Mcrae hot weather army boots last forever, Ive worn my same basic training issued boots since 2014 I finally stopped wearing them to try a different brand. My mcrae cold weather boots are the same age and I wear them every winter. What do you mean only lasts one season?
Do you know if the sizing is like the OCP GEN 3 ECWCS Level 7 Army Extreme Cold Weather PRIMALOFT Jacket Parka Coat? With the lvl 7 they recommend to go one size down and i can confirm its true. Im an XL and the lvl 7 fit me perfectly, is this the same?
Way too much junk trooper, Rain will turn it into a very unmanagable bag! If you fall in a lake it will drown you, store all the little loose gear in a water proof bag and it will float! Tent is way too heavy. But good basic load out. It still could be lighter. No Food in the bag. and looks like no room for it either.
is it small like toaks titanium pot 1.1? i need something bigger like 1 liter usefull volume to boil water, it is mean need bigger then 1l, didn’t splash or shimmer when it was boiling. toaks mesure like for edges 1 liter but size is so small that if you wanna cook something realy there for teenager size of meal only, for some teenagers even this will be nit enough, like toaks do, keith no idea didnt saw it or it was so long and accidentally. they so economy titan that aluminum pots bigger in the name same size!
For $499 retail, it’s okay, the Terraframe 50 for $100 less is a bit better value, and is slightly larger in volume. I use mini bags inside mine anyways, so the inside pockets of the Pintler isn’t a loss, as it’s not significant anyways. The 50L of the Terraframe is a better trade off for less
I put the jacket on with only a silk like long sleeve and the military zip up fleece in 28°f temps and sat outside for a put 15 minutes. I also sat oitside for 15 with a cotton long sleeve, sweatshirt, hoodie, and dickies work jacket. I was a heck of a lot warmer in the military parka. Still need to do some longer tests as obviously the longer you are out in the cold the worse it gets but it seems to be pretty dang warm. Obviously the hood isnt insulated but i figured thats because servicemen would be wearing a helmet. I figure i can always throw on a balaclava and if its really cold i could put on a beanie or trapper hat over it. also that silk undershirt worked a lot better than i thought it would. Seems to work better than traditional long underwear.
It won’t soak through bro I camp full time and I have way cheeper tents that’s not 5000 and they don’t. It’s not canvas. I live in a canvas yurt full time and they don’t soak
Hey thanks for the review! I swapped my woodstove for this same tent and all the green ones had color coded poles but my brown one was just black and grey. Thought he may have switched the poles out on me but ty I guess he didn’t.
Just ordered a full set from a surplus website, can't wait to receive it. Only thing I'm worried about is the charcoal leaking, it said it was in defective (but usable?) condition that might come with a few holes.
The waist belt on the SATL is meant to be used with a separate combat belt. It either lies over the combat belt like a sandwich, or above it, so you have two belts parallel to each other on your body. You can then use the straps on the bottom of the pack to rig up the combat belt, giving you two belts for load transfer.
