Good video Thank You for explaining this but this is NOT a “quick and easy fix.” I gotta spool on and off 50-100 yards a few times to see if my line lay is even. And I got a PENN Fierce III 5000 size Spinning Reel that I am spooling 300 yards of 30lb braid on. This DEFINITELY IS TIME CONSUMING. Why can’t this just be simple as: I tie my arbor knot and get spooling and -BAM! Even and good to go?
@@stevepierce3509 everything included was close to 80. Customer cover and Bimini etc, so a bit extra there. If I had my time again I would have ordered from Vic and paid for transport.
@@MurrayCrabbFishing Yeah I agree as In & Outboard Marine are locally known as , In and out ya pocket. Just what I thought. Thank you and will do the homework from someone over East.
You sir, are a gem💎 After spending 30 mins mucking around with different heights on the spool, different braids, and contemplating the return of a $600 reel, you fixed my issue!!💕 Came with 3 little washes and had to remove 2, but now it's mint. I can not thank you enough for the headache
Hey punk, how in the fck is a $600 reel have a problem with uneven line lay? It must be made by china punks is the only plausible explanation I can think of.
@@MurrayCrabbFishing Hey punk, my reel has the opposite problem of yours in that has more line on the bottom and less on top so what wood you suggest I do? Thanks punk
When you drop 400 dollars on a Penn reel or in your case Diawa which is probably thousand you shouldn't have to fix it. Throwing a few washers in is just a scapegoat for rubbish machining. That can be the only reason some reels spool like this and soon do not 👍
A reel that sits right with one type of line might lay different on a different type or weight or line. Also, over time drag washers wear down which move the spool height. Quality reels acknowledge this and supply shims to counteract all sorts of issues. Its preparedness for changes and a long life of use. Something you only get with quality gear.
@MurrayCrabbFishing For sure mate, will definitely say G'day. Hopefully this winter is a good one. Some cooler lows coming in next weekend should start to clear the water up and calm the wind down. Happy fishing mate 🍻
Great to see you guys enjoying the move west man. Squid seems comfortable and well behaved on the water 👌 No 🐊🐊🐊 Much better haha. That Gold Trev made a great account for itself haha.
So glad we have got her out young so she will always be used to the boat. No crocs is soooooooooo good. And then fishing here is awesome mate, defs not upset about the move lol
Nice boat mate. Ive got the Stacer Crossfire and it has the same blade hull that you forget to mention, yours also has the flared bow which is great for deflecting the water away from you , mine tends to come in on windy days !
The Flare is the blade hull. It’s what the name of the flare on Quintrex boats is. Obviously the Stacer and Quintrex being made by the same company sees some similarities but the Quintrex hull and stacer hull are made differnt ways.
@MurrayCrabbFishing actually the bottom section at the front is the same on the Stacer. They just can't call it Blade! It's made in a similar press that is exclusive to Telwater in Queensland. Quintrex is the only hull that has the unique flare on the top sheet. I believe one day you will see it on the Stacer. However, they will call it something different! My Stacer rides as well as my mates Quintrex. However, his is dryer on waves that hit you from the side ! Both great boats, but I'm leaning on updating to bigger Quintrex as I live in the windiest city in Australia with big seas !
I think people in Aus are too bloody spoilt for choice lol Queenies are a firm meat and taste pretty good. Cooked these with some seasoning and banged them in wraps 👌🏼👌🏼👌🏼
It handles medium swells really well and handles a bit bigger swells ok but it’s not an off shore boat so once it’s over 1m and 20km winds we call it. It’s not worth the risk. Have been caught in some bigger stuff and gets a bit sketchy.
As per the NT Fish rules app. Barramundi - Possession Limit: 5 NT Wide/*3 Mary/Daly/Kakadu Size Limit: 55cm minimum, 90cm maximum in the Mary and Daly river fish management zones and kakadu.
My comment disappeared?? Guys, Daiwa has this as a normal feature, and it’s called the ABS Spool. It’s supposed to be a little wider towards the top. This advice is good for other brands but not for Daiwa owners.
Not all Daiwa reels are ABS reels. The reel I have in this video is not ABS. The high sitting line in this video is because of shim issues. If you have an ABS reel shims still come into play, you just need the line to be perpendicular to the reel.
First ABS spools came out in 2018, maybe 17 but I’m pretty sure it was 2018. This video was posted early 2019 when ABS was new news and this reel was about 4-5yrs old then so not an ABS reel itself. Information on RU-vid is always going to have this issue, at some point it will sit there long enough that technology changes around it. But shims are still important in a reel with ABS, if your reel isn’t seated right it will still throw off the lay of your line.
Took my brand new Battle II 5000 for a spin yesterday for the very first time and I hooked a 20lb yellowtail using a Ugly Stik X2 (medium hard) rod ru-vid.comUgkxM68VkfsQhHaabDce1IwOCXuvumcpbZ_k . This combo was recommended on some website and it did not disappoint me. The reel is smooth, the drag click is pretty cool cause i think it adds to the excitement of fighting the fish, personally the drag is my favorite part. I use braid and 300 yards will fill the entire spool. This combo is my main setup from now on although I have to disclose I am new to fishing.
