Do you think that people with a misdemeanor domestic violence conviction will ever be able to own guns again when there was none or not serious violence involved? Eg. a technical violation of a protective order with no violence say?
Thanks, Colin! I did not have my thoughts collected. After the interview I cut my reply brief from 8 pages to 2 pages. The state relies on Litterer v. Judge, e, 644 N.W.2d 357, 361 (Iowa 2002), asking whether there was statutory authority to create an administrative rule to set the percentage of ethanol in gasoline. Litterer did not make a constitutional claim. The Secretary of Agriculture relied on lack of “legislative” authority. Id. at 360. Constitutional authority was never even discussed in that case. These government officials think "law" is only statutory. We'll see whether the court agrees with that.

Need advice and help. Police have report and police let the girl go when she couldn't show proof of insurance as she told them it was her boyfriend's car and she was going to be late for work.
Air bags did not deploy, my ii was almost a month B4 I found out that they had insurance. My insurance company was ready to write me a CK.. called police several times, got no info. from them . They did not follow through. Returned my call one time from the officer and then never again. The station gave me her seargents #, never returned my calls. Almost a month I get a letter stating that there was insurance and if I didn't reply immediately they would consider the case closed. Very upset to get a letter like that after all the time and effort I did trying to find them. They totaled my vehicle out and only gave me so much. That dsnt make me whole. I'm not the cause of the accident. I only had the vehicle about 8 months. Can't pay my loan off to get another car and I'm stuck. They did give me a rental for a week but it's memorial Day weekend and I can't talk to dealers as not open. We looked at private owner cars, no good I'm stuck and don't know what else to do any ideas?

But you talking about Iowa. It's still the 1980's here. And most would prefer it go back another 30-40 years. Another problem is there's no attempt at 'deterrence'. That'd be too much work. It's easier to complain and make penalties harder than look at the whole picture or root of the problem. And I don't even care about drunk driving...but it's the same laws for other crimes that could be punished or solved in better ways...for the person and community. But it's just not profitable.
A man in Texas drunk driving killed a woman. He hit her head on. She was on her way home from a class reunion. The judge excused her family from courtroom and let him off scott free with no punishment whatsoever because he had a wife and kids at home. So unfair!
I'm lucky to be alive today from being hit by a drunk driver and he never spent a second behind bars and never lost his license. Guess what they have in common?? Democrat policies. They apparently make money off these criminals.
You said Iowa. In California my wife was killed by a drunk driver and he was sentenced to 6 months in jail. The year was 2000 and that's the sentence he received.

Why do the driver have to be considered of the safety of the cop when he or she initiated the stop on the road??!!🤔 Then cops act like we should be happy to get pulled over or it is a privilege to be pulled over by them!!??!🤔😏.....i mean people either don't want to hold a conversation with cops or drivers just answer the cops questions to try to have a decent encounter but all at the same time drivers be thinking give me my ticket or warning so we can get the fk from around you!!! It is to point to where anyone can be a cop!!! So it is nothing special!!!
Also you do not need to roll the window all the way down. In doing so you're allowing them more access to visually search your vehicle. In most cases they use it as probable cause to search. ALWAYS revoke a search and NEVER answer any questions.
Fun fact. We do alcohol presentations at high schools every year. During these presentations we put athletic high school students through field sobriety tests. We have yet to have students pass by law enforcement standards, both the walk and turn and one leg stand tests.
What he’s talking about actually happened to my uncle. He blew a 0.00 on the breathalyzer but cops said he failed the field sobriety test so they said well u must be under the influence of something other than alcohol..so they arrested him charged with with a dui and towed his car in…with literally no proof beside a 62yr old man couldn’t stand on one leg and walk a straight line good enough for them. It’s a bullshit test
I think as long as you can’t be charge for any past unlawful actions if found on the black box then there’s no problem but if they find something from years or weeks ago and charge you then no don’t
