So nice!
Appreciate it, Paul! Weather was great in the morning but the heat did rise later in the day. With no clouds it was tough but very fun. You'll love it, do it!
I just think they have to shut this down when it rains and have the people eligible to go another time instead of reentry to the lottery. This will prevent people from taking risks.
If OSHA has to get involved due workers falling down, then it would make sense for people to were a harness when climbing this. It is a slow from this and you’ll think out wearing one when sliding off the face of this rock. I would do this but I’ll be wearing one next year.
We wore harnesses when we did this. She did not want to (at home.) But when she stood at the base, she demanded that harness! People above you can fall and take you off the rock. The next day Danielle Burnett slipped and died. It was very sobering seeing the helicopter with her body only dangling far below the bird in a basket. They did not bring her into the chopper. No point really and it would take more time and gas. She had a harness but was not clipped on at that moment. They need to require harnesses and two pigtails- so one clip is always on the wire. You have to unclip about every 15 feet because there are support poles. I found Half Dome pretty easy. I did not like the rock you have to scramble before you get to HD. It is called Sub Dome. No place to clip onto. Very steep and slippery and no railings.
Always do! Haha I feel like an amateur if I'm wearing a full backpack without hiking for at least 3 days straight. Hope you have an awesome weekend, Chad!
Wow! What a beautiful, amazing country! I would have loved those hot springs! Way to be the only golfer for the day! Purple looks good on you Cory!🤣 it was great to see Stephan and Eva in the video! Thank you for sharing your experiences and commentating the beautiful country of Iceland!❤
@@CoryGrasser this isn’t about me my guy. Poor girl died going down those cables. You should be preaching about safety harness rather than be reckless. 🤷🏼♀️
Most people refuse to even wear gloves, let alone a harness on this. We wore gloves, and we're confident in our ability. We actually have done much harder climbs with less. That girl was unfortunate, but don't preach to me when you couldn't even tell me the trail head to start this hike at.
@@CoryGrasser how hard is it to preach safety, instead focusing on a good shot? Not that hard but instead , you’re trying to defend not wearing or advocating for safety equipment
Once again, I wore gloves and would highly suggest doing so. Sounds like you won't be doing this hike, so you'll have nothing to worry about. Cheers and have a good life.
If you prefer mountain views, it is more than understandable. However, the resort is the most advanced and lusorious in Europe. For the mountain views, you can go to the Carpathian mountains. 2-3 hours drive. Check them out too. Cheers.
Fun hike but do wear a harness- for sure. A lady died the day after we did this year ago as well- 2019. She was in amazing shape too- like this dude but the rain came in quickly and she simply slipped. Had a harness but was not clipped on at the time. RIP Danielle Burnett.
I don’t why people choose to push themselves to do it in a day. Take 3 days. This gal should never have been that exhausted and facing rain. RIP Danielle.
Really enjoyed your production Cory! Brought back a lot of memories of our family trip when Sara and I went with the boys in 2017. Loved everything about our Iceland trip except the price of eating/drinking out! Love the addition of your drone footage for views I couldn't have imagined when we were there.
Ever since you guts went I told myself I gotta get over there one day. Lol the drone shots were amazing but those birds over there did not like it lol😅
@@XpapricaX A young woman who is beloved and was someone's daughter- you referred to her as a "chick." Definition: Sometimes offensive way to refer to a young woman. It can also be used as a modifier. Looking at the videos on your channel you are a very immature person. Do better. God is watching. You think you are slick, cool and edgy. Trust me, you are not.
@@CoryGrasser Yeah. And that IS cool! It makes us feel like we’re actually there with you. Which is why I don’t even download music to listen on hikes. The wind, the panting, the yelling to “hold on” makes it a genuine experience. But love the POV video btw. I’m trying to make it this year before the poles are put away again
@@CoryGrasser Given your shape, you are not huffing or puffing that much. Steve was right. That cheesy club music is just that- cheesy. Maybe less of it next time Cory?
Good point. I wore one. It is necessary. Too many people slip and die- happened when we were there in 2019 as well. Harness is ~$50. Piece of mind. They are discouraged by the rangers for some strange reason. It did not slow us down a bit. We were faster than everyone because we were confident.
Nice video and congrats on crushin' your first 50K! I'll be doing the 30K of this race in a couple of days and just used your video as a means to preview the course.
First of all, I am excited for you. If you take proper breaks, bring plenty of water and are able to filter out water at the several streams and water crossings then I think that is huge. Bring hiking poles, and start early. Biggest thing is to just enjoy the views and get yourself a parking spot at Maroon Lake so you have plenty of time to complete the loop without having to take a shuttle down which ends at 5pm. Take photos and let me know how it goes!!!!!
Did the same thing with a brand new drone. Tree was behind it and tied up a leaf in one of the motors. It’s probably still dangling there in a canyon in rural Mexico
Also, what is the best place to park your car. I notice your parked in Aspen around 6:30am. how did you get to the start? What is your recommendations?
@roebucksadventure I think you'll be fine. We actually went at my wife's pace who is the same and ran several half marathons. We got a parking pass and drove from Snowmass ski resort to the main trailhead at Maroon Lake. This will save you loads of time but reserve it early. Shuttles only run until 5pm so that's why you'll want to park up there. Hope this helps!
This is great! Thanks for capturing it ... well, mostly the first half 😀 I knew the hill out of Troybilt was going to be tough, but I wasn't prepared for how rolly, windy and rocky the final descent to the finish was. Even with sunglasses, my eyes were fried at the end. I would definitely do this race again. Well done on your second ultra! Good luck getting into OCC. I missed out this year -- even with five stones. I'm doing Speedgoat in a few weeks and then Kodiak 100k in October. I may try for OCC again next year or face my fears and try for CCC.
Great review. Just a question, maybe I’m doing something wrong: I tried to put in the back pocket a 500 ml soft flask but it kept on bouncing while running. How did it work for you?
