This video is the epitome of my favorite era of MTG pro play. Great players in the finals of an SCG tourney. No cheating or gaming the system. Opposing archetypes. Paper Magic. And of course the best commentators the pro play circuit has ever had to offer. Can't really get better than this. AND THAT G2 BLOOD MOON FIGHT GODDAMN
Even 10 years later Tom Ross is still one of the most underrated MtG players of all time. And Cedric and P Sully made a fantastic job at showcasing that with their commentary. We didn't know how good we had it...
Oscar, you little pipsqueak who thinks he's the next Brodie. You need to learn to more aware about the ramifications of how you tweet and own it when you s*** the bed boy.
Its cool to see Infect! I also built an Infect deck but its very different from Tom's deck, I use *Tyvar's Stand* and *Tamiyo's Safekeeping* to protect my infect creatures but seeing as this match was a long time ago these cards were not yet released so he didn't have access to them. I also use *Slip Through Space* , *Distortion Strike* , and *Artful Dodge* to make my infect creatures unblockable *{::>_<::}*
does anyone know what kind of large sharp white dice those are? i would love some of them for spelltable play. mine are too small and shitty for webcam play
34:15 - choice is between a) buckling blow -> block with 1 card, take 2 dmg, then atk and take 2 cards + new horizons from lexi next turn, or b) CnC -> block 2 cards take 0 , then on their next turn you can block 3 or 4, and have the option to go plating + CnC on your turn requiring 2 cards. In the immediate term, it's basically a choice between - do you want to be at 2 lower life, or lexi to have lost new horizon? It seems like both players being at higher life favors bravo, since he can grind the game out with anothos block 3 then attack back for 4 with only 1 card, requiring 2 cards from lexi to survive. Also lexi has to pay resources to load her arrows, and if she ever fails to draw a blue, she won't be able to apply enough pressure -> bravo can swing for 6 with hammer, and the tempo swings. But letting the game go longer also gives lexi a chance to draw codex or 3 of a kind, which she can probably leverage to close out the game.
23:04 seems like grandeur of valahai might've hurt oren here? forced to keep a 4 card hand to attack with blue debilitate = 4 dmg, 1 block, 1 card from arsenal = 10 value. whereas if grandeur was any other blue, he could block 6 on the CnC, then plating + swing back with hammer for 6 (12 value).
Kevin played those matches against Caleb so well, it sucks to see him make losing plays like the sphinx's rev in game 1. Makes me think the tournament burnout was really setting in by then
