I see that this is an ancient video. I wonder if things have changed. I would expect that MTA buses would run all over the island, and connect to all the stations. Maybe all that has happened by now. This video just happened to come up in my feed.

I don't know why they don't fare expect more it makes no sense to me , why any system doesn't.....it only cost them a few hundred thousand to hire a half dozen fare inspecters. Maybe have one site on each train.
Uhhh...That was the NASSAU overpass location NOT Atlantic. Plenty of street parking at Nassau AND Atlantic BTW. Further along is where the problems are. Pleasant Plains, Prince's Bay, etc. The further north you go, the farther you have to park although Grant City and Jefferson Ave stations aren't too bad.
When I lived there in the 60's and early 70's there was crap everywhere.But then again it was common for people to throw their garbage out the windows or their cars.I haven't been back in over 25 years,I'm sure it's alot cleaner now,it has to be.I can't stress enough how much garbage was on the tracks and roads then.I need to come back and ride the rails with my daughter and wife and tell them my life stories
bs!! you want a park-n-ride at a stop [atlantic] where only the last car opens!? The east side rail line (unfortunately, the only one) is awesome. I only wish they hadn't changed the orange and red seats!
I have ridden staten island Rapid Transit Twice. Its ok. Too Bad they got rid of the other two Branch lines . that would have been something if they kept the other two Branch Lines
Ahhh, screw the park & ride. I take the train to work every day & a park & ride would encourage more people to take the train and it would be more crowded than it already is. If they're so lazy about walking a few extra blocks to take the train, let them cry to someone else.
You got to pay if you ride all the way to St. George, which is probably what 90% of the people do. A lot of those who take it now from station to station probably woudn't if you had to pay. I guess the SIRT decided they had to pay more in salaries to collect the fares than they would get in fares, besides the fares pinched by the old conductors. When I was a kid I remember my Mother pointing out to me how the conductor gave an old ticket for a new fare and pocketed what she gave him! LOL
Amazing the ride is free..when I left Si in 1988 I think it was $1 and the ferry was .25 for round trip though the VZ bridge (as I recall was $4. I understand it's $9 or $10 these days
yeah parking is a bother. i now live in maryland and they have a park and ride. it is cool and more convenient for commuters. since we do not have to walk a long distance.
You really cant count being early at the train station as time it takes to commute. An average off peak train from South Orange to Hoboken (depending when you go) could be as fast as 40 minutes. Say another 20 minutes (and thats being generous) for Path to WTC station and you have an hour to the city. Try driving that in an hour.
stop fucking crying...i take the train every day...it's always on time, at worst i have to wait 20 minutes in st. george because the ferry was late. yeah the subway would be nice but we're too far out to travel underwater so good luck.
yeah the segment at the end nassau the emty lot is contaminated with cancer it would cost so much to clean in out just for unnesessay parking tht would prob just be used for like people messing around in there cars and shit and pluss nassau and atlantic are the most run down stattions there like falling apart 1/2 the platformat nassau is original and made outa wood and ashfault
