2:14 - Oh that is just sad. Im one of those who probably are audophile but refuse to identify as one for reasons like this. If im eager to put a headphone on someones head, its not because I want to show them how my stuff is better than theirs, its because I want to share an experience with them that I know is good! Maybe its not always perceived that way but oh well. If someone tries new headphones/speakers and they start imitating sounds like a toddler, you know when they go "yeah there was a bit much of the bzzzzz brt brt tsss", you dont yell at them for not knowing what its called. You compliment them for having an ear that is good enough to identify it even though they have no clue what it is. Thats praiseworthy imo ^^
1:27 - I dont think any gain or float in the world is going to save you from that one though, a pop filter will. The reason it pops like that on plosive sounds is because you blow air on it and it straight up records what it hears, clipping would be more akin to a failure to record it. In my experience a "fwomp" sound like this is more just the actual mic being too exposed for what you are using it for, while it clipping tends to be more of a hissing sound when doing the exact same thing. Fairly convinced the only thing that make you not have this issue with Blue mics is that they are fairly isolated on their own, the mic is pretty far down in there while Zoom mics tend to have their microphones borderline exposed because their whole thing is supposed to be sensitivity and precision. Then again, you actually have the recording so im sure you are well aware whether it clipped or not yourself. Im just saying I dont think the majority of that pop was clipping, because how much matters alot. 4:33 - Ok that one is weird, is that the auto gain doing that? Yeti mic seems to bleed a little bass so it sounds a wee bit boomy, while the Zoom is incredibly clean but sterile sounding to me.
@@kvernesdotten that's a great explanation for me and anyone else watching and I appreciate it. And yeah to answer the one thing you said, anytime I showed clipping on the screen it was when looking at the waveform it was actually hitting the red zone zero decimal mark, whether it sounded super obvious or not. And I thought it was significant to point out because each of the times the H4E did that the Yeti did not on the exact same part, and a couple of them weren't p sounds. You make a great point that in essence by the microphones being buried within the Yeti it kind of has a pop screen built into it, and the H4E doesn't. I will definitely do more experimenting once I get a pop screen for the H4E and report back, and I appreciate you watching and commenting!
@@kvernesdotten Cool! I look forward to catching you around in other videos! Also wanted to say that your summary of the difference in sound between the two mics is a good one. The H4e definitely has a crisper sound that I like, but sterile is exactly the word I would use also. I tend to prefer the warmth of the Yeti even if it isn't quite as clean.
Outside of the fact that using the yeti your voice seemed a little softer but other than that I didn't really notice any big difference between the two.
Appreciate the feedback -- it's good to know what other people, with other headphones and speakers, perceive. To me, the H4e sounds slightly more nasal and the Yeti is more full bodied with slightly less treble.
Yep, I do see Machine and Her on Bethesda.net here: mods.bethesda.net/en/fallout4/mod-detail/4130888 As far as Heather and Nuka World, to keep it spoiler light I'll say that initially she seemed amused by the situation and encourages you to play along to see how things play out. She draws the line at the stage in the quest line where you move the raiders into the Commonwealth, at which point there's a confrontation. So you can still do the majority of the DLC's content as usual, but if you're planning a full raider play through where you're a Warlord in Commonwealth settlements, she won't be cool with it. Hope that helps.
I have a leatherman charge, I jused 3 in one oil and really worked it for one to two hours while watching youtube and its perfectly loose in all the right places. However, I still carry my pocket knife in the pocket due to it being slimmer. The charge is often nearby on the hip in a belt sheath with bits/extender/a 5/16-1/4 nut driver or in my backpack.
@@YeetPlays21 I appreciate knowing that. Maybe I'll give 3 in 1 oil a shot -- that's probably the one lube I hadn't tried yet on it despite also working it for an evening or two. To me it's still kind of a shame this step is needed, but it's also nice to know smooth action is possible with it. 👍🏻
@@Digimorphosis absolutely. My recommendation is to make a small zipper loop with some paracoord, put it under your pocket clip, and that way you can hold one handle and the paracord in the other and i find it makes it easier to work as well.
Thanks! I wanted to get back to you to say I got 3 in 1 oil at Lowes the other day and tried it, and it helped a lot with the Charge's pliers action. It's still no Arc, but this is the smoothest my Charge has ever been and the biggest improvement one singular lube session has ever made. Appreciate the tips.
I really enjoyed this review, especially the various hands-on handling aspects and subjective situational descriptions of how they sound and what it is worth to you. Very easy to follow and absolutely worth the time. Thank you!
Got one a few weeks ago and i really like it for touch ups, the other field sharpener of theirs is the top choice for more versatility, wider diamond plates and a strop but this thing does a great job and piece of leather would be a great addition but the ceramic will polish give and hair popping results, i love the angle guides and the smaller size is great for a shirt pocket or pants, cant go wrong with either one in my opinion, i just hope the plate and the ceramic stay bonded to the plastic and the ceramic does not get broken, so far so good
@@j.l.327 Thanks for commenting! I've been hearing a lot of good things about the regular field sharpener, and from what you say it really does sound versatile. I could probably do all of my regular knife sharpening with it. Do you find that with yours, that you don't really end up using sharpening stones etc. and mainly use the field sharpener?
@@Digimorphosis very much so, i have several SiC, india, and Arkansas stones that i only use every so often, more therapy for me than the knife, it mostly depends on size of the blade and the desired angle for the edge, i find the 25 and 20 degree guides on these two sharpeners to be very adequate for about anything and they are so handy and trouble free i cant recommend them any more but a solid grasp on the process is still the most important key
@@martywatkins1398 Cool. I did cover that a little in this video: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-WU69vkg-hxI.htmlsi=2zx8f-Ka_cV11KXj But can definitely plan out a more dedicated sharpening video.
@@Izo49 Admittedly I don't have experience with a huge number of headphones, despite being an enthusiast. I've mostly found a few that I love and have rolled with those for years. The DT 1770 are my most recent acquisition, and I think they're great. For a bass headphone that still has good detail and imaging, I don't know of any others that I'd recommend in their place. Others I've used have better sound stage or better vocals, but they also lack the distinct sound the 1770 have. To me, in some of those cases, those other headphones are pretty lacking in bass (comparatively) and don't end up in my regular rotation.
BTW, sorry all for the slightly overexposed picture quality in this video. Still dialing in some of my settings for outdoors stuff as opposed to studio recording.
I agree. Some of the Leathermen have awful action. My favorite Leatherman is the Signal but I hate the stiff plier action. For the price all Leatherman pliers should be spring load for easy one hand use. I subscribed.
@@SubUrbanNinja-EDC Yeah I would love spring loaded. I'm not sure if somehow that decreases strength or durability and that's why they don't do it or what. Thanks for the kind words and for following!
I loved the video, thanks for explaining everything so well. Could you help me with your experience with the following situation? I have this FIIO Q11 and the Hiby FC3 DAC dongle, both of which I connect to the PC via USB A, plugging my Edifier R1280Dbs speakers into the 3.5mm output. But the Q11 sounds much lower even with the gain high and at max volume, is this normal or could my unit be damaged? or is it necessary to activate some setting?
@@gerardoromero9922 Hmm. I know that for a lot of home audio devices "line level" for inputs is 0.75 volts RMS, but some pro devices and other gear is 1.5 volts. Depending on your Edifier speakers and what strength signal their input is expecting, it's possible that your FC3 is outputting that and the Q11 isn't. I will do a little digging to see if I can come up with a more specific answer, but that would be my assumption. Last thought for the moment just to double check -- is your volume maxed on both the Q11 itself and the computer itself connected to? I wondered if maybe your FC3 dongle was using max PC volume but maybe the Q11 isn't.
@@Digimorphosis Thank you so much for your reply. I tried the maximum volume in windows and it made a small positive difference, thanks for the advice. I just might not understand how the Fiio Q11 works, since it must be practically at maximum and the FC3 with 16 /30 volume steps matches the Fiio's power. Maybe the Fiio modifies the line power only when it is at maximum. Anyway, if you find any additional information I would be happy to read it. Thanks again for taking the time to reply.
I always carry my Leatherman in my belt sheath with extra bits, extender, and flashlight. I carry a knife as well everyday but I would never not carry my arc the amount of times it's saved me makes it more than worth the investment!
@@mkgruff That's a cool idea. I haven't really used the belt pouch with my Arc yet, but I do like what you said about having a convenient way to also carry the bit extender, bits, and a small light. That small little pouch could deal with an awful lot of scenarios. 👍🏻
i have an iphone 15 and i want to buy a tablet should i go for the s9 fe or the ipad 10th gen as im a student and mainly use it for note taking, multimedia consumption etc the software support on ipad is more also
I think if you're mainly using a tablet for note taking and watching content either will be pretty comparable. Obviously the iPad will have some extra functionality simply because you also have an iPhone and the system is set up that way, so if it were me I'd be more inclined to go iPad. The S9 will have a better screen (OLED) in terms of color vibrance and deep blacks, so that would be the main reason to consider going that way.
You are very correct, don't let people tell you what is that you like. It's your ears and wallet try things for yourself. I'm very partial to what you said about denon, my endgame pick was Fostex TH900. Very much U shaped sound that tries to be close to what a nice 2.1 stereo offers with tight full bass response that extends all the way down.
Cool, I'd looked at the TH900 a couple times over the years myself. Seems like there were some nice customization options for it at one time also. I'm with you there - I like detail as much as the next person but what makes or breaks the enjoyment of a headphone for me is how punchy and deep the bass goes. Like the DT 1770, I can settle for a smaller sound stage if the bass is amazing, but I struggle to enjoy a super crispy headphone that also sounds anemic or sterile.
Id like 300 and 600 grit. And a long conic sharpener for serrations. To be fair id go with Victorinox diamond and ceramic files and the said conic diamond sharpener (it looks like a pen). My main is WorkSharp Precision Adjust with premium files.
I have been carrying Leatherman multitools since they first came out. The Wave or Charge+ just feel right to me and the Free series seems flimsy and gimmicky. Like you said, it depends on what you are used to.
For anyone interested, I weighed mine & it’s exactly 2.0 ounces (before I added a leather strop). And yes, it’s a web exclusive, only available at Work Sharp’s website. I glued a 2mm thick leather strop to the side without the pocket clip.
@@GayBladez It's the Flissa 9-inch. It's on Amazon for $25 and it has D2 steel. If you're interested, I talked more in depth about it and another knife in this video: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-h8EqKyfu9Q4.htmlsi=0ruBQw-hH_XSgfds
@@Mike_Y. Fair enough and I appreciate that perspective. I've not used the original yet myself so that's good to know. Maybe I'll grab that one also. 👌🏻
@@charleswtuggle I have a Power Pint, too. Smoothest pliers I've ever used! The smaller size is kind of interesting, and while I tend to prefer a bit bigger tool myself, when my son is ready it'll probably be his first tool. He's already been eying some of my tools and I know he'd love it. :-)
I’ve carried a multitool for 30+ years now. I worked at a water treatment company in the field and we would do minor repairs. I carried a Leatherman PST and Buck 112 on my belt. I primarily used the Leatherman for the flat head screwdriver. I liked it better than a Victorinox because I felt I could torque on it harder. It often saved me from having to walk back to my truck just to get a screwdriver. I’m retired now and primarily carry a Leatherman P2. I considered getting an Arc. The MagnaCut blade is nice. But I think it’s overkill for such a small blade. The only tool in the Arc toolset that I wish the P2 had would be the diamond file. It works better filing one’s nails.
Started off with pocket knives and then progressed to Leathermans but IMO they are very bulky. I found myself rarely using the pliers so then I started carrying a Victorinox Pioneer, Climber, or Tinker. I added a Knipex Cobra for the rare occasions that I did need pliers and the combo is much lighter than a Leatherman. I now keep the Knipex in a backpack and keep the Vic on me for the weekends but for work now I carry a Civivi Mandate (like if a utility knife and a kiridashi had a baby) perfect for most of the warehouse work I do, and a smallish slip joint on my belt for cutting fruit. I keep a Leatherman Squirt PS4 at my computer should the need arise, and this has worked for me for the past 3 years.
@@mourningcrows Yeah there's definitely more weight in the pocket than with some of my folders. I use the pliers fairly frequently so a part of me is reluctant to go SAK because I feel like I'd miss the pliers, but maybe I'd be surprised. I do have the Knipex also -- usually in a backpack.
I think I’m gonna get me one of these as a bday gift to myself.. it’s been a lil longer than a decade since I’ve owned a multi tool n they were always my go to when in the scouts
@@insertnamehere4341 Yeah I've been curious about those. I see a lot of love in the tool community about the Swiss Tool MX and Spirit. My one little reluctance would be the lack of interchangeable bits since I've gotten attached to that, but the fit and finish on those looks amazing. When I get my hands on one, I'll do a video! 👍🏻
@@kvernesdotten You certainly don't need an amplifier for these, but you can keep the input volume moderate on the amp and then adjust via APM from there. In this case, the advantage of the G6 was the high end DAC it also has that sounds much better than basically anything else I plugged these into via cord. I guess I say that to say, if some people want to get upset over some theoretical issue they think that causes, that's their prerogative. But in terms of actual practical usage, it cases no issues and because of the DAC does provide a sound improvement over bluetooth. For me, I take actual experience over hypotheticals any day FWIW.
@@Digimorphosis Haha I have done this myself tbh, but ive seen a couple of streamers doing this same thing because BT is way too laggy to play games with, and are being told that it will overload the circuits, pump power the wrong way through the integrated amps and probably explode, set your goldfish on fire and start WW3. Personally I stopped doing this, but thats just because all the wireless headphones ive tried either sounds alot worse through it, or needs to be powered on to function with an aux connection to begin with so all the processing and amplification will be done by the headphone regardless. I do recall seeing a warning on some headphones, I cant remember which one but might have been the Audeze Maxwells? Anyway it said to only use it wireless or through a USB cable, but didnt spesify why. Iunno it still has not broken anything so at this point its just funny to me. I do like the perspective of this video though ^^
@@kvernesdotten Gotcha. Yeah I suppose I could see where maybe the power mismatch between devices would be wonky. In my case at the moment I don't have any other dedicated DACs, so in order to get the great DAC of my G6 there was no avoiding also using its amp. The 2-in-1 is really handy most of the time, but maybe not ideal here. Luckily, I rarely use my APM with cord and if I do need a corded headphone, I have better sounding headphones than the APM that I use with the G6 instead -- and ones that want the amplification. 🙂 Appreciate your comments and for watching!
Huge fan of multitools but I never really managed to leave the pocket knife because multitool knives tend to be really bad. The Arc would be super interesting to me for that reason, alot of us have been asking for this for many many years and all we really got was the S30V on the Charge, which not only is a tool I dont really want to carry but LM absolutely butchered the heat treat on those to the point where im convinced that company alone is responsible for people thinking S30V is a "meh" steel at this point. Sadly, where I live the Arc is very difficult to get under 450 dollars, and I just find that incredibly hard to justify. Especially since I have so many other multitools. If it comes down to a more sensible price I will be picking one up though, it does seem like the most "complete" edc package ive seen so far.
I'm sure you could glue a piece of leather to the side without the clip and have a strop on a tool that otherwise wouldnt have one. without adding any real size.
I was thinking the same thing, but instead of gluing leather straight to it, how about shaping a thin piece of wood or just the leather itself in a way where it can sit in the middle between the stones for storage, then taken out for access to either stone and put back in between the angle guides on top of a stone for actual stropping? One of my only gripes with the Fallkniven DC4 is that the leather for stropping is on the outside and as it rubs around in a pocket/backpack any compound i put on tends to rub off. ...I need to get my hands on one of these now!
@Digimorphosis honestly I stopped working HVAC and started working in an office. Plus, I kind of fell in love with Victorinox and typically carry one along with one or two other knives. I'm definitely a collector and rotating my carry is part of the fun for me.
I know multiple folks who have gone through exactly what you are talking about after I talked them into getting the arc. I’ve carried Leathermans for 25 years now. Then the p4 came out and I loved it. But I wanted some changes including the blade steel and interchangeable bits. Suddenly the arc came out and I don’t go a second I’m awake without it on me. I’m a mechanic so I use it all the time.
@@nickallen937 That's cool to know other folks had the same tool progression. It sure is super useful. I also like hearing from a mechanic since that assures me the tool can hold up to harder use than I've put it through yet. 👍🏻
@@UgiCanOzcelik It's possible with a USB-C cable but otherwise I don't think so. Extended display in the main way I know of with MacBook expects an iPad.
@@ddwchamp Ah yeah that'd be a nice touch - especially as a camp knife. I wonder if there are 3D printed third party sheaths with that feature that'd fit these knives. I'll have to check into that. Thank you for the kind words.
@@a2raya772 Not dramatically, but I do hear a bit wider sound because the pads push the drivers further away from the ear. It's a nice complement to how they already sound, but as I said in another video after this one, the pads come with an extra screen over the inner ear part that can diminish the highs if you don't remove it or the screen that was already on the 1990s. 👍🏻
Interesting video. I've always wanted to carry a full sized multitool, but never liked that it had to go on my belt or weigh down my pocket. I also don't like that they are often stiff and annoying to use. Both of my full size Leatherman were expensive, but do not feel premium at all. So I ended up with the little Leatherman Squirt for a pocket plier, Victorinox Classic, and a primary folder. Sometimes I'll drop my Victorinox Compact in a different pocket for more options depending on the intended activity. Maybe it's time to check out some new offerings like the Arc? Thanks.
Yea I’m in the same situation. Daily a skeletool cus the tools are just right and then I have a supertool 300 for heavy work. It’s cool because of how useful it is and it meets all of my needs perfectly but I’ve got a dozen folders that have largely gone uncarried as a result. And then when I do feel the need for just a knife a fixed blade just makes more sense. Only really carry folders like once a month now and it’s mostly just to fidget on my shift or something.
It's a Flissa 9-inch. You can find it on Amazon for a surprising $25. If you're curious about it, I did a video putting it and one other knife through its paces here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-h8EqKyfu9Q4.html
