I am building a 70ft x 3ft retaining wall, I will be installing 4" perforated drain pipe and Teeing off to daylight every 8ft. Will it be good to use 2 inch pipe for daylight drainage instead of 4"?
Great video. I would have liked to see how to handle sub grade horizontal obstructions that are below the wall footing that would effect the ability to have sufficient depth of the #57 stone under the wall. Such as a structures footing, a large piece of natural stone. I am guessing there is a point where we need to use mortar to support the first layer of wall because the stone base depth is not sufficient
Wish somewhere there were pictures showing the difference between the colors on these things. Lowes has the same picture for 3 colors of these on their website.
What would happen if a setback retaining wall was configured without the long faces facing outward? would the pins not fit/lock or would it be less structurally sound? or does it just use less blocks?
@@matthewmitchell642 Yes, however many different types of this kind of block don't make inside corner blocks anymore. So stairs, fences curves or suddenly a wall ends...we have to get creative. As long as you take your time on the custom cuts you are fine. Another thing is lets say you make a "U" shaped wall or 3 sides of a square... after 4 rows high, the amount of digging in the back and extra support you have to do can be annoying if you have limited space. It has now become "think of how to solve inside corner blocks immediately" total doable, but needlessly frustrating.
Thanks. Wish i had this video a year ago when i started my country manor wall so i didnt have to figure out the charts on my own. ;) 120' x 4.5 feet tall wall with Geo grid every 2 blocks. Poured concrete footer with plenty of gravel backfill. Over a year later and i am putting on the capstone finally.
So it’s nearly impossible to cut these as described in the video. The hollow core makes it so they just crumble when you try to cut them. I had to find another way of making a square corner by just offsetting my perpendicular run.
possible order in florida? just please not Lowes they have some trash produts i sent back 3palets of alameda grey...i had nice 3palets and 4more wasters with ugly syrfaces .bunch of cracks
