how many grams of yarn does this pattern require? I have two 100gram skeins of medium yarn I want to make a scarf matching a hat a have a friend last year for christmas

This is really beautiful.. I am going to make a blanket for my son-in-law. He is a scuba diver and teaches scuba diving. He has taught my daughter and their kids. They take trips to Hawaii and the Caribbean for scuba diving. So his blanket will be the ocean bed with a coral reef scene.

I haven't made one with a 4 weight yarn. It will alter the size a lot, so you may have to adjust the starting chain length and the number of repeat rows. It would probably be best to start out with the hook size the yarn suggests using and see how that looks.
