I have a 1989 560 sel the blower motor tests good but one of the controls work. All fuses are good but don’t have a clue where to begin on getting it to work. Thanks
Like what's the hybrid mode disabled completely? I mean like if the car was at idle the engine would kick off and it would just go into hybrid mode while the gear is in parking?

Every stealership and car shop has the lowest end slack jawed yokel perform oil changes. I had our ordinary car with a spin on oil filter get an oil change at my wifes dealer-employer years ago. I was working a lot of OT and had no time. Next oil change, I used a screwdriver through the side of the filter to gain enough leverage to remove it. The drain plug was ran down with an airtool, cross threaded. The car had a hardened nut in the pan, with a softer metal plug. I was able to replace the plug. Today's cars are aluminum pans with hard metal fine thread plugs. These plastic cartridge housings are the result of the EPA wanting to limit spin on can filter waste. In the end destroy a engine and not save the environment. It's poor engineering with foolish propaganda. Overcomplicated to screw up the diy'ers.

Hello, yes I remember the car! and you! Yes we work on the 126 with the M117 engine. The car show nights are the 3rd Thursday of each month May through September.
I work at a lube center in the pit (below the car) have had many of these things break even if at torque spec it’s a crap design best thing to do is replace the stock plastic one to a metal one they are way stronger so should it weld it’s self you can get it back off. Without having to chisel the remains out and risk more damage.
Why did Toyota reconfigure the entire oil filter process and toss the spin-on style? Going to install a metal one next oil change - will take care to lube the threads well. 2020 Tacoma
2023 tacoma with 15k miles bought it at 9k. called stealership to confirm that they were the ones that had done two oil changes before i bought. the housing unit was absolutely impossible to take out with a ratchet even applied a tube to it to get better force to twist and nothing. broke a 3/8 METAL extension from how hard we were trying to get it off. first time doing an oil change on this so i 1000% made sure i wasn't tightening it. tried for hours and just gave up because even a impact gun couldn't take it out.... called the stealership the next day and they assured me they did not over tightened it. i will be taking it to them so they can deal with it but after that i will never get it serviced with them again
I can not understand the benefit of these canister housings. The filter media cost just as much as the metal canister filters, these are a PIA to deal with as they are messy, have two rubber gaskets that have to be replaced, and must have special oil filter removal tool to get them off. Dealership mechanics definetly over tighten everything. Surprised to see a torque wrench that nice in a dealership. And if you take it to your local Jiffy Express Lube, they'll crossfred the strews everytime. Lordy!
My town and country is having some issues today. I’m moving to a new house and it’s what I’ve got. The irony is that I’ve recently separated from my violent husband who’s a mechanic. Lol. Seriously he has never fixed a single thing on any of my vehicles in twenty years just to be petty and spiteful. He said if I have a car I’ll be able to meet someone and leave him. No I didn’t though. I had to remove him from us cuz he thinks he’s allowed to attack me and my oldest son and break everything we own including my vehicle. So now I get to find a mechanic who hopefully doesn’t know him. Honestly he’s not a good mechanic anyways and he’s also on drugs at work so I wouldn’t let change my oil. Oh well.
When you mention “bottom out” the housing, do you mean turning until it absolutely stops, even if it has passed the 18ft/lbs on a torque wrench? It just seems like it doesn’t take much turning to reach 18ft/lb.
Awesome video explaining it. This is how i work on my Lexus and Toyota filters. I even use a torque wrench on my drain bolt so i can get the crush washer off easily. At least on my accord if you over tighten it up can't get the washer over the threads
nice. a mechanic is replacing these on our suburban today. It is hard to find a decent mechanic that can correctly diagnose suspension issues. There are a lot of really sloppy mechanics out there from what I am finding out. Even at new car dealerships, they can not be fully trusted sadly. The world is changing to where sloppiness and halfway work is acceptable. It is important to discuss expectations with salesmen because they don't always intend on delivering quality service to you.

Just 2 constructive points...Why torque down a oil canister housing? Just snug it in..like a spin on oil filter...Why did you use used motor oil to lube the new O ring on the canister housing? New Synthetic Grease on O ring and threads before install..Please show everyone the details properly....
I need this fix on my 07 911 Targa 4S. The question is, since my mechanics never keep in stock the Bosch starter, nor do they keep in stock the wiring, if I don't want to do the entire replacement and just do the wire, to then see whether my car also needs a new starter, how do I avoid wasting time and money?
Tell me about it. I had to use a breaker bar to get the filter off after our RX350 had work done in a shop. Meanwhile would somebody tell Toyota that cartridge filters went out 40 years ago... for a reason.
