Hey! Thanks for the review. Well done 👍🏼. Looking at this specific version / colour but looks like it's no longer offered for sale on the site. Any suggestions?
This is my favorite daily Bible. Love the CSB translation, the single-column format, the font style and size, the clean layout of the text, the size of the Bible, etc. I wish they would make the exact Bible with better materials and binding and I’d buy one in a heartbeat!
Thanks so much for the unboxing and review. I received my nkjv on yesterday with the red case, placed a small red ribbon inside, and purchased a larger magnifier. This Bible Is Beautiful With Wide Margins. 😊 Blessings to you and your family 👏
No way! That's me! The Macleran is already on its way. But it seems I may have to return it. The black letter/line matching might make a difference, but I won't know for sure until I see it personally. Thanks so much!
@@TheBibleReviewer Oh, no worries! I had already ordered it before I watched the original video. I can always return it. (We are so blessed to have all these options.) Thanks for addressing it. I'm sure it will also help others!
@@TheBibleReviewer The saga continues. The Macleran just arrived. I've just done a quick look because I am in the middle of work stuff. But WOW, I think it works for me! The print is a bit smaller than my ESV Large Print Compact. But it is SO much clearer! I can't believe it. The black letter helps a ton as well. I can't wait to unstick all the pages and look through it further. This will be my first time reading the NKJV, as well. I will be sad to donate my beloved ESV. We've been through a lot together. But my old, tired, screen-fried eyeballs can't handle it anymore. I'm sure someone else will be able to use it. Anyway, thanks!
Great reviews @TheBibleReviewer (I'm a new subscriber). You've reviewed the Heritage and the new PSQ. If you had to pick only one in the ESV, which would it be and why?
I had one, good for the glove box or mild child proofing in the living room, but the index tabs would catch non-stop and it annoyed me constantly. I think without indexes it's probably great (or do your own with the sticker type).
I had a compact McClaren NKJV, kept it in my glove box or in my gym bag inside a gallon freezer bag, and it held up decent for over a year. I did have to glue the cover corners up once, it was fine after awhile, maybe another year... and then I just couldn't do the fine print anymore. For whatever reason, I don't like the full sized as much, they're not cute and cozy?
I love small books in general. And Bibles in particular! They are easy to hold when reading on the go. Alas, my eyes keep getting worse the older I get, so they are getting more difficult to see.
Thank you so much for giving viewers the perspective of see the Bible in your hands in relation to yourself and your surrounding! It really helps give a sense of its actual size, something most reviews don’t show. It's kind of hard to tell if a Bible is personal size, compact, etc. when it's just sitting on a table. I think I’ve found my new everyday carry Bible!
Oh, man, I wish I could see this in person. I am tempted to switch from ESV to NKJV. Or at least try it. But 7 point sounds super small. But I've heard there's been a bit of disagreement on font sizes and such, especially between different translations. I wonder how this compares with my ESV Large Print Compact, which is 8 point. But if this one is 1) line matched and 2) black letter, it may work for me. I can still see my ESV, just not for long periods of reading. It's an older one and I don't think it's line matched. The red letter is especially "muddy" and strains my poor old, tired eyeballs. Anyway, thank you for this review. There's a faux leather one at Christianbook for about $20. Maybe I'll just buy it and if it doesn't work for my eyes, I can donate it.
Well you just cost my $17.00 on Amazon for the burnt sienna bible. I love the CSB and wanted a good cross reference Bible. A little worried about the font size but I’ll just wear my hot pink mags. Oh and when ever I want a book review I watch your videos first. In fact I bought the giant print compact NLT after your review. So thanks for being around.
I use this as my “study” bible, it’s written in and everything. Love it, it’s helped me draw closer to god. Definitely going to get myself a more “premium” bible soon though.
That cover is stunning! I love it! Silver gilding--MY FAVORITE!!! I love all the colors in this bible and you know...I won't lie, these bibles are great studying tools for new believers that are adults. Why? Because of the information they provide. From the book introductions, timelines, spotlights, starring roles & focus (which I love), dictionary, location information and so much more! Some adult bibles don't have this and as I stated previously, a new believer would really benefit from this study bible. I think the only thing this bible would need would be a red-letter as I feel that it helps the student clearly see that these are the words of Christ. Other than that....Awesome Bible!!!!
As a grown (40s) man, I still like to flip through NIV adventure bibles occasionally. Novelty, nostalgia, whatever: it's colorful *with no ghosting* and it's not boring. They're available in NKJV and NASB now, so the adventure bible has more options (I thought NIV and NIrV had it covered), but I'm glad there is a new format between "my precious moments crossed with barney" and "stare till you fall asleep from boredom". These new NKJV offerings have the look of 1990s middle school textbooks, that's another nostalgia trigger👍 NLT has it's own attempt, IMO they're not good though. Ugly, garish, like newspaper comics but pastel.... maybe some Rinn and Stimpy aesthetic too.
@@nobodyspecial1852 Rinn & Stimpy 😂 Now that is a throwback! Wait...is this available in NASB? Really???? If so, I actually wouldn't mind one of these in that translation.
Heritage would be perfect with 32 or 36 gsm but yes completely perfect layout. Only thing comparable to me is the TN single column side reference (but barely goes to gutter) and humble lamb shepherd
@@TheBibleReviewer hi brother yes I had it briefly and gifted it to a friend pastor that moved from the KJV to the ESV and really liked it so I blessed him
Aside from ghosting I like it, but I despise ghosting because: if I can read the next page (mirrored) then I will read it while trying to read the proper side, can't turn it off. It's like listening to the radio when another station is overlapping the same channel.
I don't know of crossway ever using a different text block when different bindings are available. AFAIK none of the major publishers do anymore, that's the appeal of many Zondervan/Thomas Nelson offerings ( [Zondervan had a stake in most you'll see] premium bible text blocks for $50 and then send them to someone like floresh or tenebrous lux).
The tru tone has cheaper and rougher paper. Interestingly though it is slightly more opaque and has less ghosting. The premium version has the silky smooth paper you'd fine in a Schuyler. With the tru tone you'll notice a lot of the paper sticking together out of the box and the paper is almost curved rather than lays flat like the premium edition.
Still a bit tight in the gutter-my only criticism of my genuine leather KJV Sovereign, which I often recommend. Thomas Nelson provides a lot of quality for the price in these Sovereign editions. Useful review as always, brother.
These leathertex versions are built amazing. I’ve used the thinline reference for more then a year and it’s been my favorite constructed bible. I don’t think any other mfg has anything like these versions. I have a few different layouts for the nasb 2020. I’ll have to pick up one of these too. Still waiting to catch the Prime versions. I might also get the Holman or the Zonderzan 2020 too. Soon I will have a whole channel just reviewing nasbs lol.
