Exactly. My initial reaction to the price was like 'eh w/e' but as I say in the video after thinking about it, its actually insane lol. at MOST the console should be 599. at most.
I buff golden vow fire grant me strength, damage negation physic) spam (ash of war) endure and bloodflame talons and everyone died. It's hard if you play only one playstyle and that is having a rolling contest, roll 8 times, stab one time. Stop doing that and the DLC is not that hard. And for ashes of war, golden land for example is easily OP and can get you through everything so Idk..I think people get locked in to one playstyle and if they cant parry or roll every attack of the boss it's suddenly hard, it's not you are just gimping yourself, thats my opinion, great video!
@@ibrahimbaghdadi4995 it’s definitely amazing! Wasn’t on the list I found though and I’d say it’s more metroidvania than souls like but I can see it. And if so it definitely is too tier
Brasil aqui!
This kind of just seems like a difficulty tier list. Rather than judging the actual quality of the bosses in a rounded way. Watchman and Fuoco are high-quality, early game bosses for a soulslike, easily A or B for both of them. Arent bullshittingly difficult because of unreasonable spam. I personally think Romeo is probably the only S tier boss in this game. The spectacle of the fight alone is an S+.
Lady Butterfly and Genichiro? Is the only swap I would do as I think many Sekiro fans would only bec? Genichiro is basically a tutorial for how Sekiro is going to be played and the way they executed that with all the counters being invloved as well as the lightning reversal? Its just to smooth to not be a universal S tier. Lady Butterfly is an AMAZING fight? But it does not have all the counters ingrained as the Genichiro fight.
I platinumed it not to long ago but the only phase u could skip of the true monk was the second one by going to the highest branch before the shadows spawned, she just sits there and doesn't do anything (favourite boss tied with inner father)
Demon of Hatred is funny cause it's so hard for awhile but once you master it, it stays mastered. Despite learning their attack patterns other bosses can still catch me slipping due to their speed, the camera, me panicking. But the DoH no longer poses a challenge for me
@@user-ib4vp3ju7z that’s awesome you got Demon on lock! I always struggle a bit with him but I can see it becoming one of the bosses on lock because it’s more similar to a Souls boss and all those bosses can be on lock
Thank you so much for this guide--I have no idea why the developers do this to people that they have to search RU-vid for solutions to these side quests
i'd put lady butterfly B tier, True monk S tier, Ishin ashina A tier, Great shinobi owl A tier and also which fromsoft's game do you think is the best?
Fair enough! we will all have our favorites and what bosses we feel are the best. I can easily see True Monk S tier. For me personally Bloodborne is their best work.
I dont agree with folding screen monkeys being an AWFUL boss fight. It is meant to be a great gimmick boss fight. A boss fight being good or bad is not determined by how hard it is, but rather by whether it fulfills its role in the story and gameplay properly. If its role is to be a gimmick fight, so be it. The Divine Dragon is a great example of this, it is an awesome fight which is super easy and is meant to be a visual spectacle. I would put monkeys at C, definitely not D or below. Also Genichiro Ashina is the second best boss after sword saint isshin in my opinion. He embodies the massive skill check one expects at that point in the game and is absolutely fun to fight. None of the other bosses match the adrenaline he offers until Isshin (or maybe Owl father) shows up. Lady butterfly is not so good to be in S tier, she may be a B or at most A tier but not higher. She barely has a moveset worth remembering.
I may have not stated in this video but for me personally, difficulty absolutely does factor into how good a boss is (hard for sake of being hard also is bad tho). I just don't really like gimmick fights at all. Fun factor matters to me and this fight is not fun in any way for me. Genichiro I can definitely see being higher. Its a great boss. But both Owl fights imo are still superior. I'm also mega biased for lady butterfly cuz in my 1st playthru she was my first boss and spent forever lol. I respect your opinion tho ofc! its all for fun :)
I think wet nurse, blood starved, Laurence and shadows are all pretty bad, but I do think you underrated living failures. They have easily the best ost in the game and are like the only balanced gank in bloodborne
@@josepharmstrong6502 Not really. Two of them can hit you through the walls with their attacks when the second phase starts, which completely ruins the point of splitting them up with objects. Also the snake attack is complete rng and it will one shot you. Not to mention the runback is absolutely unbearable They arent terrible but there are atleast 5 gank fights better than them in just dark souls 3 alone
just 1 things to add, Genichiro is S tier cause of how well designed it is, if you don't understand basics it might be the hardest fight and vice versa, its also a skill check, and his floating passage combo is the hardest combo to deflect in the entire game, it never gets old, and inner geni takes it to next level. Also lightening deflect is soooooo satisfying
Lightning deflect is pretty damn sick! I can def see why folks would put him at S tier, just for me he isnt quite there. I did not fight the Inner bosses tho so when I play again I might change my tune!
I like Bloodborne but man are the boss fights bad compared to others. Logarious, Gascoigne, Lady Maria, really save the game. Micolash, Rom, Witch of Hemwick are trash. The rest are so mid or below average.
@@reidponce I think for me it really comes down to the overall aesthetic and vibe of the game that makes it my favorite. Because I agree some of those bosses are pretty bad
Great video, and I agree with most the points “gh” and “cg” let’s say were good bosses but the finicky hit boxes does hold them back. I think what you should have also mentioned was the grab attacks in the dlc, while some balanced some of them feel like they are straight up bs like “gh”. However, I do disagree with the looting, while yes there are areas were u would get shit rewards, and the countless chests with smithing stone 7s is annoying as shit, the exploration I felt was very rewarding with the addition of so many fucking +10 and +25 stones and new weapons in the “firey areas” for example. Also I don’t think it’s as barron as you said, I feel like while he’s there was open space main game had way more areas like why this was here, atleast in my mind, rarely I had areas of open space that wouldn’t lead to anywhere(only exception is kinda Roah, but even then I wasn’t disappointed, just hard to navigate the area). Great dlc and great review, was very challenged, granted I did challenge myself but I had a lot of fun with it and I think it’s probably top 3 dlcs from has made.
There's a difference between Soulsborne and Souls-like games. Souls like are the games similar to DS but not made by Fromsoft, or the games made by fromsoft whose name does not have souls or borne in jt
@@themarathonman2874 well it’s next to dark souls 2(and above it) it’s opposite end of the tier of ds1. For me the world and environment in the new lords of the fallen was spectacular. The level design was incredible too. My biggest complaint with the game was the clunkiness/jank of movement/combat.
@@smaldor I respect it but Lords of the Fallen really fell off in the second half for me because of the enemy variety and level design. Sure it looked great but every new area played out the same way. Same exact enemies with a different element and a boss that ended up being throughout the level every time. The lag in certain areas especially the swamp was horrific and the final boss was terrible. If you run an inferno build it will be 9 hours before you find a good weapon meanwhile if you run radiance every weapon you find is fucking radiance. Terribly balanced game. Wish I liked it as much as you I really wanted to
@@soldierswag4884 you don’t have to do any side quests and you don’t have to explore for 50 hours lol. Within 10 minutes you can fight the first boss what are you talking about
S+ tier: Nioh 1/2 S tier: Lies of P, Code Vein A+ tier: Remnant 1, absolver, stellar blade A tier: immortal unchained, hellpoint B tier: thymesia, wo long C tier: strangers of paradise, mortal shell, surge 2, steelrising D tier: lords of the fallen, ashen
I think many players like Bloodborne a lot because it was their fist souls-like experience, so they have a kind of bias towards it. But there is no way I would put Bloodborne above Elden Ring, not even above DS3.
@@rvons2 wasn’t my first. But did originally play on launch day in 2015. For me its world and lore are so far beyond the other games. And its combat is the 2nd best of any FromSoft game (sekiro is superior in that regard). Also I’m a huge sucker for hub areas like Bloodborne/DeS
I think mortal shell being in B is fairly rated. It‘s nothing ground braking but solid and fun. It was my first souls-like experience and imo makes it easier to get into this genre than starting with the real souls games. I‘m currently playing DS1 and I appreciate having some experience with this genre already.
@@smaldorI’m really enjoying it :) It certainly has flaws, like hitting the wall rather than the enemy when being in a tight room or grinding souls to upgrade, but the overall gameplay loop and atmosphere in general is really cool and addictive. I actually started with og demon souls on the ps3 but it got a ylod, so I had to put souls games down for a while. But I’m glad I changed my mind about starting DS remastered.
@@smaldor I get what you mean, but most people are better off with the remake anyway. I still remember the og game running pretty bad sometimes and there‘s some overall sluggishness you can fell when playing. So I think the remake is the best way to experience it. At least that‘s what I‘ll do next time.
i wish i played the older souls games before elden ring, sekiro and ds3 because ds1 is TERRIBLE for me. The game seems like it's 30% finished and the layout of the areas is like they want to make the game shit so i would never get how someone puts it above elden ring. I'm finishing bloodborne now and it seems like it's the oldest game you should finish by fromsoft.
DS1 definitely has not aged well. especially if you have played the newer titles. But imo (aside from Izilith stuff) the game is complete and has some of the best interconnected level design to date. But a lot of us older souls players also look with rose-tinted glasses, even if we replayed recently.
good list based takes, would of liked to see your takes on ER though. IMO personally a lot of people cut it too much slack solely because its either their first souls like or are blind to its failures (intentionally or not). The game probably has some of Fromsofts highest highs and lowests lows. Their animation work is top tier, the enemy visual design is great as well, and the addition of jumping/crouching adds a extra layer of mechanics to the gameplay I enjoyed. The music was alright, but personally I felt like it was kinda lackluster compared to some older tracks in the previous games. The open world is too large and underutilized, especially in the later parts of the game in mountaintop and even in the DLC there is a lot of dead empty space. A lot of encounters just dont feel rewarding on your first playthrough whenre a lot of the loot feels completely useless and you dont know where to get the things that you actually need are. The open world also forces From to resuse a lot of their enemies in a manner which I found to be quite cheap, uninteresting, and kind of harms the incentive for players to explore when they are just fighting the same side enemies over and over again. I can only get so excited about seeing the same ulcerated tree boss or asylum demon reskins so many times. The Ashe of War System and the Spirit Ashe system in addition to the open world aspect kind of allows the player to trivialize the game entirely. There is way less incentive to learn boss movesets or mechanically improve when you can just summon a spirit ashe (without increasing the boss's HP scaling btw), allow it to tank, whilst you wail on the enemy mindlessly. Ashes of War in this game also make its extremely easy as you can just put broken any ashe on most weapons and just completely steamroll enemies (lions claw, swift slash, BHS/raptors of the mist for insane i-frame, black flame tornado, pre-nerf seppuku, pre-nerf hoarfrost, and more). The weapons in the game are also the most overpowered we've ever seen with stuff like Blasphemous Blade and Moonveil deleting enemies + incredible sustain + knockldown power. Status Effects have also never been stronger, with bleed, frost, and scarlet rot being able to take over 30-50% of a bosses HP bar throughout an entire fight. Now stuff like deleting bosses have been in previous games before but I feel like it has been been this easy, not that its necessarily bad but it feels like you are not really incentivized to earn your victories like before but rather to just L2 spam your way to a win with a summon at your back. Another thing is a multiplayer which took a huge step back from DS3 going from 6 players to 4 players and only allowing hosts to be invaded when they had a summon. fight clubs are kind of dead and always invading into 2v1, 3v1 gets a little stale. The arena maps are also a step back from the DS3 arenas with every single one of them being a giant ass circle with barely any cover. the covenant system has also been completely removed without a replacement or an attempt at improving it and the Netcode is as per usual completely trash.
@@peevan yeah an earlier comment noted I never explained why I ranked ER where I did so I replied to his comment with my reasons. I will probably do a separate full thoughts on Elden Ring with the dlc as a whole soon
