Well done. I don't agree with all of it but well done.

For me it's a straight 10, best musical ever, best soundtrack ever and not just one but multiple all time chase scenes and like you say, so so many quotable lines, I have probably watched this film maybe 100 times in my life like so I may be just a tad biased and overlook some shall we say minor issues in it haha. Just wanted to also say the research you lads do is always superb, so many times during this I was learning new stuff about a film I thought I knew a shiteload about 👏👏👏

Loved that Luke and Westy change their togs at the last of the 'show'. As Matt says....Shameless!!!

Good analysis lads. I find it a tough watch but it's still a 9/10. Btw Southern Comfort (1981) is worth a watch for a Deliverance in Cajun territory type spin.

I saw this at a drive-in soon after it was released. I was in high school. It was a BAD choice for a date movie. I remember hanging up the speaker and driving her home in almost total silence. I've never watched it in its entirety since, but I recognize its power (and not just the notorious scenes). So much of that film is burned into my brain. A truly menacing experience.

The most underrated director ever is Ken Russell. He should be on this list before several of these.

Such a killer list of movies! Makes me think of CronoRevolution, which has that same epic dystopian feel but in book form! 🎬🚀

John Carpenter has a pretty good 4 in a row with "The Fog", "Escape from New York", "The Thing", and "Christine" And of course Stanley Kubrick depends on how you feel about "Barry Lyndon" You have "Dr Strangelove", "2001 a Space Odyssey", "A Clockwork Orange", "Barry Lyndon", "The Shining", "Full Metal Jacket", and "Eyes Wide Shut"

I think not knowing what the hell the true story is is the point. Singer puts you in thes shoes of Kuljian -- you swalled a gripping story and maybe like him you thought you would figure it out because you're smarter. But in the end, Kaiser has the last laugh.

A nice list of directors. Each one has given us something great. To open doors for others. Movies like Some Like It Hot, The Thing 1982 and Jaws to name a few.

Even the cameos were so funny! You may not see the humor unless you're old enough. For example the steam bath scene had Steve Lawrence as their contact. I recall he had a mob-ish, connected air to him. That is so funny to me. Steve Lawrence was half of the Steve and Edie music duo in the late 60's. They sang the kind of music that my 30-something parents would listen to. Popular with the moms and dads more than the kids. Very conventional and acceptable. Taking on an acting part at all, let alone an edgy mob guy that was still approachable for non-mob stuff (old school mafia community conscious presentation) was especially surreal.

I live here in MILWAUKEE. And...just over our bridge is The US Bank Building. That building is visible during "the car jump/free fall" in the background in the film. Kinda cool, yes? 👊 ( Yep, a bit was filmed in MKE)

One of my fave films of all-time - the DynamicDuo of Dan & John ranks up their w/ Stan & Ollie, Bud & Lou, Bing & Bob and Dean & Jerry - I have a huge poster of the film framed in the alcove of my apartment - it’s the first thing you see as you enter my apartment. Inspired lunacy - it never fails to have me LOL (for me it’s the 2nd attack - the rocket launcher - by Carrie Fisher’s MysteryWoman - w/the fall-out *seeing ‘Jake’ {obviously a dummy} falling in the cave-in!) JustTheBest. The Paul Brickman anecdote is awesome - had no idea! Great job, gents!

The IRA are after Harold because the british security forces kill their men at the start ( in the farmhouse). As it was Harolds man who took the money to Belfast the IRA think Harold told the British where the IRA were, and kept the money for himself....

HAL was made from a film camera lens set inside a monolith/movie screen shaped rectangle. The monolith being a movie that teaches us apes to evolve. You can watch a RU-vid video of Peter Jackson's original HAL9000 prop when he is shown that the lens is not missing because the lens cap is screwed on his eye.
